"I know you don't want to hear this but-" I told Alex as we sat in the lunch table.
"Kelsi, you've told me a million times," he cut me off.
"It's because you're my-" he cut me off again.
"Yes, best friend, I know," he sighed and rolled his eyes, "look Kels, I think I can watch out for myself."
"I know you can," I said airily, digging into my plate.
"Then?" he began chewing on his mutated animal in a plate food.
"Well, you and Audrey have been together for four months... we're seniors now, and I just- you don't seem happy with her anymore," I spoke between munches.
He stared at me for a second and chuckled, "you know, I hate to admit it but... I guess you're partly right," he sighed, playing with his food, "I can tell she cares more than I do... "
"Then?" I advised him, like any good friend should, "what are you waiting for? She's a good girl and you'll just hurt her more if you stay with her any longer."
"Yeah but," he shrugged, "I'm comfortable where I am, no drama, no stress, just living."
"Oh please Alex," I rolled my eyes, "that's pathetic; you're going to go on tour during the summer, and you really want to leave a girlfriend back home? Just for the sake of no drama?"
"Well... " at this point, I could tell he was getting convinced.
"Exactly, and how many girls are you going to be able to hook up with this summer?" he lifted his sight from the plate to my own, showing off a naughty smirk, "you're a good looking guy Alex, you know it, and girls like guys in bands."
"That's true," he nodded lightly; "I guess you're right."
"Please Alex, I'm always right," I joked and we laughed.
I have nothing against Audrey, and in no way do I see Alex as more than my best friend; but I rather my best friend be happy than comfortable. I don't want him to be with someone just for comfort, I want him to be with someone because he loves her. Because he's happy. I want the best for him.
you're the type of woman (deserves good things)

"Fuck prom dates!" Alex said as the speakers announced that prom tickets would be on sale soon.
"Tell me about it," I turned to face him and rolled my eyes, "at least theres a bunch of girls that want to go with you."
"Bullshit Kelsi, I see you in the same position as myself," he rolled his eyes at me.
"What are you two fighting about this time," Jack, who sat net to Alex, butted in our conversation.
"She's wants my dick, but I keep on telling her no, she just wont give up!" Alex raised his arms in the air.
"Kelsi, give up, youve been trying to get on his jock for three years now, its never going to happen," Jack turned to me, eyebrows raised, making me laugh.
"But, Jack! Youve experienced the magic of his penis, how can you keep such magic away from me?!" I wined, jokingly.
"Kelsi," Mrs. Grace complained, "class isnt over yet, so please keep your language and snarky comments to yourself; we dont need to know about your indecencies."
"Yes ma'am," I nodded as Alex and Jack laughed at me. I always get in trouble in this class, not Alex or Jack, me.
"Yes Kelsi," Alex got closer to my desk, whispering, "stop flaunting your indecencies," he chuckled lightly.
"Fuck your face," I turned to him and whispered, narrowing my eyes.
"KELSI," Mrs. Grace now approached my desk with a pink slip in her hand, "I warned you," she shook her head as she scribbled on the paper, "I'll see you tomorrow after school," she handed me the slip.
"Thanks," I smiled and nodded as she handed me the paper, jerking it off of her hands.
"I changed my mind," she stole the paper from my hands, "make that the rest of the week," mind you, it's still Tuesday.
I heard Alex and Jack laugh as she walked back to her desk.
"Keep me company?" I turned to ask Alex.
"I dont know," he shrugged, "you are pretty snarky Kelsi, I dont think Im safe with you," he mocked me.
"Oh come on," I was almost pleading.
"Fine, I'll make sure to get in trouble with Mr. White or something," he smirked, making me smile, "under one condition," he cocked a brow.
"Anything," I agreed.
"Be my prom date?" he wasnt hesitant at all; it was nothing but friendly.
"Ew," I made a face and laughed, "fine, better than going alone," I shrugged.
Alex nodded and smiled when Jack butted in again, "whats going on?"
"Alex wants to get in my pants," I shrugged.
"Tell me something I dont know," Jack furrowed his brows.
"Its that, its inevitable," Alex continued as we all laughed.
"Kelsi, would you like that to be two weeks?" Mrs. Grace called from her desk.
"No ma'am," I giggled airily and turned back to facing the board.
baby you're a star, i just want to show you, you are
Prom Night
"Girls and boys, this is your last chance to dance with a loved one," the Principal, Mr. Williams, spoke into the microphone, "this is the last song of the night; My Boo, by Usher and Alicia Keys."
Soon all the couples, and soon to be couples, and ex-couples, approached the dance floor.
