All That Glitters (One Piece\Zolo) 159

Thanks to everyone for the feedback on my lemon chpt. This chpt will finally show the new bounties, including Vaughn's. Make sure to go to All Results to see it. Also, I was thinking about doing another writing contest for the upcoming summer, like I did last time. Only this time, instead of only having a month, you'd have from June-August. Let me know what you think. If enough people are interested, I'll do it. Special thanks to emberalchemist13 for the banner.

Quick Recap: Zolo confessed his feelings for you and defeated Saif before fleeing the guards w/the crew. Rais was named Rhaj and you left Lilia and Bonny to make their own lives. You spent the rest of the afternoon w/Zolo.
START THE QUIZ
By the time you left the shower, Zolo was already asleep again. You simply shook your head at him. As you grabbed your boots, you glanced out the window. Water Seven was even closer now. You'd reach port in another ten, maybe fifteen minutes. Zolo didn't stir as you sat on the bed to pull your boots on. When you finished, you gave his leg a slap. Zolo opened a single eye. "Get up," you told him. "We're almost there, and you probably need a shower too." Zolo looked like he was about to go back to sleep before he decided a shower sounded nice. Tossing the covers aside, Zolo wandered around the room, gathering up his clothes. Unlike Zolo, you didn't watch him as he wandered around, although he didn't seem to mind being naked in front of you. Must be a guy thing.
As Zolo closed the bathroom door, you left the room to head up onto the deck. The island was close now. So close you could see people scurrying around on the docks. No sooner than you were on the deck did a taunting voice greet you. "Well, look who decided to grace us with her presence."
You gave Nami a dull look. But before you could retort, Chopper asked, "Did you find Zolo and wake him?"
"I think so," you responded, rubbing your eye with your palm. "But you know how that goes." Chopper just nodded knowingly. Zolo was notorious for falling back asleep if someone wasn't there to badger him.
"Jeeze, Vaughn," Luffy began, noticing how you rubbed your eyes tiredly. "Are you still tired? You slept all day." You simply shrugged, not wanting to respond. Especially not when you could feel Sanji and Nami's eyes boring holes in the back of your head. You weren't stupid. You suspected they knew about you and Zolo, based on the looks they gave you. And when two people who were attracted to each other disappeared for half a day... well, it wasn't hard to put two and two together. But that was fine. You didn't care if anyone knew, so long as they kept their mouths shut. There were just some things that weren't open to discussion.
Deliberately ignoring the stares from your nosey crew, you headed for the bow to watch the city approach. Was there ever a more beautiful sight? Not just the city, but the freedom of it. You had a new-found appreciation for the freedom so many people took for granted. To be able to choose your own path was a wonderful thing. And being a pirate was the ultimate freedom. Pirates followed their own rules. And while not all of them were good, there was a massive draw to this kind of life.
You were pulled from your thoughts when someone cleared their throat in an attempt to gain your attention. You turned to find Robin there. Her face was serious and concerned. "I'm not meaning to pry into your personal life..." she began carefully. "But I hope you took the proper precautions last night."
"It's taken care of," you responded, not at all offended or upset. She was simply looking out for her crewmate. Robin seemed surprised, but relieved at the same time.
The conversation had actually come up last night. Zolo had suddenly stopped right in the middle of what he was doing and gave you this look of panic before asking, "What if I get you pregnant?" You proceeded to laugh, completely confusing Zolo, before explaining that your chances of getting pregnant were almost non-existent. You'd known that since you'd joined the Academy and the school doctor gave you a complete physical. It was a genetic thing, inherited from your mom and passed down on her side of the family. It wasn't so much that you were barren; it was just extremely difficult for women in your family to conceive. Difficult childbirth was commonplace in your family. Many women died in labor or had stillbirths, when they were able to get pregnant at all. For some reason your bodies just could handle the stress. Something about the environment your mother's family had come from. But whatever the reasons, your bodies compensated for this difficulty by making it almost impossible to have children. Some combination of your bodies not producing the same number of eggs as other women, an unusually high acidity in the uterus to kill of sperm before they could fertilize an egg, and a thin uterus lining to prevent any fertilized eggs from being implanted. To save your life, your body made it hard to produce new life. That was why there was a fifteen year gap between you and Vincent. To quote your doctor, you had a better chance of getting hit by lightning on a sunny day than getting pregnant.
