So anyway, the final installment of Houston We Got a Problem. And don't worry, there'll be a sequel or an epilogue or something!!22: Promises (Final Chapter!!!)
No matter how angry Nick was, goodbye was goodbye and Danielynn Turner was his girlfriend. The ride in the tourbus to her house was an especially quiet one. She remained in his arms, crying and trying to snuggle deeper into his chest. Kevin took Joe and Frankie out to the back room. These two needed to be alone. Nick ran his fingers over her cheeks and wished that she didn't have to stay, that she could go with him and his brothers touring. He looked down at her. Her eyes were full of fear and helplessness.
'I'm so sorry, Nick,' she murmured, digging her face into his shoulder and muffling the words. 'I didn't mean to hurt you like that. I didn't know what I was doing. I'm sorry. I love you so much.'
'Shhhhhh, it's alright, Danie. I know it's not your fault,' he said, rubbing her back gently. 'I know you didn't know what you were doing. I know, sweetheart, it's okay. It'll be alright, it's okay. I love you, too.' He wasn't convincing anyone: it wasn't alright. It wasn't okay. But he had to keep telling himself that, in hopes that someday he might get the illusion that it was true. 'It doesn't matter what happened back then, Danielynn, don't you get it? It's about right now. Baby, where are you right now?'
'I'm with you, Nick,' she replied.
'And that's the only place you need to be.' He looked out the window. |i|Just like a movie.|i| It was raining outside and the sky was cloudy and grey. He looked down into her face again. She was smiling quietly through it all, like his own personal little ray of sunshine. 'I'm not leaving you, Danie, in total honesty, I'm not. It may seem like I'm going away, but that's hardly the same as leaving you. I'll always be here for you. You can call me anytime, send me fanmail.' This brought a grin to her face. They both smiled. 'I love you.'
'I love you more.' He snorted and squeezed her tighter.
'I doubt it. I doubt anyone could love me as much as I love you, no matter how many audiences we play in front of, all their fan 'love' is nothing to how much you mean to me. You're the sweetest person I've ever been with and as soon as summer begins, I'll ask your mom if you can come with us on the Burning Up tour. I wrote that song for you, you know.'
'Oh, really?' she challenged, cuddling into him.
'Really,' he said, nodding. 'I write a lot of songs for you, Dan.'
'Such as?'
'Burning Up, Inseparable, Hello Beautiful, Please Be Mine, and when you were gone, I wrote Personal.' She raised her eyebrows. Personal? A new song? He read the look on her face and picked up his guitar. 'So when you disappeared twice, this is what came out of it. Just, indulge me, okay?' She nodded and sat quietly across from him with his guitar. 'Alright, it's a little bit rough, but it's all I've got. Here we go.' He tuned it ever so slightly and began to strum a sad melody.
Personal
She's there for me when I need her
She's everything I could ever want, I could ever need
She's all I see when I fall asleep
And all I understand
I look in the mirror at this empty room
She's beautiful and she makes me blue
'Cause all I can't have
All I can't be
Is you.
Yeah, baby, you.
It's getting harder for me to breathe
The world's spinning around me
The sky is turning black
It's getting personal, personal
My baby's running away and it's
Personal, personal
All I feel is some more pain.
Personal....
Look at me
Dying on the inside
What you're doing to me
Getting you is too much to try
All I understand
When you're with me
Is how much I can believe
How much I can believe
It's getting harder for me to breathe
The world's spinning around me
The sky is turning black
It's getting personal, personal
My baby's running away and it's
Personal, personal
All I feel is some more pain.
Personal....
Let it out
Let it go
Life is playing in slow-mo
Running free
What we should be
Watch the way
The palm trees sway
Feel the wind
Under your skin
Let it rain
It's getting harder for me to breathe
The world's spinning around me
The sky is turning black
It's getting personal, personal
My baby's running away and it's
Personal, personal
All I feel is some more pain.
Personal....
When he finished, Danielynn wanted to sob all over him. They embraced, but when she looked out the window, her heart plummeted. The tourbus was parked outside a small yellow house with a white picket fence. The daisies on the front lawn looked sad and damp and trampled. The whole day, the whole vibe radiating from this house was droopy and pathetic. Nick's smile sagged. He pulled her closer to him and whispered into her hair about how much he didn't want her to go, and she replied that she didn't want to go, either. Danielynn looked up at him, her eyes flooded. They wiped each other's tears away. Kevin, Joe, Frankie, Denise, and Kevin I all came out to say goodbye. The Jonas parents hugged her tight and told her to always be a good girl. And to brush her teeth twice a day.
'I'm gonna miss you, Lil D,' Kevin said, kissing her cheek.
'Call us everyday,' Joe added, squeezing her arm.
'DANIELYNN, I DON'T WANT YOU TO GO!' Frankie cried, wrapped around her leg. Kevin separated his youngest brother from her.
'What more can I say than I love you?' Nick said, pressing his lips against her forehead.
'What more can I say than I love you, too?' Danie replied, snuggling into his chest. He released her. 'Keep in touch, luv.'
'I will. I promise.' Danie knew he was going to keep it. She knew he was. But for now, she was done with promises.
