Daniel was bored that night. After the evening before, just sitting there seemed like a waste of time. He was hiding out from the law, so he probably could not show his face in any town ever again…for a while at least. Kacey had gone off to…somewhere. Ashleigh was in confinement so she did not attack him. And Hollie had gone outside to find some herb or mushroom or something, too busy to talk.
His mind conversation with Ashleigh had certainly offended her because she had not said anything after that. It was true that everything she had done scared him out of his wits. What if she came for him next? What would he do? That might just put him out of his misery though.
His bedroom door opened. Daniel looked up to see Ashleigh standing in his doorway. She was smiling, fangs protruding out from her mouth. They were shining, pure white. Startling compared to the blood stained color Daniel half expected to see. She leaned against the doorframe of his room.
Daniel wanted to launch himself at her. He wanted to beat her, cause her the pain he will suffer for the years to come. Common sense kept him where he was. She was capable of everything right up there with murder. He backed up a few steps.
“What?” asked Ashleigh.
“You’re not supposed to be in here,” replied Daniel trying to sound calm.
Ashleigh laughed. It was cold and cruel.
“Not supposed to be in here?” she repeated. “Might I say that I am free to do what I will and a mortal like yourself cannot stop me.”
She did not move though. Daniel was still nervous that she was out of her room. Hollie was far out of earshot and Kacey was no where to be found. He tried to keep his heartbeat slow because that was something that might tempt Ashleigh.
Daniel folded his arms. Why was she even bothering him? Perhaps she had been so pissed off at him that she was just going to finish him off. Well, she practically killed him anyway as he could not go anywhere without a warrant on his head for something he did not even do.
“Are you going to let me get ready for bed?” he asked. Maybe she would go away.
“Am I stopping you?” she snapped.
Sighing, he just pulled off his shirt. His tone body seemed nothing now compared to the super-human strength. Ashleigh shuffled a bit, but did not say anything. He sat on the bed and looked at her as he took off his shoes and socks.
“Now do you believe me?” he questioned.
“Never doubted you,” she said.
Her eyes shined even in the dim light. Her long black hair seemed unnaturally perfect. No split-ends or any frizzing. Daniel had to remind himself that it was probably natural for a vampire. And…was there a blush on her cheeks? Perhaps that was due to the fact that she had fed recently.
“You know you ruined my life,” said Daniel.
Ashleigh took a step into the room. She shifted uncomfortably. How…human?
“I will never be able to show my face for a very long time,” he continued standing up and facing her. “I’m trapped here. Or doomed to hide forever among convicts.”
Ashleigh through her arms around him and kissed him full on the mouth. It was like he was floating. He began to kiss back. Deeply he fell in euphoria dimly aware of the fact that he was running his hands through her smooth, black hair.
Suddenly he felt the tickle of a fang. He quickly pulled from her. It was like coming off a high. Ashleigh just stared at him, slightly shocked. The buzz was wearing off.
“W-why?” he stumbled.
“I’m sorry,” she said quickly and ran out of his room.
