"Oh no, look at what you've done!"
My eyes were wide open, staring at the white substance beneath me. I was paralyzed for .17 minutes before I tried to take a breath. I couldnt, the air had been forcefully stolen from my lungs. The poor things were trying their hardest to expand and get something but they felt glued to my ribs, while something rattled inside of my head. Probably my brains had been dislodged; really it was the only logical answer.
My eyes remained open, my legs remained spread in the grass as were my arms- from my previous bout of falling.
Speaking of that. . .
Why wasnt I falling anymore?
Finally the hand holding my chest loosened and I took a shaky breath, I still couldnt move, but I was breathing, one out of about 20 vital necessities isnt that bad, I'm at 5% baby.
"You said it wasnt going to work!"
"I didnt think it would work!"
"Ofourse, that's because you never think!"
"I do too!"
"Do not!"
"Do too!"
"Stop fighting you two!"
I heard a scuffling sound and then an indignant scream.
"Uri, Celia, stop." The voice sounded controlling over the other two voices.
"He pushed me!"
"Uri apologize."
There was silence.
"Now"
A mumbled few words were said that I couldnt hear through my ragged breathing. What the hell had happened? Had my parachute worked? Ohmygosh! I'm alive!. . . I think.
I experimented moving my arms, drawing them towards me, they obeyed, but not without a protest. I felt bruised all over, as I shoved my self slowly off of the ground, rising to my knees.
A chorus of squeaks erupted from above me. Supposedly my visitors. Three sets of hands pulled me up, two on my arms and one on my shoulders. They helped me to my unsteady feet, I kept my eyes closed feeling as if I was going to be sick. Once I was released I sunk right back down to the earth, landing on my behind and keeping my eyes closed.
"Do you think its okay?"
"I dont know." A voice said worriedly, they all sounded a little fearful.
"Can it talk?"
"You dummy of course it can talk. Dont you ever pay attention in class?"
"I'm not a nerd like you."
"Hey!"
The voices were starting to make my head spin even more, it sounded like a girl and boy had been talking, and before it sounded like another girl had scolded them.
"Is it okay?"
"I dont know, it looks dead."
"It is not dead. . . at least I hope its not. . . go get it some water."
"Tat! You killed it, I told you this was a bad idea, I told you, and I told you, and now look." The girls voice was on the verge of hysterics as it whined so profusely.
"I didnt think it would work okay! I'm sorry!"
I was steady by now, and opened my eyes, staring dazedly at my black boots.
"- and you insisted it was just an experiment and then-"
"Celia! Its awake!"
I raised my head, letting out a groan, my neck felt bruised to the bone. What I saw made my dry eyes broaden, all around me was white, with varying shades of gray and blue swirling around. What felt like grass, looked like grass too, except it was sliver-ish. There wasnt many plants, though to my right were gray and blue trees huddles together.
Darnit, I did die.
I hate Angela. Can you hate in heaven? Am I in heaven? I knew I shouldn't have done all of those things- putting glue on Henry's seat in third grade, cheating on my math final in 10th grade, puking in my mother's vase and blaming the dog, parking in handicap parking that one time, I didnt see the sign!
"Hello?" one of the girl's standing above me asked, coughing slightly in her hand. I stared at her, before turning my gaze to the next one, then to the boy who was running towards us a clear cup in his hand.
They all shared white-blonde hair, so similar that they were probably related, they all head deathly pale skin, it had a blue ting to it, it was so translucent, but that was where the similarities in these three stopped.
The girl closest to me, and the one that had spoken had a thin face, long, but not horse-ish, she had soft, light brown eyes on top of flowing cheek bones. The girl next to her was the shortest of the three, her face was round as were her large bright green eyes. Her hair was long enough to reach the top of her belt, straight like straw. I had never seen someone with longer hair, it was extraordinary. The boy, who had stopped about two yards behind them was the tallest of the three, which wasnt very tall, non of them were as tall as me (and I was only 5'2) his angular jaw was hanging slightly ajar as he blatantly stared.
The girls were trying to hide their gazes as they all fumbled with words to say. I swallowed, grimacing at the stickiness in my throat. Wordlessly the boy stepped forward handing me the glass, I took it not thinking twice about what was inside before gulping it down greedily.
I took a deep breathe, and looked back at them, they hadnt moved, like deer in headlights.
"Where am I?" I croaked, frowning at the gravely sound of my throat, before staring back at them.
They looked sheepish, two of them looked down, while the other (the first girl) smiled apologetically.
"Um, well you're not going to believe us."
I furrowed my brows, resisting the urge to roll my eyes, they sounded like children playing a game. Even though contrary to their height I did not think that they were younger than me.
"Why not?" I asked, holding back the condescending tone I wanted to use.
"Because you just wouldnt." the boy laughed, like I was stupid.
I frowned to him before saying to the girl.
"Try me."
"Um. . . well. . . what you call. . .um. . ."
"A cloud!" the second girl burst out.
Yep, I'm dead.
your voice was the soundtrack of my summer, you'll always be my thunder
