Dreams Of You (A Kouga Love Story part 8)

It was another hot day in the feudal era. Its been three months since Kouga left you with Inuyasha and his friends. Everyone has been traveling east for some time now, following another rumor about a possible jewel shard. It was already past noon now and tensions were starting to run high among the group. You have been traveling since sun rise with no stopping. Every now and again the silence was broken by Kagome complaining about wanting to stop and Inuyasha yelling something about her being a pain, but he seemed to regret it afterwards.

Things continued on this way for another couple of hours, until Kagome stopped walking and once again demanded that everyone make camp. Inuyasha continued to walk as if everything she had said was caught on a breeze. "Inuyasha, we need to stop, I'm hot, I'm tired, and I want to take a bath." said kagome with an annoyed tone to her voice. "Damn it Kagome, have you forgotten that its your fault we are searching for the jewel shards in the first place!" yelled a very irritated Inuyasha. "Oh no." You heard Shippo say while he jumped from Miroku's shoulder onto yours to cower behind your ponytail, "this isn't good" All you could do was watch the events play out in front of you from a safe distance, which Miroku decided was at least 10 meters away.

"Inuyasha SIT!" Kagome screamed at the silver haired boy, the beads around Inuyasha's neck began to glow, as some unseen force pummeled Inuyashas face into the ground. "I can't believe just how rude and inconsiderate you are, ugh just SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT!" By the time Kagome was done, nothing could be seen of the stubborn half demon except for the now visible hole that you knew Inuyasha now laid in. "Wow, umm...is he ok?" you asked Sango who had came to stand beside you, "He will be fine, this kind of thing happens all the time. I'm going to go collect some fire wood; I will be back in a while." She said as she headed into the woods with Kilala at her heels. Turning your attention to Shippo who was now perched on your shoulder like a bird, "I think I will go see if Inuyasha is ok," you told Shippo as you started walking towards the battle ground. You saw Shippo smirking out of the corner of your eye, He must like seeing him in pain, I don't blame him, and Inuyasha is mean to the little guy. As you approached the hole Inuyasha seemed to be making progress from escaping his prison, but you could still hear him groaning and muttering things under his breath as you passed a now very happy Kagome. You stood at the edge of the deep hole with a very pissed off Inuyasha staring up at you, "what do you want?" he growled as his hand slipped and slid back into the hole. As he once again started muttering things that you just couldn't make out under his breath. "Well I wanted to see if you were alright and offer you my help but if youre just going to bark then maybe I won't." You growled at him. Shippo jumped onto your other shoulder, "Are you feeling ok (Y/N)? It's not like you to be so umm..." as he paused to think "Its ok Shippo I just don't feel that well." "Oh well alright, but dont worry about Inuyasha he deserved what he got." said the little fox as he turned and stuck his tongue out. "You just wait Shippo when I get out of here, I'll show you what you deserve!" "KAGOME!" yelled Shippo as he jumped off your shoulder and ran over to the once again annoyed Kagome. "Inuyasha sit boy.

Few minutes later camp was being prepared, once Sango returned with some wood. Now the once again cheerful Kagome was getting ready to set out to find a hot spring to bathe in. "Sango, (Y/N), are you coming?" Both of you quickly got up and followed the raven haired girl into the forest in search of a hot spring. Finally after wondering around for awhile you found one. Kagome let out a scream of joy as she ran towards the hot spring pulling Sango along with her. You couldn't seem to concentrate, your mind going over everything that has happened, but always returning to the wolf prince. You stared up at the now darkening sky, "It's a full moon tonight." But why should that matter to me? I've never cared that it was a full moon before you thought, placing your hands on your stomach. You couldn't ignore the feeling of something wanting to escape from inside you Is it my beast? "(Y/N), did you say something?" the sound of your name bringing you out of your thoughts. You glanced over in the direction you heard the voice; the two girls were already in the hot springs motioning for you to join them. You undressed and sank into the hot water up to your chin, your ears twitching at the sounds of your two companions talking back and forth. "Its times like this it makes you really miss the technologies of the future, right (Y/N)?" "(Y/N)?"you felt a gentle tap on your shoulder as you rested with your head on the warm rocks at the edge of the spring. " "(Y/N), are you alright?" you just nod your head in reply. Maybe she's still upset that Kouga left." You heard Sango whisper to Kagome as your ear twitched in their direction. You spun around and gave them a forced smile, "No, I'm fine."

A half and hour later, both Kagome and Sango had left, leaving you alone in the hot spring. Neither of them wanted to leave you alone, but you insisted and told them both you would return soon. Kagome had left you her soaps and shampoos, which you were overjoyed with. After months of just taking quick bathes in rivers or on rare occasions in a village inn, you had scrubbed away all the dirt that had collected. The hot springs felt wonderful, all your tension just melted away.

