Lily would have never imagined that working at Wonka's factory would be so eventful and full of mischief--for her. But the next morning, when she set off to work, she was surprised to hear the Oompa Loompa's singing. In fact, they continued to do it all day. They had put Lily in such a good mood, that she soon found herself bouncing along to the music. Though she wasn't paying much attention to the words, she hummed and danced with a glowing smile.

Lily stopped dancing, and tapped one of her fingers on the nearest Oompa Loompa's shoulder.
"Excuse me," just as she said this, they all stopped their vocal cords, to look up at her. "Well this is awkward" she mumbled, with a nervous smile. The little Oompa Loompa, (well actually they were very little), tugged on Lily's pants slightly, urging her to go on. "Oh right, I was just wondering what my next job is."

For her first day on the job, Lily had already performed, and successfully completed a great deal of tasks. She had mowed the mint lawn, planted fresh new lollipops, watered the chocolate roses, and inspected the Chocolate waterfall for any misplaced objects that happened to be floating in there--there were none, thankfully. Willy would have had a fit; perhaps more than a fit. Maybe he would be so upset that his pale face would turn purple, just like his eyes! And then his eyes would pop out of his head, like Lily used to watch in those cartoons at her aunt's house, and steam would erupt from his ears, and then--

Well, Lily didn't have time to have a then, because the Oompa Loompa that stood before her, had been tugging on her pants quite vigorously that they were nearing a fall.
"Heh, sorry...I zoned off." Lily mumbled. The Oompa Loompa, however, didn't seem to care. He simply stuck his hand out towards her, holding a crisp white sheet of paper. Lily took it politely, pocketing it, and made her way over to the nearest tree. She might as well take a rest for a few minutes; she hadn't been given a break yet.

She sat down against the candy cherry tree, and pulled out the note. It was from Charlie.

Meet me in Willy's room after you're finished. Please.

Charlie Bucket.

And so Lily did exactly that. She crossed the bridge over the chocolate river, laughing along the way at the memories of drowning in it.

"Hello Cha-WOAH!" A good pull on the forearm from Charlie, and Lily had gone tumbling into the room. And of course, because she was the type and it must have been in her genes, she clumsily fell to the ground. Charlie peered at her with no feeling of guilt of having been the one to bring her down at such a great force. Lily looked like a fool sprawled on the floor, face down, while her nose got acquainted with the ground. She flipped over, now sitting on her bum, and legs spread out before her. She tussled her hair, looking at up at Charlie with pinched eyebrows.

"Nice to see you too." she retorted, and helped herself up. "So, what's up?"
Lily viewed Charlie's attire; ruffled, and untidy. He appeared to be tired one small stab to his nerves and he would certainly blow. Charlie sighed, throwing himself on Willy's bed. Lily stood silently, feeling the awkward tension in the air. She fiddled her thumbs waiting for him to say something. Obviously, that was going to be any time soon. "Is everything alright Charlie?" she decided to ask.

"Just great!" he threw his arms up into the air. "There's so many events coming up and I've got only 2 weeks for the most important on the list!" Charlie turned over, and sat up. "Two weeks is NOT enough! I'm frustrated, and everyone else is so subtle about it, that it gets me even more stressed!" Lily sat down next to Charlie, trying to catch in on what he was screaming about. "I'm just a kid Lily!" He shook her briskly by the arms, with frightened, wide eyes. "KIDS DON'T GET STRESSED!" Lily had the deep urge to run away, only problem was that the little boy had dug his fingernails into her arms. So if she had attempted to run away, he would have hung on. That--and she was petrified about what had just happened. Luckily, she had a solution for Charlie's "blow up".

"Look Charlie," she started out calmly, trying to smile without looking worried. "Whatever it is that you're stressing about--don't." Clearly, Charlie was only confused by this. "I know I'm not the best person for this, but I can help--what ever it is that you're stressed about." Suddenly a wide, satisfied, smile appeared on the boy's face.
"I knew you would!" Charlie grinned wider. "That's why I called you here." Lily returned the smile, and then with a somewhat painful look she said,
"That's real great Charlie, now would you mind removing your fingernails from my arms?"
man you took FOREVER to update!(me: yes...I would know. I'm truly, so sorry...but not to you, to all the other readers :D) *gasp* How rude!><

Charlie ended up talking about everything BUT what happened to be the most important event of them all. Lily guessed that he was purposely trying to avoid it, whatever that important matter happened to be. Lily's arms were crossed loosely around her. She let out a huff of air, staring down at Charlie with pure boredom. Sure everything that was to take place in two weeks was quite exuberant, only Charlie's excuses weren't. There had to be some nasty catch to this. There always ways.

