"Happy birthday dear Gerard! Happy birthday to you!" The dark haired man took a deep breath and blew out the 17 candles on his cake. He then smiled a big grin at the important people surrounding him.
His parents, who had gotten home from California two day earlier, stood staring happily at him. They had always been there for him, no matter what. Then there was his brother, Mikey. As many times as Gerard wanted to punch his face in, he remembered where he'd be without him. Gerard then looked at Frank, Ray, and Bob. He realized then that without them, he would've died a long time ago. Audrey caught Gerard's eye next. Even though he'd only met her about two weeks ago, he had fallen in love with her within a couple of hours. He loved her to no end, but them being together wasn't official yet. Gerard wanted it to be, and he would do anything in his power to be with Audrey.
Gerard snuck another sip of the wine cooler sitting on the table behind him and got up, walking over to his friends. When he reached them, he realized they were talking about all the crazy times they've had together.
"Do you remember," Frank was saying. "When we all were playing in the playground and Audrey fell off the swings? She thought she was going to die just because she scraped her elbow!" Audrey's face got red but she still laughed.
"What about when Frank got his foot stuck in the toilet?" She continued. "My dad had to call the fire station and Frank kept telling them not to flush him down the toilet!" The friends burst into laughter. Frank sighed when it was quiet again.
"I miss being a kid."
"Yeah," agreed Mikey. "There wasn't that much responsibility we had to have."
"We would play all day without a car in the world." Audrey sighed and laid her head down on Frankie's shoulder.
"Gerard," Everyone looked over to see Mr. and Mrs. Way walking towards them. "Your mother and I are going to go to a hotel so all of you could invite more people over and have a bigger party. We'll be back in the morning." They both waved a good-bye and closed the door behind them. Bob turned to Mikey and Gerard.
"Do they know that none of us have any other friends?"
"Apparently not." Gerard said. He walked over to the kitchen counter and picked up a beer bottle. "But there's no adults in the house until morning and there's tons of booze in here. So why not live it up a little?" He took a large gulp of the beer and turned up the music.