To some women it might sound like a horrible situation, but you were grateful. After all, your own mother had died giving birth to you, leaving you without a motherly figure growing up and causing tremendous ridicule. You didn't want to suffer the same fate.
You paused in your reminiscing when you saw Nami approaching you. `Oh great...` you thought, instantly on guard.
"Sooo... Vaughn," she drawled, grinning evilly at you.
You gave her a deadpan look and repeated, "Sooo... Nami."
"Well?" she prodded.
"Well what?"
"Don't play coy with me. I want details."
"Details about what?"
Nami sighed in annoyance. "You know very well what!"
"I don't have a clue."
Trying to keep her voice low, she said, "I want to know what happened between you and Zolo!"
"Oooh!" you said, as if you just realized what she was talking about. "Well why didn't you just say so?"
"I did!"
"No, you kept beating around the bush," you retorted, looking at the city.
There was a stretch of silence before Nami began again. "Well?"
You looked back of her with a raised eyebrow. "Hmm? What?"
Nami ground her teeth. "What happened?" she forced out.
"To what?"
"ARGH!!" Nami exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air dramatically, catching the crew's attention. "You're so damn frustrating, you know that!?"
"Yes," you replied with a grin.
"Just forget it!!" Nami shouted as she stormed away, probably to take her frustrations out on the first person to cross her path. You couldn't help but laugh.
Zolo just barely avoided the raging Nami as he finally made it above deck. He raised an eyebrow as she stormed around, muttering under her breath something about know-it-all, closed-mouthed spies. Zolo could only conclude that you were responsible for her outbursts. Keeping a wary eye on Nami, who shouted at Luffy for no apparent reason, Zolo sidled up to you. "What's that all about?" he asked, motioning to Nami.
You smirked, looking slightly reminiscent of a fox or a coyote. "Just teaching her to keep her nose out of other people's business. That's my job." Zolo looked at you funny before shaking his head, realizing he'd never completely understand you.
Don't bother trying
Despite the size of the Galley-La ship, you had little trouble tying her up in the dock. As soon as the people realized you were on the ship, they were all more than eager to help you. You were the saviors of the city, and of their beloved mayor. They'd have done just about anything for you. The others were a little surprised the shipwrights weren't there to greet them, but they figured they were all busy working on your new ship. It should be ready in the next day or so.
Somehow you managed to escape the mob that seemed hell-bent on praising you and found sanctuary in the dock house. Chimney and Kokoro were there to greet you. "I'm so glad you're back, Miss Pirate-Fighter-Lady!" Chimney greeted in her childlike way.
"It's good to see you're all well," Kokoro agreed.
"Was there ever any doubt?" Luffy asked, grinning broadly.
Kokoro watched as you settled back on one of the beds, resting your back against the wall. Whatever had happened between you, it seemed to be resolved. Turning to the rest of the crew, Kokoro stated, "It shouldn't be too long before the ship is finished. You should probably use this time to resupply."
"Good idea," Nami agreed. She smiled brightly. "We should have plenty of money to get everything we need." For once, you agreed with Nami about the whole shopping thing. You wanted to sell that fancy dress. Nami gave everyone in the crew some money to buy stuff before you all went off in different directions.
At first you weren't sure where to take the dress. To a jeweler or a dress shop. In the end you decided to visit both and see who offered you more money. At both shops, the employees nearly had a heart attack when you showed them the dress. The dressmaker almost drooled over it. You decided to sell it to the jeweler, who offered you 500,000 berries for it. Given how he'd painstakingly examined the value of every diamond, you weren't really surprised he offered you more money. Needless to say, you left the shop quite happy.
On the way back, you picked up a few personal items, like books and chemicals for your explosives. You also saw a few nice pieces of clothing while you were window shopping that you decided to get (you didn't mind clothes shopping, just not with Nami).
