"I'll talk to you guys later, kay?" Lyd mentioned as she pulled her cell phone out of the pocket of her blazer that was hanging in her locker.
"Okay. Later, hun." I called out walking toward my maths room. The letter from Ben still lingers not to far from my conscious mind.
Dear Pen pal,
My name is Ben; I am also your pen pal. I'm sorry but I have to say this.
I am so unbelievably happy. This guy here that I've liked for a while in the gay community here at Donovan finally asked me out. It's like a dream come true!
Sincerely,
Ben Phlanx
At first I thought that I'd get someone else and they would make my life living hell. Ben doesn't seem like the person who'd do that but hey, you never know. He could be some creepy stalker kid who's out to get me. My letter seemed harsh at the beginning, mainly because he didn't talk much about himself.
Dear Ben,
Congrats on your new boyfriend. No offence but can you tell me a bit about you? Your name isn't enough and for all I know you could be some creepy kid who'd be pulling this act in order to win me over and then kill me.
my name's Leah and I am a sophomore. You guessed it. I am your pen pal. My two greatest friends, Dev and Lyd, are like the sisters I wish I had. I am the middle child of seven. I've got my divorced parents, my older sisters, Victoria and Melanie, who are both in college, and my younger brother and sister, Corey and Kailey. I love going to movies and if you're ever here I would advise eating at McHarrison's. They have the best-barbecued chicken.
I my spare time I play basketball and I really want to do it professionally. But my dad wants me to be a model. I hate him.
Sincerely
Leah Walker
I sighed taking a seat in Mr. Peerdaughter's classroom. I looked over at Lydia's empty seat. When the bell rang I glanced over at the door to catch her coming in late. She never showed. I cocked an eyebrow and pulled out my phone and vigorously typed a text to Lyd. where r u? I slammed it shut and stuffed it into my blazer pocket before Mr. Peerdaughter called my name in his low, monotone voice.
"Leah. Can you tell me what the answer is for 'x'?" he turned around. He was very lean and in comparison to Mr. Baker he was a toothpick. He had large thick rimmed glasses to magnify his bug-like grey eyes. His white shirt was tucked into this dress pants and a pocket protector filled with assorted pens decorated his left breast pocket. His fading strawberry blonde hair was brushed over in a mockery of the trumps.
I looked at the problem 4x+17=4x-13 "uh. No answer..?" I tilted my head.
"You sound unsure." He drooled on looking at me. As the bell rang and everyone began to pack up, he continued about the homework that needed to be done. "Don't forget to do problems one through twenty-four on pages one-seventy-three to one-seventy-five. Leah," he stopped me from leaving for a few minutes. "Tell Lydia about the homework for tonight?"
I nodded slowly and pressed out a quick, "sure," before leaving.