Alex grabbed my hand, leading me to the dance floor, "no," I let go of his hand shaking my head, "I dont dance to this shit, you know that," the intro began playing.
Theres always that one person that will always have your heart; you never see it coming cause youre blinded from the start.
"Oh come on," he insisted, "its the last dance; youre my date and I havent had one dance with you tonight. Soon Ill be off to tour, I cant share one last dance with you?"
Know that youre that one for me, its clear for everyone to see, oh baby oh, you will always be my boo.
He begged me with his eyes, I rolled mine, and "fine, but this is borderline ridiculous."
He smiled, grabbed my hand again, and led me to the dance floor. We landed in between couples who were already exchanging saliva and swaying to the rhythm of the song.
Do you remember girl, I was the one who said "put your lips like this"
Cause I remember girl, I was the one who gave you your first kiss,
Even before all the fame and people screaming your name, girl I was there
When you were my baby
"It started when we were younger you were mine, my boo," by now Alex began singing along.
"Youre kidding me right? Youre making me dance to this and youre singing along too? This is torture," I complained as he chuckled.
"Enjoy it," he looked at me and smiled, bringing our swaying bodies closer.
I was in love with you when we were younger, you were mine; my boo.
And I see it from time to time, I still feel like my boo,
And I can see it no matter how I try to hide, my boo,
Even though theres another man whos in my life, you will always be my boo.
I had begun singing along by now, "psst, look who was complaining is now having a good time," Alex smirked at me.
"Its not like I have a choice," I smirked back.
Yes I remember boy, cause after we kissed I could only think about your lips,
Yes I remember boy, the moment I knew you were the one I could spend my life with,
Even before all the fame, and people screaming your name, I was there
and you were my baby.
"Are you going to miss me, when I go on tour?" Alex asked me quietly as my head rested on the crook of his neck.
The question caught me off guard, definitely one I didnt want to answer; Id known him for such a long time, hed become almost a part of me, Ive just never let him know how much his friendship really means to me, "you know," I began, keeping my head rested in his shoulder, making sure he wouldnt be able to look at me in the eye, "you know how this goes, youre my friend, and you know," no words.
"But, are you?" he moved his head back, making sure he could see me.
I stared at his eyes and didnt want to say a word; him leaving was a thought I dreaded. I couldnt answer.
He tightened his lips, and moved our bodies closer, letting my head rest on the crook of his neck again, "Im going to miss you too," he muttered breathing into my hair, causing small discriminating tears to troll slowly down my eyes.
It started when we were younger you were mine, my boo,
Now another brothers taken over but its still in your eyes, my boo,
Even though we used to argue its alright,
I know we havent seen each other in a while.
"But you will always be my boo," Alex began singing again, causing me to giggle lightly at his corniness, "what are you laughing at," he moved his head back to look at my face, wearing a big smile in his face; soon that smile faded when he saw light shades muddled-down make up in my face, "whats wrong?" he furrowed his brows.
My hands fell from the back of his neck quickly, and I ran them under my eyes, "nothing."
He grabbed my hands and stared at my face, "Kelsi, why were you crying?"
"Gosh, I wasnt," I said, walking out of the dance floor, Alex behind me, "it was just one tear or two," I kept on running my hands under my eyes.
"Kels, Kelsi," he said grabbing my hand as we exited the room and entered the lobby, "why were you crying?"
"I said I wasnt crying Alex! I was tearing okay?" I almost shouted in his face.
"Well, then why were you tearing?" he was persistent, holding a worried look in his face.
I paused and stared at the floor, my arms crossed under my chest, tapping one foot on the ground.
"Kels," he spoke in a stern tone.
"Im going to miss you okay?!" I almost shouted again, and began walking away again, tears strolling down my eyes again; only this time they were thicker and faster.
He caught my hand, grabbed my shoulders, and made me face him; then he chuckled, "why are you crying though? You know Ill be back."
I paused and glared at him, "youre a dick! Here I am, crying, telling you Im going to miss you, and youre laughing?! Well, excuse me for being a little bit sentimental but you asked for this!"
He let go of my shoulders and began laughing harder, "are you serious?! Are you going to point and laugh now too?!" I asked angrily, "you have some balls, you know that right. Im going to break your fucking face if you dont stop laughing, you are so rude, you just-"
He grabbed my face, connecting our lips. It happened in a matter of seconds, not letting me breathe, not even letting me finish my sentence.
I pulled away, furrowing my brows, "what?"
He smirked shyly, "you will always be my boo," he half sang, chuckling nervously.
"Alex..." I paused as he leaned over once more. I placed my fingers on his lips, not letting them touch mine, "no."