You were actually the last person to get back to the dock house. As you entered, you heard Luffy exclaim, "Eh? Usopp came back!?"
Sitting your stuff down on the table, you listened to the conversation. Taking a drag off his cigarette, Sanji explained, "Yeah, I just saw him. He was down at the beach talking about a bunch of plans or something."
Luffy's eyes lit up. "For real!? Why would he be doing that...!?" He shook his head. It didn't matter. "What are we doing here!?!? Let's go and pick him up now!!!"
"Yeahh! Usopp!" Chopper cried with happy tears in his eyes.
Nami shook her head, but couldn't help smiling. "It's like he forgot about it already..." she murmured.
The three were about to leave and find the sniper, when Zolo's shout stopped them. "Hey! Hold on, you guys!!!!" The three turned on their heels and looked at Zolo questioningly, as did the rest of you. Something in Zolo's voice told you he was in first mate-mode. Zolo scowled as he crossed his arms over his chest. "None of you are going after him. I won't let you guys leave."
This certainly made you raise an eyebrow, and made Chopper ask, "Eh!? Why not?"
"Before, he was no good as a crewmember and messed up terribly. I'm not going to let that guy come back to the crew just 'cause he feels bad now."
"Zolo!" Chopper yelled.
Nami glared at the swordsman. "How can you say that, Zolo!?"
"Hey!!! Everyone shut the hell up!!!" Zolo's voice instantly silenced everyone. You waited to see what Zolo had to say. Although he might seem like he was just irritable, you knew Zolo had a good head on his shoulders. Calming down, Zolo explained, "How do you think the argument between Usopp and Luffy began? Which one was correct? In a man-to-man duel, no matter what happens, you can't go back on your words!!! The most important thing is victory! And you know that Usopp lost! He left the crew of his own volition!" Crossing the room, Zolo stood beside Luffy. He tapped his head with the Wado. "You guys should know what it means for an idiot like Luffy to be called our captain!!" Zolo grabbed Luffy's cheek and stretched it out, much to Luffy's discomfort. "A person that just crawls around on the ground in fear and can't stand up to protect anyone doesn't belong with us!! You all know that if our captain loses his will, our crew is sure to fall apart!!!" As Luffy turned to yell at Zolo for his words, Zolo shouted, "This may seem like another one of his jokes to you, but if I can't trust the man that's in charge here... then maybe this time, I'll be the one to start a fight and leave!!!"
Luffy, Chopper and Nami all jumped. "What!? You're going to end it just like that!?" Neither you, Sanji nor Robin said anything. You understood what Zolo was saying. You knew he was partly being serious and partly just making a point. Usopp had basically mutinied, which was one of the most serious crimes a pirate, or any sailor, could commit. Everyone in your crew had different dreams and ambitions, but you were all held together by your allegiance to Luffy. But if people started questioning his authority...
"If you want to take that idiot back in, you know what you have to do," Zolo stated. His eyes darkened as he set Luffy with a dead-serious stare. "You need to show him where he went wrong, Luffy. And if you let him off... I'm going to do something about it! For all I care, you can just leave him on this damn island!"
Nami nervously eyed the swordsman blocking the door. "Slow down, Zolo! Usopp did screw up... You can tell him that in person if he comes back!!!"
Zolo slammed his sword into the ground so loudly even you jumped. "IS QUITTING OUR CREW SO EASY TO FORGIVE!?"
Slowly, Nami replied, "No... but Zolo..."
"Nami..." Sanji interrupted, his voice quiet yet no less serious. "What marimo just said... it may be disappointing but..." It would probably kill Sanji to say he agreed with Zolo, but he did. At least on this matter.
"We can't just go back to trusting a guy that left us over such a foolish matter," Zolo concluded. "We can solve this easily. It's only going to be okay if the first thing that kid says to us is a proper apology!!!" Zolo's eyes shifted to yours briefly. "If he can apologize like a man... then it'll be fine!" That was something Zolo had just recently learned: it took a strong person to admit they were wrong. Zolo sheathed his sword again. "If he starts spouting out stupid crap about anything else... then he can go the hell back home!!!"
