Back on the Rocks: Idiot!(Hiei)
To be honest this chapter is just filler, but the next chapter will be much better. I promise!Baka! Hiei thought furiously. Idiot! Idiot, idiot, idiot! How could I have agreed to let that foolish girl travel with me? She's so slow! It'd take me twice as long to get anywhere with her around!
Hiei moved furiously through the crowded town. His expression made demons quickly move out of the way.
"I can cook and sew" As if that'd do anything for me! I should just leave her here, but that fool would just follow me and get herself killed... Why should I care?
But he did, Mitsuko wasn't just a pretty face or another companion that would just leave him. Hiei told himself he didn't care about her, however, that was what was making him so angry... he did care for her. Not a lot, but enough to make him worry.

You slowly unfolded the piece of paper had given to you. You had expected to see things like, human blood written on it. Instead it seemed to have normal things on it, things a common traveler would like to have with him.
Bandages, Medicine, thread, and needles.
You walked down the busy streets. In a city like this you had assumed that only demons like you didn't want to stay out passed dark, but everyone seemed to be rushed and frantic to get their things and go home.
Tucked safely in the folds of the paper Hiei had thrown to you had been a single gold coin. Despite the amount of things he wanted you to get, a gold coin was plenty.
***
You looked lazily at the burning candle. It was nearing midnight and there was no sign of Hiei anywhere. You shook your head, it was foolish to think he would be back tonight, if at all...
You yawned softly and rubbed your eyes. It was late. You stood up and walked towards the bed. All of Hiei's things were safely stacked in one pile, you even bought yourself a new Kimono with your own money. You didn't mind the clothes Hiei had "found" for you, but you just couldn't seem to get the smell of blood off of them and black really wasn't your color.
You smiled happily as you eased yourself into the bed, you wounds were almost fully healed and this was the first night that you could sleep on you back without pain. You blew out the flickering candle and slowly fell asleep.
***
Sometime before the sun was up Hiei slowly slide open the door. All had gone well, the guards had put up little resistance and he had left the building with little more that a paper cut scratch on his cheek, it would be gone before morning.
He was walking across the bedroom, to the sink. He glanced at Mitsuko, her slender form had not stirred.
Foolish girl... he thought. What if I had come to harm you? You would be dead.
Not that he cared. Hiei told himself again. He washed the dirt off his face and went to sit by the window, a few hours of silence would be nice.
"Welcome back, Hiei," he heard Mitsuko say from behind him. Her words were slow and slurred, she was half asleep.
Hiei turned to face her, but Mitsuko had fallen asleep before she could see the look of shock on Hiei's face... He had never been welcomed before.
***
"Mitsuko?" you heard Hiei's voice. "Mitsuko!"
You groggily woke up. "Huh?" you asked looking around, Hiei was right beside you.
"Let's go," he said calmly.
You got up and rushed to the bathroom, you quickly got into your new kimono and went out to meet Hiei in front of the inn.
"Is something the matter?" you asked. You were certain that Hiei hadn't been partying last night and in the Makia there's little else you can do at night, either than steal or murder.
"No," he said, and something in you knew that he wasn't lying.
You followed Hiei to the outskirts of the city. The sun had just risen and you were still getting used to waking up early.
"Get on my back," Hiei said abruptly.
"Excuse me?" you asked innocently.
He sighed. "If you insist on traveling with me then I want to move at my own speed."
You nodded. You wrapped your arms around his neck and he lifted you onto his back. In an instant he was running through the forest, trees flew by in a blur and not once did Hiei hit one.
"Hiei, you're amazing!" you exclaimed.
He didn't respond, but you hadn't expected him to.
"I don't weigh too much, do I?" you asked.
This made him laugh. "I believe my katana weighs more than you."
You blushed, then giggled to try to hide it, you didn't know if Hiei could see you or not.
You stopped talking for awhile, you watched streams, and some cliffs go by in an instant. Eventually Hiei slowed and stopped for the night.
"That should be good for now," he said, while putting you down.
You stretched your legs and arms.
"There's a stream near by," Hiei said, pointing to your left. "You can bathe or drink if you'd like, don't worry I'll stay close."
You smiled and nodded, but by now you trusted Hiei. You bathed and took off your bandages, thanks to your demon blood you were completely healed.
When you walked back to the camp you saw that there was a fire going and a few blankets laid out for you. Hiei was sitting against a tree, his katana in one hand. He briefly glanced at you as you came back, you smiled at him in thanks, he hadn't given you blankets before.
You sat down near the fire and wrapped a blanket around you. A silly thing to do in the summer, but it made you feel safe. You stared at the fire for a long time, mesmerized by the flickering flames.
You looked up at Hiei to say something, your mouth open. You stopped immediately, he was asleep. You'd never seen Hiei asleep, you had began to think that he just didn't sleep.
You walked over to him, careful not to disturb him. You sat next to him, sleep had given Hiei an innocence that he did not posses in conciseness. Timidly you reached out and caress his cheek lovingly, his skin was surprisingly smooth for someone who was so accustomed to living on his own. You continued to watch him with an indescribably longing in your eyes.
You moved your hand to touch the white bandana around his forehead. The tips of your fingers touched it delicately.
"What are you doing?" Hiei asked.
You gasped in terror and retched your hand away form him. You fell backwards, fear in your eyes.
"I'm-"
Hiei looked at you for a brief moment and before you could say your next word, he was gone.