He took a step back, a look of confusion dawning upon his face, "what? Kelsi, but I-"
"No you dont Alex, youre my best friend," I began moving towards where the sofas were, to sit down.
Alex followed me, "but I do, or are you going to tell me what I feel now?"
I sat down across from where Alex was standing, "best friends dont like each other, theyre just friends Alex; thats all well ever be."
"Oh please, dont give me that bullshit," he began getting angry, "please Kelsi, save me the bullshit; you made me break up with Audrey, why else would you make me break up with Audrey?!" he raised his hands, causing a scene in the lobby of the hotel.
"Because Alex, I care for you, I want the best for you," I stood up, "I just want you to be happy."
"You make me happy!" He ran a hand through his hair in frustration, "you- why else would you come to prom with me? Its a date you know."
"Alex, I didnt come to prom with a date, I came to prom with my best friend."
"Dont give me your best friend bullshit, you always knew I had feelings for you, always. You made me break up with Audrey, just because it didnt satisfy you to see me settled with a girl. Youre always with me. Im always with you. You never have a boyfriend or anything. You were even jealous of Audrey. You come here, you dance this slow song with me, you cry because youre going to miss me for a few months; so please Kelsi," he paused and stared at me, anger and disappointment mixed in his eyes, "cut the crap."
I sat back down, taking a deep sigh, "Alex, I dont like you."
He paused and nodded, "fine," he began walking towards the exit.
"Alex," I stood up and shouted at him, "Alex!" I screamed louder.
"What?" he turned from the exit, facing my way.
"Where are you going? The Limo isnt here yet, and we still have to go to the after party," I excused myself, hoping hed come back.
He chuckled airily, "Ill take a cab home, I hope you get lucky tonight," he turned around and walked back outside.
you should let me love you
Three Weeks After Prom
"Yerp," Jack said, sitting in my couch, digging into his ice cream cone, "John has genital herpes."
"Ew," Elyse said, clinging from his arm, digging into her own ice cream, "thats disgusting."
"Tell me about it, he wanted to show me, but I backed out, I cant," Jack continued.
"I cant believe you guys are leaving today," I sighed, staring out the window.
Both, Jack and Elyse, turned their stares at me, "are you okay?" Jack asked, "because I mean, were here talking about Johns STDs and youre saying youre going to miss me? I thought we had an unspoken agreement in which we avoided the subject until it could no longer be avoided."
"Well, she does have a point, Im going to miss you Jack-a-roo," Elyse grabbed Jacks hand, throwing a sappy smile his way.
"Im going to miss you too Elyse-a-ree," he kissed her hand.
"Get a fucking room," I threw a pillow at them.
"Well, can we use yours?" Jack wiggled his eyebrows as Elyse glared at him.
"You wish," she snapped at him.
He smirked and kissed her nose.
"How are you guys going to deal with this? How are Zack and Emily going to deal with this?" I asked, almost in desperation.
"Its just a couple of months," Elyse said, setting her attention back to the ice cream, "I mean, Im going to miss him like hell, but Ill be waiting, " Jack stared at her smiling, almost as if he was admiring her, "I guess Emily is doing the same," she shrugged.
"Are you going to say bye to Alex?" Jack asked, getting out of his Elyse-trance.
"What? Are you crazy? After prom I think he hates me," I widened my eyes.
"Kelsi, you know that Alex could never hate you," Jack shifted in the sofa, "you just hurt his pride, but he will always like you."
"I doubt it;" I scoffed, "he hooked up with Audrey again, like two days after the prom incident."
"Well, you gave him no fucking option," Jack argued, "anyways, I need to poop, may I use your bathroom?" he asked, standing up.
"Sure, the air freshener is under the sink," I smiled, he smiled back.
"Thanks," he walked to the bathroom.
"So now, Kels, you cant tell me you dont have feelings for Alex," Elyse asked me, as if she was filling out a survey.
"Of course I do, hes my best friend!"
"Get the fuck out, you know what I mean," she rolled her eyes.
"No Elyse, that would totally ruin our friendship," I shifted back in my couch.
"Oh come on Kelsi, if you guys go out, not only would you make the perfect couple, but it would make your bond stronger," she sounded like a spiritualist.