Luffy sat down on the ground. You could tell by how his face was drawn up that he knew what needed to be done. Before, after the fight with Usopp, Luffy had been prepared to say good-bye. It had hurt, but there was nothing else he could've done. Just like Zolo said, it would take a real apology to undo that.
"All of our goals and dreams as pirates... and the dangers we get into... this isn't some make-believe story for some stupid kid!"
Harsh... but true
A long silence stretched over the crew as the accepted what Zolo said. It wasn't easy, but it was right. A knock at the door broke the tension. You turned to see Kokoro entering. She held the log pose in her hand. Nami had left it with her so it could continue recording the magnetic field so you could leave on time. If she'd taken it with her to Al Taizz, it would have to reset. If Kokoro noticed the atmosphere, she didn't say anything. Instead, she held the log pose out to Nami. "It's set." Nami took it and examined it, and sure enough, it was pointing out to sea, in a downward direction.
"Then we just have to wait for the ship to be done to go! That's great!" Luffy exclaimed with a grin. He seemed to move from his bad move quickly, though you couldn't say whether it was from optimism that things would work out or just a front.
"That's right," Chopper added, not quite as chipper but sounding a little better. "They'll come and tell us when they finish..."
"You guys... know which island the log's pointing to?" Kokoro asked. You could tell from her tone that she knew.
After staring at the needle for a moment, Nami admitted, "Not really. Where? It seems to be pointing a bit down."
Kokoro laughed. "Of course. The next island is the undersea wonderworld, Merman Island!"
Sanji looked like he was going to have a fit. His eyes turned to hearts, his face turned red, and smoke shot out his nose. "AH!!!? MER-MER-MER-MERMAN ISLAND! FINALLY!!?"
Chopper started to panic, thinking something was wrong. "Ah! What's wrong Sanji!?" But Sanji's problem was physical, it was psychological.
Nami, however, didn't look nearly so thrilled. "Merman Island?" She sighed, resting her head in her hand. "... It's complicated."
"That's right," Luffy agreed, looking serious. "Because of what happened at your village... it's a little..."
"But that guy was a pirate, right?" Zolo asked.
"I think he was actually ousted from there, so it might not be a problem," you commented. But even if they bore you no grudge, it would still be hard on Nami with everything she went through.
"That's exactly it!" Sanji squealed. You frowned as Sanji did some bizarre love-dance around the room. Really, he scared you when he got like this. Off in his own fantasy land, Sanji sang, "Merman Island is one of the famous landmarks of the Grand Line! Beautiful mermaids paint brilliant arcs in the sea, playing with the fish in the dream-like kingdom!" But he suddenly paused in his speech as his gaze fell upon Kokoro. The color drained from his face and he fell to his knees. "So what if we dare to dream!?" he wailed, banging his fist on the floor. "We're pirates!"
"There should be some young ones there!" Kokoro snapped, that smile still on her face. Ignoring Sanji as he continued to throw a tantrum, Kokoro focused on the more serious issues. "But, to get to that wonderland isn't so simple!"
"I'm worried about the whole under the sea concept..." Robin mused. Yes, that did seem to pose a problem. But if a lot of people took that path, there had to be some way to get there without drowning. I mean, mermen didn't spend all their time underwater.
"About that, you'll know when you get there," Kokoro explained. "But that's not the problem..." She tossed a newspaper on the table. "Look at this."
Nami picked up the paper and read the article on the cover. "What's this...? 'This month there have already been fourteen... ships that disappeared...? What's this about?"
"The Fulorian Triangle." You felt the hair on the back of your neck stand up as Kokoro mentioned that place. "It's an area you have to pass to get to the wonderland."
"Fulorian Triangle?" Luffy asked. "What's that?"
"There are a lot of ghost stories about that place," you said, drawing everyone's attention. "Hundreds of ships drop out of contact in that area every year. And when the ships do appear, they're completely empty. But there are never any signs of struggle to indicate they were attacked, and no bodies to suggest they might've starved to death. It's as if the crew simply... disappeared. There have also been reports of people seeing a haunted ship." You'd read Marine reports of ship just vanishing, only to show up completely abandoned. You didn't know if it was really ghosts or not, but that place had a bad reputation.
