Conner called me on Sunday and told me to meet him in front of Tim Horton’s at 1. So, after early morning cartoon’s, I made my way upstairs to my bedroom to get changed. I pulled on a good charlotte tee, and a pair of baggy jeans. I tied my hair half up and half down in a kind of childish way before skipping downstairs and out the door. I couldn’t wait to see Conner again.

5 minutes later, I walked through the doors of Tim Horton’s, looking around. I scanned the restaurant, unable to spot Conner’s orange and black hair. Disappointed, I ordered a mocha cappuccino and sat down. I kept a look out around the place as I sipped my hot beverage.

After while, I got up and threw my paper cup out before heading outside and flopping onto the curb. “Logan?” I turned around. Behind me, stood a guy I couldn’t recognize. He was wearing big dark sunglasses and his face was curtained with long black hair that almost reached his shoulders. His face was covered with a bit of stubble. He was wearing a DCMA shirt and black jeans. Over his t-shirt, he wore a black leather jacket.

“Uhhm… Do I know you?” I asked confused. The guy smiled.

“I kinda think you do.” He took of his shades and brushed his long black hair out of his face. My jaw dropped as I recognized the strangers navy blue eyes and heart melting smile.

“Conner?!” I jumped up, throwing myself onto him. Conner chuckled as he wrapped his arms me. “Oh my gosh!! I missed you so much!!” I let him go and looked him up and down again. “Wha..?” Conner laughed.

Conner’s orange streaks and grown out so his hair was jet black. Glancing at him, you wouldn’t know it was Conner. Conner wrapped an arm around my waist and we walked to the park.

We sat down on a bench and Conner filled me in on what had gone on during his time on tour. I was so absorbed in what he was telling me that I didn’t expect what he said next.

“I’m quitting the band.” I sat up and looked at Conner.

“Why?” I asked. Conner didn’t answer for a moment. He looked at me and sighed.

“My Dad thinks I should think about my future. I was planning on going to law school but… touring really opened my eyes. I mean there’s a whole world out there besides school and diplomas and…” Conner trailed off.

“What about Garth?” I asked. “Doesn’t your Dad want him to do something with his future?” Conner shook his head.

“My Dad and Garth don’t really get along. He kicked him out when I was 16. He could care less about what Garth is doing with his life.” We sat silently before we heard voices. We both turned to see a couple of jocks throwing a football around. “Hey, isn’t that Seth?” Conner asked.

I looked closer and let go of Conner’s hand. Sure enough, Seth was over there, with his friends. I sat up straighter as he noticed me. He smiled and waved. I gave him a small wave back and he walked over. He noticed Conner sitting next to me and raised his eyebrows. “Hey Logan. Who’s your friend?” I gave Conner a sideways glance before looking back at Seth.

“It’s Conner. The tour ended early.” I said. Seth’s eyes widened a bit.

“Welcome back, man,” Seth said with a dose of fake jubilance. Conner smiled.

“Thanks.” I looked down at my lap, swinging my legs back and forth.

“Um… Logan. Do you mind coming with me?” Seth asked. I looked up and gave him a questioning look.

“….Why?” Seth’s lips tightened.

“Because. I. Said. So.” I looked at Conner then stood up.

“Whatever. Bye Conner.” I bent over and gave him a tight hug. “I guess I’ll talk to you later?” Conner nodded and I smiled before Seth grabbed my arm and pulled me along with him. I winced and looked back at Conner. He stood up and looked over at us with a worried expression. I looked back at Seth and tried to yank my arm free.

“Seth, let me go!” I yelled. He didn’t answer. He shoved me into his white truck and closed the door. I sat there, heart pounding in my chest before he came in the driver side. He didn’t talk as he started the car.

“Stop talking to that guy,” Seth said after while.

That guy? That guy has a name. And you have no right telling me who I can and can’t talk to,” I said glaring at Seth. He stopped the car and turned to me, his jaw clenched tightly.

