What happens next" Kelly sang to her lime-green I-Pod as she jumped up and down on her bed.
"Kelly!" Her mother called up to her, "Nina is here!"
Before, Kelly had a chance to respond, her short Asian best friend had plowed into her giggling.
"Ow..." Kelly hissed, rubbing her sore butt that cushioned her fall.
"Hey buddy!" Nina replied, ignoring Kelly's pain. "Guess whose going to see her boyfriend today..."
Kelly knew the answer, it had been all over the news. The famous band the Jonas Brothers from Wyckoff, New Jersey were going back to their hometown to play a concert.
"I don't know. Could it be yours?" Kelly replied sarcastically, running her right hand through her short blonde hair.
Nina didn't pick up on the sarcasm and continued chatting happily, "Well, since I don't like going places alone..."
Kelly knew where this was going. "No. No. No." She said rolling her hazel eyes.
"Come on! You never know, since Joe is taken, and Nick is a baby--" Nina started.
"He's fifteen." Kelly interrupted.
"Do you want to date a fifteen year old, and your eighteen?" Nina said, smirking.
Kelly glared, "Continue."
"Well, like I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, maybe you can date Kevin! He's like twenty or twenty-one. I forget." Nina said smiling, childishly.
"I'm standing by my original answer: no." Kelly said turning around and heading to her closet, since she was still in her pajamas at three in the afternoon.
"Come on, please?" Nina asked, blocking Kelly's way and pouting, "Please, with a nice ol' cherry on top?"
Nina knew she had Kelly.
"Ugh. Fine." Kelly replied and Nina gave her hug.
"Now...what are you going to wear?" Nina thought, aloud.
"Jeans, a t-shirt and flip flops." Kelly said.
"How about skirt?" Nina suggested. Kelly glared.
"Fine, jeans it is." Nina responded and Kelly quickly got dressed to go the concert.
When Nina and Kelly entered the arena, young teenage girls where screaming with various signs of, I love you NICK! Be Mine! or Your holding all of my heart, Joe!.
It was too loud, Kelly thought, and wished she was back home listening to Switchfoot. She, sneakily, stowed her I-Pod into her purse because she didn't really care for the "Pop Rock" sound of the Jonas Brothers.
Nina led Kelly to the backstage entrance where the JB's bodyguard had led them into the dressing room area.
"Nina!" Kelly heard Joe yell.
"Joe!" Nina called back and they ran towards each other and shared a touching moment, a moment of which Kelly didn't want to be around and hear the annoying "kissy-kissy" noises.
Kelly wandered around backstage, where she saw Nick and Frankie, she didn't stay around to talk but sat down in a seating area to see two lounge chairs, one of which was occupied, by a Jonas.
Kelly quietly sat down and took out her i-Pod, but before she put the earbud into ear she looked over at the Jonas who was engulfed deeply into his own i-Pod.
Kelly watched as he bounced his foot rhythmically to whatever song he was listening to. His eyes were closed, and his lips moved quietly mouthing the words.
He opened his eyes and jumped causing Kelly to quickly dart her eyes and blush.
"How long have you been here?" He asked.
"Not that long actually." Kelly said, her cheeks slowly turning back to their normal color.
"Good, so you missed my air-guitar solo?" He asked, his cheeks flushing.
"Yeah," Kelly replied, smiling.
"What's your name?" He asked.
"Kelly."
"Cool, my name is--"
"I know, it's Kevin." She smiled.
Kevin looked a little freaked out.
"My friend Nina told me about you." Kelly quickly added, "So what are you listening to?"
"Switchfoot, they always calm me down before we perform." He said, smiling slightly.
"Oh my gosh! I love them!" Kelly said, "Favorite song by them has to be Dare You To Move."
Kevin shook his head, "No, its definitely Meant To Live."
"Are you challenging me, Jonas?" Kelly teased.
"You know it." Kevin replied.
"Oh, well in that case: bring. it. on."
Ten minutes had passed and Kelly and Kevin were arguing over which song was better. Kelly brought up the beautiful soft lyrics to Dare You To Move, while Kevin argued back stating that the music in Meant To Live was more important than the lyrics and that its constantly music to his ears.
It was time for a draw.
"Fine, they equally great." Kelly concluded.
"I agree." Kevin said smirking.
"Kevin, Joe, and Nick time to perform!"
"Sounds like you have to go." Kelly found herself pouting as she said this.
"Well, how about after the performance we go to Starbucks and continue conversing about music?" Kevin said, getting up.
"I'd like that." Kelly smiled.
He grinned and went in the direction of the stage to play music.
As the music started, Kelly grabbed her I-Pod and scrolled down and skipped past her favorite song and found herself listening to "Meant To Live", and after much debate she figured that Kevin was right, it was music to her ears.
"We were meant to live for so much more