Chopper looked like he might pass out. "Ghosts and monsters could appear!? Scary!"
On the opposite side of the spectrum, Luffy looked excited. "Will we see skeletons that move!?"
"What are you thinking?" Zolo asked, sparing Luffy a strange look.
Nami was trembling in fear. "So scary! I don't want to see it! That terrifying ship! What kind of cursed sea is this?"
Kokoro laughed, holding a candle up to her face to create a dramatic shadow. "I have no idea. If you actually get caught by that then anything goes." Nami and Chopper clutched to each other in fear. "Just remember that that sea is dark and deep... so be careful! It would be best if you left your will before entering such a dangerous sea."
Seeing your navigators will faltering, Robin appealed to the one thing she knew Nami couldn't resist. "A commercial or pirate ghost ship is usually linked to a treasure ship."
"LET'S GO FIND THAT GHOST SHIP!" Nami cheered, punching a fist in the air with her typical hungry glint in her eye.
"Leave it to me!" Luffy shouted.
Chopper let out a cry. "I don't want to!"
"Even if we go, as long as we have enough food, there's nothing to worry about," Sanji comforted. You weren't sure how that helped with a ghost ship, but whatever...
Kokoro just sweatdropped at the change in the room. "Ah... good luck with that." How did you find a ghost ship anyway?
I think it'll find us first
Before the discussion of whether to enter the Triangle could continue, there was a commotion outside. "Pirate Bro!" someone outside shouted.
"Straw Hat brother!"
Everyone turned to face the door as it swung open and the Square Sisters and Chimney fell through. They knelt on the floor, panting. Whatever they had to tell you must be important. They looked like they'd been running. At first you thought it might be bad news, but when the looked up, you could see the smiles on their faces. "Franky Bro told us to come and tell you! The Dream Ship is complete!"
"It looks great!" Chimney added, eyes sparkling.
`Well, that is good news,` you thought. What a perfect time to get back.
Luffy's eyes lit up with delight. "Ah! It's already done!? So fast!"
"It's because the top five shipwrights on this island worked day and night over it!" the Sisters explained.
"Great! Let's go!" Sanji said, eager to see the ship, as you all were.
Chopper jumped up and down. "OK! OK! OK! OK!"
"STRAW... HAT... BRO!" An even bigger commotion drew everyone outside. You could see the entire Franky Family, led by Zambai running towards you. Unlike the Square Sisters, their expression told you their news wasn't so good.
The Family came to a stop in front of your group, panting for breath. "What's the matter with you guys?" Luffy asked. "Why are you gasping for breath!?"
It took a moment before Zambai could answer. "Actually just saw them..." he panted. His eyes looked wild. "The wanted posters...! Did you see them!?"
"Wanted posters?" Luffy repeated in confusion. The rest of you exchanged a look, but none of you had any idea what they were talking about.
"You!" Zambai exclaimed, reaching into his coat. "You have been given a shocking bounty, Luffy Bro! And the others were in there too!" Your stomach sank at this. Now you knew what this was about. The wanted posters from the Enies Lobby incident were finally out. You were expecting this, but that didn't mean you liked it. You were a spy, after all. How could you do your job if people recognized you? This was why you hated drawing attention to yourself.
Sanji, however, looked thrilled. "Me too!? Great!"
Nami wasn't quite so pleased. "Me as well!?"
"Me too!?" Chopper gasped.
"Just take a look!" Zambai spread the posters on the ground. "All eight of you now have bounties!" Sure enough, every person in your crew, including Usopp, was now a wanted criminal.
Chopper "the Cotton Candy Lover" (pet): 50 berries. Chopper's picture must've been taken back during the Davy Back Fight, when he'd been devouring all that cotton candy. Because the government thought he was your pet instead of your doctor, he only had a bounty of 50 berries.