"...and you're just going to love all the food, and the people--they're really polite and wonderful, though I haven't met all of them." Charlie's mouth rattled on and on like the commercials on a radio. "Plus you get to wear all those pretty clothes that will--"
"CHARLIE!" Now was the time, if it hadn't been now, it would have been never. Who knew the little boy had so much to say. He could have gone talking for hours until his lungs had dried out and shrivelled into nothing. Mrs. Bucket probably wouldn't have been very fond of that. So Lily could conclude that she had saved two lives; Charlie's from vanishing his lungs and hers from dying of boredom.
"I know what you're trying to do, and it's not going to work." Lily stood up, crossing her eyebrows at him. "I may be a hobo, but I'm not stupid."
"I didn't say you--"
"There's no time for small talk Charlie." Lily shoved her glove covered hand in his face. "Whatever it is that you're hiding from me," she paced around the room, and then suddenly stopped; facing Charlie, "just let it out. I promise I won't get mad."
Charlie raised his eyebrows, a guilty smile forming on his face. Very slowly and cautiously he got up from the bed and moved toward the door. And with that same guilty smile on his face, he said,

"Alrightnow since you promised not to get angry, I'll take that as you won't cause me any harm either." A nervous laugh erupted from his small throat. Lily, on the other hand, didn't find any of this very amusing.
"Willy's birthday is coming up." Charlie finally let out, after taking a deep, penetrating breath. Lily's frown immediately dropped, and she burst out into maniacal laughter. Tears formed at the edge of her eyes, her arms wrapped around her stomach trying to hold back the pain of laughing so hard. She edged closer to the bed, preventing herself from falling.

"That's it?" she said, after she had finally returned to her normal self. "That's the "big" event?"
Now it was Charlie who didn't seem to be very amused, but annoyed with Lily's mad laughter breakdown; she was a laughing idiot. (me: sound familiar....*cough* waterfall *cough*)
"What's the big deal about Willy's birthday? Is it a surprise?" Lily asked. There it was. The "s" word. Now, the truth was to be revealed, completely. Charlie bit his lower lip, once again becoming nervous.
"Sort of..." he started." Actually, yes. It's a surprise party, so don't tell him!"
Lily threw her hands up in defence.
"No worries mate," she swished past him, and opened the door, "I won't say a word." She looked him straight in the face, pretending to zip her lips. And then turning around, she headed out the door, but then stopped right away, in her tracks. Reason being, Charlie had blurted out everything.
"You have to plan his birthday!"
Lily's huge eyes speared Charlie's, and she grabbed him by the collar.
"WHAT?"
"This is what I was afraid of." Charlie mumbled. His hands clasped over Lily's, preventing them from enveloping around his skinny neck. And with his eyes closed tightly shut, he prayed for his life.

Lily breathed heavily, not in the mood for a joke. That's what she thought Charlie was doing, joking. She reluctantly let go of his collar, and closed the door. Then she grabbed at his arm, and pulled him to the bed, sitting him down firmly. She pulled the chair away from Willy's desk, placing her bottom on its flat surface.
"You better be joking around Charlie." she said.
"I'm not." he winced, throwing his hands up in the air. Lily pulled them down, and he opened his eyes.
"I'm not going to hurt you, just tell me what you're talking about."
"Well you see," Charlie started, "since I have too many events to plan already--with Willy, I won't have any time to plan his surprise birthday party."
"What about your par--"
"No. They're too busy."
"Doing what?"
"Too many questions!" Charlie stood up, pacing back and forth. "Why don't you want to plan Willy's birthday anyways? It's a chance for you to--" Lily stood up as well, interrupting him abruptly.
"No! We don't get a long! And besides," striding towards the door, she turned the knob and pulled it open, "I'm supposed to be working every morning. I have no time for this." She turned to walk out the door, but bumped into Willy. Lily had bounced back a little bit, but Willy had remained perfectly still, left to dust off the space where Lily had bumped into him. She scowled, turning back to Charlie.

Willy eyed the both of them suspiciously, stepping inside his room.
"Why are you two in my room?"
Lily opened her mouth to answer, but Charlie stepped on her foot, answering for her.
"I was just telling Lily she could go on a break now." he smiled, but Willy's face still remained in a frown. "She's been working really hard you know."
Lily looked down at Charlie in pain and a bit of confusion, wondering why all of a sudden he was praising her. Perhaps it was a way to manipulate her into agreeing with his plans for Willy's birthday.
"Alright then" Willy didn't seem to believe this excuse, so before he could research further into this matter, Charlie grabbed Lily's hand and they finally left the room.

They made their way towards the Bucket's house, while Charlie attempted to further his plan into success.
"Look Lily," he stepped in front of her, "the good news is you won't have to work around the factory anymore."
"Huh?" Lily blurted, with both her eyebrows raised.
"You'll be around Willy all the time, getting to know him better, to see what he likes and dislikes so you know how to organize this party!" He smiled widely, trying to make it sound "fun".
Lily tapped her chin, staring down at Charlie and his pleading eyes. It didn't sound so bad, but then again she would have to be spending all day with Willy and they didn't exactly get along like best friends, or anywhere close.
"Well..." she contemplated.
"It's a way to show Willy that you're trust worthy, and he won't think you're that much of a hob---just some homeless off the street." Lily scowled. "Which you're not!" Charlie quickly said. "Also, you get to visit different places, and other chocolate factories around the world!"
Now Lily was starting to form a smile on her face, this was better then she thought it would be.
"I guess I could. Just for you." she replied, patting Charlie on the shoulder. He blushed, biting his lip. "But what about Willy? Does he know?"
Charlie's once again began to get nervous, and blushed harder in embarrassment.
"No...but I'm planning to bring it up at dinner. I already told mum, and she said it would be a great idea!" Charlie smiled worriedly, sticking out his hand.
"Agreed?"
"Er....alright! Agreed!" She shook Charlie's small hand.

