Damn it Kouga yelled as he put his fist through the tree in front of him and began growling. He continued kicking boulders and demolishing trees in his path. The once peaceful area was now a disaster. He breathed heavy from exsoution and anger. Over the course of a few days, Kouga's mood had become foul.

He prowled through the undergrowth of the forest waiting for his chance to strike. Lying down on a tree limb his stomach growled, reminding him of the last time hed eaten was the morning before. The smell of fear rising from the prey he had been stalking for an hour now was intoxicating. He sat silent, watching the deer as their ears twitched with every new sound. They knew something was wrong, they just couldn't understand what it was. His stomach gave a loud growl again, "Shit" Kouga muttered as he noticed the smell of fear spike from the deer in front of him. He leapt from his ideal hiding spot, hidden in the trees. It had taken awhile to get the deer in an area where they couldn't see him or smell him on the wind and that one sound gave it all away. Kouga let out a low growl as the sound of running hoofs met his ears, like thunder in an open valley.

He felt his claws rip into the tender flesh of the squirming animal. The blood ran over his hands and down his arms as it fell onto the ground. It's cries slowly fading into the coming night. Kouga stood, raising one of his hands to his mouth and licking the drying blood away as he looked over his kill. He had managed to kill two rather large deer; a doe and a buck. The idiots had ran straight into a dead end. He hefted his kill onto his shoulders and proceeded to make his way back to the waiting pack.

When Kouga had finally returned to the den, the sun had almost set leaving an orange tint behind the trees. He could see and smell the fire that was started outside the den. The roasting of meat caught on the wind from the success of the other hunters of the pack. He had insisted on hunting by himself.

"Wow! Kouga great job." Ginta said hungrily as Kouga threw the deer at the base of the fire. He didn't reply, he snatched what looked to be the remains of a skinned rabbit from the edge of the fire and began to devour it. Ginta and Hakkaku watched as their leader made his way behind the waterfall, disappearing from site. "I wish there was some way we could help." Ginta said as he came to sit by his friend. "I know, I wonder if he will ever be himself again." Hakkaku said as he hung his head. "Our fearless leader has gone over the edge, he's insane." came the voice of a young male from a small group a few feet away from Ginta and Hakkaku. They both released a low growl from deep with in their throats at the cocky young male. He was out of place to be voicing such comments and right in front of the second highest ranking males of the pack.

The two began to put the young wolves back into their place. It was the rumor that was spreading through the pack like fire. Kouga their great leader had lost his nerve among a few other things including his sanity. But Ginta and Hakkaku wouldn't stand by and watch as the pack fell apart. Kagome had asked them and the members of the pack to give Kouga time. That was all he needed. The two would remain loyal to him no matter what and make sure the pack did too.

Kouga lay outside on his cliff. Watching as the moon rose over the trees and the stars shone brightly in the sky. Time passed slowly for Kouga. It was as if everything was happening, but time wasn't really moving. The days after (Y/N) disappeared he found himself dreaming of her. How her face was always smiling back at him. He remembered her clearly, the way her hair blew in the breeze. How he could count on her gentle smile, her cheeks always blushing a light shade of pink when she caught him looking at her or the other way around. But most of all was her scent. She smelled sweeter then the wild flowers that grew around him. The scent engulfed him. A feeling of falling suddenly came over him.

Kouga woke with a start. He was panting slightly; the dreams were becoming more frequent now. At time he swore he could almost smell her scent. Kouga sighed heavily and relaxed onto a rock he had fallen asleep on. The moon was covered up by a ribbon of wispy clouds that were only visible because of the light behind them. He continued to stare up at the stars that shone down upon him, but only half seeing them. A breeze blew through the trees, making the leaves rustle and the branches sway. It swept over him, having no choice but to take in the scents that were carried upon it. The light scents of the forest were abundant, the musky smell of some low level demons that were off in the distance and then the scent of wild flowers. Kouga leapt to his feet, sniffing the air again, filling his nostrils. The scent of flowers was still there but it was different, the air swirled around him almost urging him to move, to follow. His heart pounded so loudly in his chest he thought it would wake the entire pack.