Mean while...
"Kouga where are we going? We've been all over the pack's territory three times now, nothing is going on. Can't we head back to the den now, it's getting late" said a very tired Hakkaku. "Yeah, yeah, we can go back." said Kouga as he turned and started running off in the direction of the wolf den with Ginta and Hakkaku close behind. "Kouga is everything ok with you?" asked a worried Ginta. It was true something was bothering him, he felt restless, and hed kept Hakkaku and Ginta moving all day, patrolling the territory. He kept feeling something moving towards him. It was driving his beast insane; nothing had affected him like this before.

A light breeze swept through the trees, blowing his hair lightly in the wind. It carried the same scent that he had smelled all day. It was sweet, like spring when the flowers first bloom. You two go on ahead, I'll catch up later." Kouga told his two comrades. He felt his beast churning for a release, he knew his eyes were starting to bleed red. He turned and began to run in another direction.

Using his speed he would be coming upon whatever it was that was driving him insane very soon. He slowed his pace as he began to get close to a clearing. He could hear water splashing. He took a few light sniffs of the air, that scent filled the air, it was sweet and it was calling to him. He knew now that it was (Y/N) and she was in heat.

You sat upon the warm stones of the hot spring wrapped in a towel Kagome had left behind. The wind was slowly drying your hair as you picked sticks and other kinds of matter out of your tail that didn't want to wash out on its own. You sat humming to yourself as you went about your task when you heard a twig snap behind you. You froze. Shit. Why didn't I sense something? You sniffed the air but the steam from the hot spring masked everything. You began to slowly get to your feet. At least you could defend yourself and try to escape.

"It's just me (Y/N). Dont be frightened." you heard a deep voice say from the shadows of the bushes. "Kouga?!" you let out a sigh of relief as he pushed his way out of the bushes and came to stand in front of the spring. You stood in shock, staring at the wolf. I thought I would never see him again. You felt your legs move before you knew what you were doing. You made your way out of the hot spring and ran over to Kouga, wrapping your arms around him. Resting your head on the cold metal of his armor, the temperature change making your body shiver in the wind. Slowly you began to pull away from him, embarrassed at what you had just done. "Sorry Kouga." you mumbled as you began to turn away from him. He grabbed you quickly, wrapping his arms around your waist, pinning you to him.

"I've missed you (Y/N)." He whispered into your ear, while taking in the scent of your slightly damp hair. "I've missed you too Kouga." You two stood there, embracing each other in the moonlight. He pulled away slowly and looked you in the eyes, "(Y/N) can I talk to you?" you nodded your head as he took you by the hand and led you over to a grassy area near the spring and motioned for you to sit down. He had such a serious look on his face and he began pacing back and forth in front of you. "Kouga, what is it?" you asked him, not trying to hide the worry in your voice. He stopped pacing and you watched as he ran a hand roughly through his hair until he came to his ponytail. "What is it you want from me?" you shot him a look upon hearing that question, how did he want you to answer that, what kind of question is that. "Kouga, I don't know how to answer that," you wrapped your arms around yourself as the wind blew through the clearing reminding you that only a damp towel kept your form hidden from the world, "I have feelings for you, I think I love you, but I also know how you feel and I don't think I could stay here and always be in second place." Kouga turned away, thoughts running through his head, how does she know how I feel, I've never said anything and second place? He crouched in front of you on the grass and laid a hand gently on your arm, "(Y/N), you'll never be second place, I want you." he watched as your head shot up to stare him in the face, confusion and happiness written across your face, "But Kouga what about Kagome? I know you have feelings for her. So how can you say that?" you scanned his face trying to find the answers, trying to prepare yourself for the worst, to feel your heart break even more. "Youre right. I do have feelings for Kagome. Some part of me will always love her but my feelings towards her are different now. I care only for her as a friend."



He let out a small growl, not an intimidating one, one like he was getting frustrated; he pushed himself off of the grass and grabbed your wrists. "I want you, I've never wanted anyone the way I want you." You were still confused and Kouga knew it.

He had to get his point across to you before his beast took control. He breathed in your scent, he knew for a fact that you were in heat and it was only the human stubbornness that was keeping your beast at bay now. He had only one option left to him now before he did something he would regret for the rest of his life if he didn't make you see soon. He pulled you into his arms and kissed you. He had to make you see. He kissed you with his entire soul and all the love he wanted to give you. When he pulled away, he heard a small whimper from your gasping form. He lifted your chin and in your eyes he saw the same raw need that he knew also shown in his. You gave a samll nod telling him you knew what was to come next and you would not refuse. He picked you up bridal style and ran in the direction of a near by cave. He was going to make sure no one else could lay claim to you after tonight.