"Elyse-"
"Youve known him since you were a kid, yes I know. Hes your best friend, yes I know. Hes a man whore, yes I know. Hes an idiot, yes I know. But hes madly in love with you. I dont know if youve noticed but youre the only girl that hed give up drinking at a party for, just so he can be your ride home, because youll be too drunk to even walk. Youre the only girl hell sneak out of a house to go party. Youre the only girl hed give up eating lunch for because you forgot your lunch money. Youre the only girl hed lend his car to for a whole week, just because yours broke down. Youre the only girl that sleeps over his house that he doesnt have sex with. Youre the only girl he listens to whenever you give him advice. Youre the only girl he doesnt treat like a toy. Youre the only girl hed get a whole weeks worth of detention, just so you dont have to be alone. Youre the only girl he danced with in prom night; because he didnt dance with anyone else, he sat on that chair, while you danced around with everyone else, until he finally convinced you to dance just one song with him," her face was so close to mine, and she was so feisty, I thought she was going to bite me any second now, "now please Kelsi, tell me once more that youre just his best friend; Id love to hear it."
I stopped, dead on my tracks, and looked outside the window, "fuck."
"Yes, fuck, now I think you and him have some talking to do."
let me be the one to give you everything you want and need
I knocked banged on his door, as hard as I could. Hes be leaving in forty five minutes.
When the door finally opened, my heart skipped a beat.
"Yes Kelsi?" Alexs mom spoke with a thick English accent, standing behind the door. I opened the door wider, sneaking my head into the house.
"Wheres Alex?" I asked as my eyes wandered around the house.
"Oh, he left already," she took a step back, "I believe you just missed him."
"Fuck!" I ran a hand through my hair, frustration filled my mind, "he left for the tour?" my eyes, filled with desperation, met hers.
"Oh no, theyll be leaving in about an hour, hes a Zacks house," she smiled warmly.
"Thank you!" I grabbed her face and kissing her cheek, catching her by surprise, and ran back towards my car.
As I arrived at Zacks house, I saw the white van outside with the black trailer hooked to it. I saw Rian walk outside with a bass drum in hand, shoving it in the black trailer.
"Rian," I said as I stepped out of my car, waving at him.
"Hey Kelsi, didnt think youd stop by!" he walked over to me, giving me a hug.
"Honestly, I didnt think Id stop by either," I chuckled, scratching the back of my head, "so uhm, wheres Alex?" I asked shyly, scared.
"Of course, Alex," a smile grew on his face, "hes upstairs, in Zacks room."
"Thanks!" I nodded and walked inside the house. Excitement and fright filled my stomach with every step I took up the stairs. As I approached the room at the end of the hallway I could hear someone Alex singing and playingRunning From Lions.
I stopped before the door, stretching out my shirt, fixing my hair, and such; when suddenly the music stopped. I paused and sighed, and as I was about to knock on the door, the door opened, revealing Alex in front of me.
"Shit," he said as he turned his back, walking toward Zacks bed, I followed him inside the room.
"Wheres Zack?" I asked cautiously, standing in front of him.
"I think he went to buy groceries, snacks and such, you know, for the tour, we leave today... " he muttered and mumbled, fiddling with his fingers.
"Yeah, I heard," I shifted my weight back and forth, "so uhm, can I sit there," I asked pointing to a space next to him in Zacks bed.
"Yeah, sure, I guess," he moved so Id have more space.
"Thanks," I said as I sat next to him, "so... "
The room was filled with tension and awkward silence, when we both decided it was time to speak, "look-"
"You go first," I insisted.
"No, you go first," he insisted.
"No you go," I nodded towards him.
"Fine," he opened his mouth to speak up.
"No, Ill go," I cut him off before he had the chance to say anything, he chuckled lightly, and I stood up, "look Alex, Im really sorry about what happened on-"
"No, Im sorry," he cut me off, standing up too, "I shouldnt push you into doing shit you dont want to do, and Im sorry about getting mad at you, it was ridiculous, really, I just-"
I grabbed the back of his head, crashing my lips against his, leaving him standing still.
"Be my boyfriend?" I asked him, not taking my hands off of the back of his head.
He smiled and shook his head, "no?!" I let go of him, "are you seriously saying no!?" I stepped back.
"No!" he raised his hands.
"NO?!" I stared at him wide-eyed.
"But you said-"
"Forget what I said," he cut me off, grabbed the back of my head, pressing his lips against mine so hard that we both fell back to Zacks bed, "you have no idea how long Ive been wanting to do this," he smiled into the kiss.
"Get a room!" Jack said from the entrance of Zacks room.
"We are in one!" I grabbed a pillow and threw it at Jack as he closed the door.
Alex wiggled his eyebrows at me, "dont even think about it," I told him, wearing a big smile in my face.
You will always be my boo.
you're true beauty's description, looks so good that it hurts
You're a dime plus ninety-nine and it's a shame
Don't even know what you're worth
Everywhere you go they stop and stare