Kouga ran through the forest, his heart still pounding loudly in his chest. He heard her before he saw her. She was standing near a large tree to his left. Her hands were splayed across the rough trunk of the old tree. Her cheek resting gently upon one of her hands. Her eyes closed as she hummed a soft song to herself. The moon shone brightly upon her, revealing even more of her features. Kouga felt his breath catch in his chest; she looked like a goddess in the moonlight. He watched as her eyes slowly opened as if she sensed him. Tears began to run down her cheeks, reflecting the moons glow. "Kouga?!" came a small whisper. It was all it took for the wolf prince to run towards her. She looked directly into his eyes and appeared lost in the depths as he approached her, she let her hand slide down the bark of the tree and falls to her side. He slowed his pace as he got closer, unsure if it was just another trick, a dream that he had fallen for time and time again. That she would disappear from him again, and leave him kneeling in the dirt.

Kouga stopped a few feet away, afraid to touch her. (Y/N) closed the distance between them. Her hand lifted to his face. Her fingers brushed against his cheek lightly as she kept her gaze focused on his eyes. A single tear slid down the cheek of the wolf prince. Kouga wrapped his arms around (Y/N), taking her into a tight embrace. Never wanting to let go of her again. He picked her up lightly in his arms and sat down on the soft forest floor. His legs unable to support him any longer. He sat her in his lap where she stayed curled up against his chest. After about a minute she stirred and opened her eyes.

He pulled away from her, releasing her slightly from his arms. He found himself holding his breath from the thrill of finally seeing her. He took her in, not wanting that moment to end. She was looking right back, looking at him with those beautiful gray eyes, the way he had longed for her to do. He let his eyes follow the lines of her face. Over her mouth, her chin. He let them fall to her collar bone, his hand tracing the mark on her neck. He moved his eyes over her shoulders, down her arms to her hands. He then looked back up into her eyes and she smiled gently back at him. He watched as her lips quivered as she tried to speak, trying to fight back tears. Kouga did not give her a chance to speak. He slammed his lips against hers in a passionate kiss. When he pulled away he watched tears slide down her blushing face as she nestled her head into his chest. He pulled her closer, if that was at all possible, resting his head upon hers. "I've been dreaming of you (Y/N)." He moved his head to look down at her as she returned his gaze, a look of surprise on her face. "I've been dreaming of you too Kouga." He knew he would never doubt his feeling again.

Your POV

He leaned into you and pressed his lips to yours. You embraced the moment and closed your eyes slowly, not wanting to lose him ever again. It was a gentle and soft kiss. You felt his lips against yours, his hands on your face, as hot tears ran down your cheeks. His hands never left your face as you brought your hands up to place them over his before moving them to hold his face to yours. You scooted forward, moving yourself closer to him. Your hands moved down from his face, to across his chest, over his shoulders, and over his arms, before they came to rest on his chest. All the while his hands never left your cheeks and the kiss never broke.

You stayed like that for a moment. When you finally pulled away you could feel his hot breath on your face. You both opened your eyes, both breathing a little heavier than usual; your face was pink from blushing and crying. Kouga still held your face in his hands. He wiped the tears away from your cheeks and laid gentle kisses where they once had been as he made his way back to your lips. He removed one hand from your face and took both your wrists in that one hand, holding them to his chest while he deepened the kiss. He pulled away, your eyes still closed. He leaned forward; you could feel his hot breath as his mouth came next to your ear. "I love you (Y/N) and from this day on I am never letting you go." he whispered.

A few years had passed now. Everything returned to normal after that night. It was as if it was all a bad dream. Naraku had been defeated and even though Kouga wasn't there to fight him in person he didn't mind. Though his revenge had been important to him, he had to look after the future of his pack. (Y/N) had given birth to twins, a boy and a girl and they were now expecting another in a few months. The oldest, Kazuhiko their son, was brave and rash like his father and resembled him in every way except for the wolf like ears upon his head. Their daughter, Misaki, was shy and timid with a kind and gentle heart at her young age. She took after her mother, long brown hair and gentle spirit but piercing blue eyes like her father.
The proud parents sat on the bank of the river watching as their pups chased around Ginta with the litter of wolf pups at their heels. Kouga laid his head in his mates lap, stretching and yawning, turning his gaze up to look at his mate. (Y/N) smiled down at him. Laughing at the antics of her children as they knocked a confused Ginta into the water and proceeded to stalk the unaware Hakkaku. It was happy times at the wolf den and Kouga wouldn't have it any other way.
