Sara was halfway through the beachs parking lot when he reached her and pinned her against a nearby SUV.
"What the hell Ty?" She said, wincing as he gripped her arms tightly. "Lemme go!"

"No! What the hells wrong with you! Your always going off and saying your thinking! Sara, I know that you screwing around with some random guys-"

"I am not!"

"- but it isn't going to happen anymore. From now on, where you go, I go too." He finished.

Sara looked up at her boyfriend. He was panting and his eyes were crazy.

"You've lost your mind!" She whispered, desperatley trying to get out of his iron grasp.
"You whore!" He shouted slamming her once again against the car.

"Tyler, you have to believe me, I have never cheated on you!" Sara said calmly. The last thing she wanted to do now was set her unstable boyfriend off.

"Liar." He spat. "What about Mark, eh?"

Sara blushed at the mention of Mark's name. She remembered how close they were to kissing, how she had wished it would have happened...

Tyler noticed the color in her cheeks. He brought his right hand down across her pale cheek.

"That is it! I have had enough of you, Tyler! I hate you!" The girl screamed.

Tyler smirked. "Okay."
She yelped as Tyler thrust her head back against the window of the SUV.

Then it was lights out for Sara.

Mark ran.

He ran as fast as he could, through traffic and Little Leaugue baseball games.
He sprinted up her street, racing to the apartment complex, up the stairs and to the room.
This was it, he thought. Sara loved him. Sara loved him. Sara loved him.
"Sara! I need to talk to you!" He banged his fists on the door.

There was no sound on the other side of the door.

"Sara! Please!"

Silence greeted him. His fists slid down the door, defeated. Mark looked at the door forcefully, as though begging it to open, begging Sara to be there and begging for his happy ending.

His phone vibrated, and in one swift movement, it was at his ear.

"Hello?"

"Mark, its Sara. She's hurt." His sister whispered.

Mark snapped his phone shut and ran a hand through his hand.

Guess he couldn't have his fairytale ending. Oh well. Story of his life.

Tick, tock. Tick, tock.
The waiting room was filled with the tense air as the two people waited nervously.
Brooke fidgeted in her seat, glancing from the wooden door to the clock hanging on the wall, then to the person to her right.

"You could have killed her. You might have killed her." She sneered.

"Oh shut the fuck up Davis. I'm tired of hearing your whiny little voice." Tyler huffed, fiddiling with his cell phone.

"I hate you."

"Good. The feeling is mutual."

"Mark is gonna kill you." Brooke said, shaking her head. "You don't deserve her."

"If I don't have her, no one does!"
"Your mental!" Brooke sat there, staring at him with shocked eyes. "This isn't being masculine or heroic, Tyler. You've gone insane!"

"You don't know anything." Tyler said simply. "I'm crazy about her."

Brooke shrunk in her seat. "Literally."

The door suddenly whipped open. Mark rushed in, his face pale as his body shook with large breathes.

"Is she okay?" He blurted out, taking a step towards his sister, only to step dead in his tracks when he saw Tyler.

Brooke hesitantley answered, staring at the two men. "She suffered a minor concussion, I think. She'll be fine."

"Everything will be back to normal when she gets out. She'll forgive me. And Mark, you'll have to stay the best friend forever, I guess." Tyler smirked.

"If you even think that I will let that happen..." Mark said in a low voice.

Tyler grinned. "Watch. It will."

Just as Brooke thought the boys were going to kill each other, the emergency door opened up.

"Sara!" Brooke yelled, running forward and hugging her best friend. "You okay?"

The small girl grinned, tightly holding onto Brooke. "Yeah. Everything's fine."

Then Sara glanced at Tyler, her smile disappearing quickly as she released Brooke. "Well, not everything."

Tyler rolled his eyes. "Sara, babe, c'mon. It was a little arguement! We love each other, rememeber?"

Sara snorted. "Of course. I might have had a concussion, but I still have my memory. We're over, Ty."

Tyler's eyes turned dark. "You have got to be kidding me! I love you Sara!"

Mark shoved him aside. "Shut up, asshole. She just broke up with you. Leave."

Tyler glanced at Sara. "You'll want me back in a few hours."
"I doubt it, sorry." Sara met his gaze strongly.

"You serious, then? About... us?"

"Yes."

Tyler nodded, then walked out the door.

"What a jerk." Brooke said.

Sara grinned, walking out of the hospital hand in hand with her best friend.

Mark sat out on his roof, staring up at the star-speckled sky.

He was thinking about, well, everything.
He thought about the Red Sox. Could they win this year again?
He thought about Tyler. Would he bother Sara? Would he abuse, maybe even kill, his next girlfriend?
He thought about Brooke. Would she tell Sara he liked her?

But mostly, he thought about Sara.

She hadn't spoken to him at all the last two days. Even when she had gotten the job at New York Times, she hadn't even said one word. She would meet his eyes, and then look away.

Brooke had said to him "give her time." But he didn't have the patience.

To love someone for two years, then to find out her boyfriend abused her, then to find out she liked you back, and that she was in the hospital with a concussion can really make someone realize that at anytime he could lose her. He had let her go all these years, and now, he had to wait.

:
"Mark?"

Now he was imagining her voice. Great.

Sara crawled up on the roof, lying down next to him.

"It's beautiful outside." She said, watching the stars.

Your beautiful, he wanted to sat. But he could only continue to stare at her.

Sara sighed. "I'm sorry I haven't talked to you-"

"It's fine." He said, watching her blush. He knew he had to act now, or they might never get the happy ending they deserve.

He bent his head down, and kissed her softly.

Sara smiled up into his eyes. "I love you, Mark. I've loved you for years."

Mark sighed. "I'm addicted to you, Sara. I need you."

"You have me."

Mark grinned, leaning down once again to kiss her.

The beautiful princess wasn't one to follow orders. She would fight back, and try to intimidate her kidnapper.
When she was locked in the highest tower, a strange man came to the castle.
He saved the princess, and they went back together to her old kingdom, where they lived happily, ever, after..
the end.

i love happy endings, but they're slightly overrated.
