Thump.

Kailie was awakened by footsteps.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

"Mummy... Daddy..." she sat up and tried to shake awake her parents, who were sleeping by her side.

"What is it, Kailie?" her mother, Caitlin, answers sleepily. But suddenly she tensed up when she heard the footsteps.

Thump

Thump

Thump...

Kailie heard the stairs creak along with the foot steps.

"Alec! Alec, wake up!" Caitlin shakes Kailie's father." Wake up, Alec!"

"Hmm..? What is it, hun...?" He slowly puts his glasses on.

"Listen!" Caitlin whispers loudly. Kailie's father tensed up. He reached for a stick that she has never seen him have it before. Must be a wand...

"Mummy..." Kailie snuggled into her mother's arms.

"It's ok, Kailie, don't be scared. No matter what happens, no matter where you are, we're with you. Keep fighting, Kailie, don't be scared." she wrap one of her arms around her daughter protectively.

Some sort of light shot out from Alec's stick, and the walls suddenly became see through. But it was too late--three dark figures with tall, pointy hats barged into their bedroom. Kailie gasped and gripped onto her mother.

"Alec...." Caitlin spoke.

"I know..." Alec replied, and both parents were out of the bed, leaving Kailie with nothing to hold on to. She looked from her father to her mother, confused and scared.

"Lady Amatrix, we have come!" one of the figure said with a stern voice hinted with pride as he took few steps toward Caitlin.

The other two followed, wands raised.

"Kailie, hide!" her father demanded, eyes glued to the figures.

"Alec Cantrelle, hand over the Lady..."

"No," Alec, now shielding his wife and daugher behind, cut him off. "Not unless over my dead body."

The leading figure chuckled. "Pity," he said, as he pointed his wand at Alec. Kailie saw everying from between her mother's arms that wrapped so tightly around her, eyes wide, mesmerized with fear.

No, Daddy, run!

"Crucio!" a beam of eerie light shot at Alec as the Figure gave a cry, cold and hysterical. As if acting on reflex, Alec countered the cry with "Eleisona" as the light suddenly bounced off an invisible sphere surrounding Alec. "Caitlin, send Kailie somewhere safe. Quick!" Alec added, sensing his wife's hesitation on leaving him to fight alone.

Caitlin took Kailie in her arms, and rushed for the high, arched windows.

"Not so fast," another voice echoed in the room, hoarse but feminine. With a flick of wand, Caitlin let out a cry as a stream of silver light enclosed on her tightly, her arms bound to her waist. She dropped Kailie, and her knees gave in as she fell to the floor.

"Mommy..." Kailie stared in horror, one hand on the wall behind her and another covered her mouth. The feminine figure slowly approached Caitlin. Caitlin, despite the pain, tried to open her eyes and smiled at Kailie.

"Kailie, we love you! Forever and always... and we'll always be with you!"

"Had enough chit-chat, Princess?" The figure bend down beside Caitlin, as she lifted Caitlin's head by her chin. Caitlin held back a cry of pain as the silver light dug deeper, and tighter.

"CAITLIN!" Alec lunged for the figure beside Caitlin, but was stopped by the other two. "Don't you dare touch my wife!"

"Ooh, I'm sorry" the figure mocked. "But, you see, the Dark Lord has some... shall we say 'business' with the Lady, and you are in the way!" She practically screamed the last words as she fired a green beam of light directly at Alec's heart.

Alec became still.

"This one next, huh?" the figure laughed as she pointed her wand at Kailie.

"No... No, you can't!" Caitlin pleaded, her face soaked in tears. "No... not Kailie, please..."

"Oh? Miss, I think you're carrying a terrible misconception. I'm quite able to," The figure began chanting something, but before she could finish, a faint whisper came from Alec's direction and suddenly Kailie disappeared into a blue flash of light.

"C-come back... when all is... s-safe..."

"YOU WORTHLESS BASTARD," The figure violently shot up. "I thought I killed you! Avada Kedavra... Avada Kedavra! AVADA KEDAVRA!" she continued to yell until finally, Alec lay limp against the granite floor. Caitlin screamed, choking on her own tears.

"SHUT UP! SILENCIO!" the figure yelled, as Caitlin sobbed, although without sound. "IT'S SUCH A PITY TO TEAR APART A COUPLE!" she shrieked, and raised her wand. "AVADA KEDA--"

"Beatrix, that's enough!" the leading figure caught her wrist before she could finish the curse. He motioned the third figure to take the woman away, now lying unconcious on the floor.

Kailie, teleported to a hidden room, observed everything from the crack in the trap door.

Kailie gasped and sat up, panting. She covered her mouth with her hand, and tears streamed down her cheeks.

It's that dream again...

It's been ten years, and she still has that dream. She hugged her pillow and looked at the sky from the large windows in the shape of a Gothic arch. She was in the exact same house, same room and same bed from ten years ago, when she lost her parents.

Kailie looked at her parents' picture on the night stand. We were so happy until those strange men ruined it...

Thump.

Thump.

Thump

Kailie quickly turned her attention towards the bedroom door, where the hateful people came in and ruined everything ten years ago.

Thump

Thump

Thump

Oh no! It's happening again! Please tell me this is just another stupid dream!

Kailie quickly opened a drawer of her night stand, and flipped through the things in search of a weapon. She paused when her hand touched a bronze dagger. The handle was of complicated twines of metal, and there where many small gemstones engraved on the part where it connects to the blade. A large oval ruby sat in the middle of the handle. The case of the dagger was also bronze, with many detailed incised pictures and words.

Kailie quickly jumped to her feet as she realized that the footsteps where getting closer. She pulled the case off, revealing a silver blade, and held it in front of her at chest level.

What ever that was going to happen next, she was ready for it.