Nami "the Burglar Cat": 16 million berries. Nami's wanted picture looked like it'd been taken here in Water Seven, when she'd been at the pool. She was in her polka-dotted bikini, posing rather seductively. The attention she was going to get for that picture wouldn't so much be for her bounty... But Nami was rather like a cat, and she was a thief, so the name suited her.
Sogeking "the Sharp Shooter": 30 million berries. Usopp's picture was a close-up of his face when he wore his mask, but anyone who knew him would know who it was.
"Black Leg" Sanji: 77 million berries. They must've not been able to get a proper picture of Sanji, so someone drew it. But they didn't do a very good job. Sure, they got his distinguishing features, like his curly brow and his blonde hair hiding the left side of his face, but the picture didn't do him justice. But you liked the nickname. Not only did it refer to his fighting style, but it was similar to his mentor "Red Leg" Zeff.
"Demon Child" Nico Robin: 80 million berries. Robin's picture had finally been updated to a shot during the fighting at the end of Enies Lobby, when she'd been using her Hana-Hana Fruit. But the government still insisted on that nickname to pin the blame for the Ohara incident on her.
"Pirate Hunter" Roronoa Zolo: 120 million berries. Zolo's picture was the same as before, during the fighting in Alabasta. But his bounty had doubled! He was sure to be happy about that.
"Straw Hat" Luffy: 300 million berries. Like Zolo, Luffy's picture was the same. But his bounty had tripled! But that was only natural, since he was the captain, had defeated both a warlord and CP9's top agent, and declared war on the World Government. And finally...
Cruz Vaughn "the Iron Maiden": 222 million berries. Your picture had to have been taken during your fight with Nik, at the very end when you'd set your tetsugin on fire. Your figure was almost completely shadowed, with only your eyes and enough of your face to show your scar visible. Your new nickname could be interpreted several ways. It could refer to your tetsugin (which was actually made of steel). It could refer to your strength. Or, more likely, it was a reference to your penchant for torture. An "iron maiden" was a torture device, a heavy sarcophagus with protruding metal spikes that you locked someone in, impaling them and making them bleed to death. It certainly conjured up a fearsome image. The odd bounty was probably the combined effect of killing a warlord, practicing an illegal martial art, and the government finally realizing that having someone who used to work as a spy for you now working for the enemy was probably a bad thing. You'd never heard of a first-time bounty being so high. And not only did it make you the second most wanted person in the crew, but one of the most wanted women in the world!
Should I be happy or upset?
Everyone's reactions to their new bounties were different. Luffy and Zolo were both very happy their bounties went up. Robin didn't seem to mind, but she'd been a wanted criminal forever, so it was probably nothing new to her. Nami, Sanji and Chopper all looked horrified, though for completely different reasons. Nami never wanted a bounty in the first place, Chopper didn't want a bounty so low, and Sanji didn't want such a bad picture on his poster.
You had mixed feelings. On the one hand, you were spy, and having a bounty was bad for business. On the other hand, most of your face was hidden, so unless someone really studied the poster and really took notice of you, they probably couldn't tell. Plus... you kinda liked the nickname, and it was a nice feeling to be second only to your captain.
"Sogeking also got a bounty," Luffy pointed out.
"I understand how you feel... and have many things to say," Zambai said, once against reaching into his coat. "Please wait! We need you to look at something!" He pulled out another wanted poster.
Franky "the Cyborg": 44 million berries. Franky's picture was during the fighting at Enies Lobby, when he'd been shouting something.
"Franky!!?"
"That's right! Even though we managed to escape this disaster... but bro wasn't so lucky... If he stays on Water Seven, his life will be in danger! If he gets caught again, do we have the strength to save him!?" Zambai looked up at Luffy with pleading eyes. They really were worried about Franky's safety. "Big Bro is really worried about us, that's why he won't leave here...! That's why we must ask a favor! Luffy Bro, please!!! Even though we're pushing it on you!!! Please take Franky Bro with you on your journey! That guy was the son of a pirate anyway!"
Luffy mulled this over in his head for a minute before turning to the rest of you. "What do you guys think?"