Charlie had decided to give Lily the rest of the day off, and Willy hadn't seemed to mind as much as he normally would. Which Lily found a bit abnormal, because the little bit of information she knew about Willy, he wouldn't have been ok with it. There seemed to be something on his mind. But she didn't have time to worry about that just yet.

Lily spent the rest of the day with the Bucket's, entertaining them with her unusual jokes, and telling them stories of her childhood on the streets. They didn't seem to find her weird at all, but warm, and loving, plus a little bit crazy--which they loved the most about her. Before Lily knew it, dinner time had arrived, and in walked Charlie and Willy. The table was set with warm and great smelling food. They all seated themselves around the table, digging in. Though Charlie seemed to be the only one not eating.
"Ahem," Charlie stood up, looking around the table. Everyone dropped their forks, and focused their eyes on him. "Today I spoke to mum about Lily. Since Willy is going to visit some of the other Chocolate factories, I thought it would be a good idea for Lily to go with him."
Willy immediately sprayed out his water that had just gone into his mouth. It ended up on Lily's face. She smiled grimly, wiping the moisture off of her face.
"Thanks." she said between clenched teeth. Willy ignored, looking sternly at Charlie.
"WHAT!? Charlie are you insane?"
Charlie shook his head no, which made Lily laugh. But with one hard glare from Willy, she immediately shut herself up. "Charlie, boy, you're supposed to be travelling with around Europe, not Lily. She's supposed to be working here, paying off her debt. I don't see where you came up with this idea."
"But I've already seen the chocolate factories." Charlie argued back. "And I think it would be a great experience for Lily. She's lived on the streets for most of her life, no offence Lily," he said giving her a quick glance, "this would be a wonderful chance for her. She's got a great personality Willy. She'll be a great attraction to the other chocolate's. And just watch, they'll ALL come to the party that you're having this year."
Willy's jaw tightened and Lily could tell that something had gone wrong at last years party. So she decided to ask.

"Well," Charlie began, "Last year, Willy had accidentally insulted some of the Chocolatier's, not on purpose though. So they never ended up coming to the party. And every year we have one, so all the chocolate's can gather together, showing off their new inventions and such. And at the end there's a prize for the chocolatier that has the most amazing invention."
"And what's that?" Lily asked, beginning to get intrigued by all this.
"Well it's a surprise each year, and only Willy knows that."
Then all of a sudden, Willy got up from the table.
"And I'm not telling." he said briskly, heading for the door.
"Hold up Willy!" Lily yelled out, "I can understand that you don't want me to go." He stopped in his tracks, and turned to Lily, with a glimmer in his eyes. "Charlie," she turned towards him "maybe this isn't such a great idea."
"Of course it is!" Grandpa Joe said, banging his fork on the table.
Mr. Bucket patted him on the arm to quiet him down, but he stood up with great force.
"Lily's a wonderful person! She'll win over the hearts of all the chocolate's I'm telling you! You just wait and see."
"I agree!" Grandpa George said, standing up as well.
"Me too!" Grandma Josephine pleaded, standing up.
"Lollipops!" Grandma Georgina yelled out at the top of her lungs, joining the other three elders.

Who knew that such a little suggestion would go such a along way, causing four grandparents to protest. Lily smiled at the thought that she had won herself into their hearts; it felt nice.
"So you're all saying that I won't be able to invite the other chocolate's myself?"
"Of course not Willy," Mrs. Bucket said, warmly.
"Yes, we are." Grandpa Joe intruded. "That's why you need Lily. Plus I think you two would make a great couple." he smiled showing his pearly white teeth.
"EW!" Lily and Willy screamed. Everyone else laughed.
"...so, is it a yes then?" Charlie prodded.
Willy let out a reluctant sigh, and said.
"Fine. She can come." Willy sat back down at the table, and the grandparents seated themselves back down as well. "Just not dressed like that." he mumbled. "OW!" he suddenly yelped, grabbing at his leg.
Lily had managed to kick him, and placed a nice smile on her face.
"So it's settled then." Mr. Bucket said. "Lily, you get to travel around Europe with Willy to invite to Chocolatier's to the party."
Lily nodded, smiling her bright smile. It was a bit hard for her to believe that she, Lily, would be touring around Europe. Unfortunately she was stuck with Willy; though she did see this as a way to stop the arguments between them, and let a new friendship grow.

So it was settled, Lily would be visiting the other Chocolate factories, with Willy, while trying to figure out...well him, so she could plan his surprise birthday party.

Boy was this going to be one big hassle.
O.M.G Lily get's to go with Willy! This is so totally awesome! (me: *covers ears* NO MORE GIRLY TALK! GAAH! *runs away*)
