Again.
She was here, with him, again.
Lightning painted across the dark sky, signaling the oncoming storm. Tall clouds loomed over the flat fields surrounding the parking lot. The grass swayed, the air twirled, the birds hushed. All was silent, waiting for the storm.
He gazed out of the passenger window, listening to the thunder roll. "A storms coming."
The girl next to him rolled her eyes. "We didn't come here to talk about the weather."
"I know."
"I can't believe this." She spat, too proud to sit in silence.
He looked away, too ashamed to meet her eyes.
"You didn't care. These last two years you didn't care."
He slid down in the stained seat, his head hung low.
"Wanna explain?" She looked at him, every glance shooting that feeling of hurt and venom.
He sighed, and shook his head. He had no reasons for his actions.
"So you just decide to cheat on me?" Her eyes begged for him to say something- anything- so she could forgive him.
"Look, I never..." He drifted off, hoping she would cut him off.
They sat there. In her beaten up grey Toyota.
Thinking, as they heard the far off wails of the tornado siren.
He thought about how he could make her forgive him.
She always found a way to forgive him.
She thought about how she could never forgive him.
Silence was too loud for her. Actions were even louder.
"You know, that was the third time." Her voice was a whisper, barley heard over the approaching thunder.
He glanced at her, slightly afraid at her somber expression. "Yeah, and I am so sorry."
Her face scrunched up. No, he wasn't saying this, not now.
Her shaking hands hands reached down, fastening onto the small gun.
"Rachel, I love you.
No
Her heart broke. The gun shot. The silence rang in her ears.
A tear slid down her cheek. "I never want to see your face again."
The girl dazed across the feild, waiting in nervous anticipation for the storm.
The earth took a deep breath, and for one second, everything was silent. Everything was an eerie silent, like an old black-and-white movie.
But for Rachel, actions always spoke louder than silence.
It's always calm before the storm.
Violence is never the answer, kids.