You thought it was a good idea. "Well, we did intend to get a shipwright here in the first place. Plus, if he's the one who built the ship, he'd know it better than anyone else." The others nodded in agreement.
"And he gave us so much help before..." Robin added, thinking about how Franky had stuck beside her through the whole Enies Lobby incident. He'd certainly earned a spot on the crew.
Luffy nodded decisively. "Alright then! Let's get our stuff together, head down to our new ship, and get our shipwright!!"
"We'll meet you there," Zambai called as he and the rest of the Frankies left... though you noticed it wasn't in the direction of the scrap yard where the ship was at. Strange...
But you left the Frankies to their own plans and went inside with the others to start gathering up your things. As you loaded up your backpack, you couldn't help noticing that some of the larger items, like Nami tangerine trees, weren't here. You assumed the shipwrights had already taken them to the ship. While you packed, the others talked about their bounties and what they thought the ship would look like. "That's a pretty awesome bounty to have for your first time," Luffy told Sanji with a grin as he swung his bag (full of meat) over his shoulder.
"OH SHUT UP!!!" Sanji fumed, pointing viciously at his poster. "Why am I the only one with a drawing!!? How does that even look like me, huh!!?"
"That's pretty much you..." Zolo drawled. Sanji was on him in an instant. He grabbed the front of Zolo's shirt, weird demon fire flowing from him in his rage. He shouted some unintelligible words, but you pretty much got the message >>FYI: the manga shows a bunch of meaningless symbols when he yells< <. Zolo sweatdropped. "Speak in words. We can't understand you..."
The rage seemed to leave Sanji in an instant, leaving him drained. He collapsed to the floor. "I'll be the laughing stock of ladies all around the world..."
Nami also didn't look too thrilled about her poster, though for different reasons. "I was tricked..." she bemoaned. "He said he was a local magazine columnist... The picture turned out cute so that's alright, but for me to get a bounty too..." You couldn't help but grin. First time you'd heard of someone posing for their own wanted picture.
"I'm a pirate too!" Chopper squalled. "I fought like a man! But at fifty berries, I gotta complain!!" You didn't get what the big deal was about being wanted. Did they want bounty hunters coming after them, in addition to the government?
"Well, just try harder next time!" Luffy replied. He turned to you and smiled brightly. "You're bounty's awesome, Vaughn!! It's way more than my first one was!!" Indeed, your first bounty was seven times as high as Luffy's.
You gave your captain a dry look. "Excuse me while I contain my enthusiasm." But you couldn't deny a sense of pride that the government considered you such a threat.
You heard Zolo snort behind you. "I figured you'd be happy."
Before you could respond, Sanji interrupted, "Just ignore him, Vaughn. He's just jealous that your bounty's higher than his."
"What was that!?" Zolo growled.
But before they could start arguing, you leaned over Zolo's shoulder and whispered tauntingly, "Does that make you a kept man?" A "kept man" was a young, handsome man that a wealthy or powerful woman was involved with, and usually bought him things to keep him around. Sort of like a trophy wife. Zolo just elbowed you in the stomach, making your chuckle.
"Stop dragging your feet!" Nami snapped, impatient to see the new ship. "Let's get going!!"
"Right!"
REST OF QUIZ IN RESULTS REMEMBER TO GO TO "ALL RESULTS" TO SEE VAUGHN'S BOUNTY POSTER
435-16.jpg
You had to run to keep up with Luffy as he raced towards the scrap yard. But you were just as eager to see this "dream ship" as the rest of them. Would Franky incorporate features from the Merry Go, or would it be completely different? When you got to the scrap yard, you were greeted by Iceberg standing in front of a huge white sheet, obviously covering the ship. "Heeey! Franky, we're here!!!" Luffy yelled, loud enough the whole island must've heard him. "Give us our ship!!!"
"You came," Iceberg greeted as you came to stop in front of him. He didn't seem upset at all by Luffy's shouting. In fact, he looked quite pleased. "Unfortunately, Franky left. However, the ship is complete. So I'll show it to you in his place..." Turning to grab the sheet, Iceberg smiled at you over his shoulder. "It's one that can truly cross over the seas. My eyes brightened when I saw the amazing plans for this ship. With this ship, traveling to the ends of the world is no longer a dream. That's what Franky wanted me to tell you all..."
The fanfare wasn't really necessary, as you were all dying to see the ship. "Hurry up and show us!" Luffy shouted, ready to explode.
"If you're really gong to be Pirate King one day, then you must ride the ship of the king of all beasts." And with hard yank, the sheet came off.
The ship dwarfed whatever you might've imagined it looked like. It was at least twice the size of the Merry Go. The figurehead with a smiling lion, painted yellow with a bright orange mane, sitting atop crossbones. The two masts were huge, with an enclosed crow's nest. There were at least three levels from what you could see, with another enclosed building sticking out of the back, above some kind of vent. The ship was painted red and yellow, and your crew's jolly roger was already on the main sail. There was also a giant 1 painted on the hull.
The entire crew was utterly delighted. Luffy's eyes shined like diamonds. "It looks like it could break out of a lot of places!!!"
Chopper was just as awestruck. "Wooooow, you're really giving us this!?"
Even Zolo was smiling. "Man, it's gotta be twice the size of Merry!"
"Now that's a pirate ship," you commented, eager to explore it.
"The kitchen!!! Show me the kitchen!!" Sanji exclaimed, hardly containing himself.
Robin smiled brightly. "A magnificent ship...!!"
"What sort of flowers are these around the ship's bow?" Luffy asked.
"I think that's a lion, Luffy," you answered. You could see why he thought it was a flower, though. The lion's mane stuck out sort of like the petals of a sunflower. Rather fitting, actually.
You didn't wait for an invitation to board the ship. Up close it was even more impressive. The entire lower deck had a lawn, with Nami's tangerine trees planted in it. "It's got a lawn for a deck!" Luffy squealed, rolling around on the grassy deck.
"And a slide!" Chopper added, sliding down the stairway on the opposite side of the deck.
"We could probably garden on it, too," Robin commented.
Nami was discussing the layout of the ship with Iceberg. "It looks like it has some good mobility! With that big gaff sail!!"
"It's called a brigantine sloop," Iceberg said. "A sloop is a ship that can sail as far as your imaginations take you. It lives and dies by the skill of its navigator."
Nami clenched her fists. "Yup, my skills are ready to go! I'll do my best!!"
Below deck, Sanji had found the kitchen. You could hear him shout, "It has the refrigerator with a lock on there like I've dreamed about! And it's even got a giant oven! Thanks, Franky, this ship is the best!" Franky said he was going to incorporate your wants into the ship's plans. You were eager to see the rest, but there was still a matter of finding the shipwright.
"Hey, Mr. Ice!" Luffy called from the bow. "Where's Franky? I wanna thank him!" You noticed the other shipwrights were there as well now, and seemed to enjoy your enthusiasm.
Looking up at Luffy, Iceberg informed you, "He doesn't seem to have any desire to see you all again. Straw Hat, do you want to invite him on as your shipwright?"
"Yup! You got it! I made up my mind, he's gonna be our shipwright!!"
Iceberg gave a knowing smile. "He seems to have somehow caught on to that."
You frowned. "So he's not here because he doesn't want to go?"
"Quite the opposite." Okay, that didn't make sense. Fortunately, Iceberg explained his theory. "However, if he were asked face to face, he just wouldn't have it in himself to turn you down. That's why he went into hiding. And well... his true desire is that he wants to go out to sea with you all. You must understand how he feels since this dream ship is one that he's cared about so deeply until now. Franky really seems to have taken a deep liking to all of you. But for him, he feels as though it's his duty to stay on this island forever."
"Duty?" Luffy asked. You couldn't say for certain, but you assumed it had something to do with Tom.
Iceberg sighed. "If you ask me... it's just a dumb obsession. If you all really, truly want him to go with you... then you need to use force to get him to go with you. That's the best way to break him free from here."
You raised an eyebrow at Iceberg's suggestion to use force, while Luffy gasped, "By force? Is that really alright?"