“Don’t you EVER talk to me like that!” He brought his hand to my face and slapped me. I opened the car door with some difficulty and jumped out. I had to get away from him before he hurt me badly. “Get back here, you whore!” Seth yelled madly. I walked quicker as I felt an arm grab me and pull me onto the ground. Seth started to hit me repeatedly as I tried to hit him back.

“Get off of me you crazy ass!!” I yelled kicking and smacking him as hard as I could. I kicked him off of me as I realized I had tears pouring, down my face. I stood up, kicking him extremely hard before running for my life. I looked back. He wasn’t behind me. Slowing to a walk, I bent over, panting hard. I straightened my back as I wiped my eyes and looked around, not recognizing anything around me. I reached for my cell phone in my pocket as I kept walking. Pulling out a couple of quarters and some lint, I realized that I had forgotten my cell phone in Seth’s truck. I sighed, looking around for a Phone booth.

I spotted one across the street and looked both ways before jogging across. I stepped inside and cringed. It smelled like wet socks and dog piss. I tried not to breath much as I called Austin’s cell. I waited, praying he’d pick up. I looked around my surroundings, noticing a number of old buildings. Downtown Toronto. No doubt.

“Hello? Austin’s cell phone, Cory speaking.” I cracked a smile.

“Cory. Can you or Austin come pick me up?” I asked my voice cracking, portraying how hurt I felt.

“Why? What’s wrong?! Are you hurt? Are you okay-”

“I’m fine Cory. I just need a ride.” I said calming him down.

“Oh okay. Where you at?” I looked around and told him the intersection before hanging up and going into a McDonald’s. I went straight into the washrooms and looked at myself in the mirror. My makeup was smudged so I washed it all off and dried my face before letting my hair down and combing through it with my fingers. I noticed a greenish blue bruise on the side of my face and a cut right over my eyebrow. My right arm was in pain from shielding my face from Seth. My knees were bleeding and my jeans torn from being pushed onto the hard asphalt. I went back outside and sat down on the curb, waiting for Cory.

10 minutes later, Cory’s old beat up Volvo stopped right in front of me. I stood up and I got in the passenger side, hugging Cory hard.

“Thanks for picking me up Cory. I appreciate it a lot.” Cory nodded as he drove off. He stopped at a traffic light, looking over at me.

“What happened to you? You look like you just got beat up by an angry hobo.” I rolled my eyes.

“I’m not in the mood for your stupid jokes Cory.” The light turned green and Cory stepped on the gas pedal.

“Sorry Logan. But seriously, what happened?” He asked. I looked out the window as Cory turned to look at me.

“I had a fight with… Seth…” Cory slammed on the brakes. I snapped my head in his direction.

“CORY!! You could have killed us!!” I yelled looking behind us. A yellow cab drove around us, the driver giving Cory the finger.

“He hit you?!?” I looked at Cory and nodded slowly. Cory clenched the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles turning white. “I’m. Going. To. Kill. That. Bastard. Wait ‘till I tell Austin. Better yet, wait until I tell Tyson. He’ll probably run him over, multiple times. I'll even lend him my car.” Cory pressed the gas pedal again.

“Cory, chill. I’m fine.” Cory looked at my face then to my bloody knees.

“You’re not fine Logan. I can’t believe he ever touched you like that. If I see him walking down the sidewalk right now, I’d run him over.”

“I won’t be seeing him again Cory. Relax” Cory shook his head as he finally parked.

“When I see him tomorrow at school, he’s a dead man. He better not show up if he values his life.” I smiled, giving Cory a hug.

“Be good. I don’t want to get a phone call from you after you land yourself in jail. Trust me, being arrested is no fun.” Cory smiled. I got out of the car as Cory watched me go inside. I went up to my room to change out of my clothes. As I was changing into some sweats, my mom knocked on my door telling me the phone was for me. I pulled on a shirt and took the phone from her.

“Hello?”

“Hey Logan, It’s me Conner. I was wondering if you were okay. Seth seemed really angry. I’m hoping I didn’t do anything.”

“Nah you didn’t. Seth’s an ego crazy lunatic. We broke up.”

“Oh. I’m sorry.” I smiled.

“Don’t be."

“Oh, yeah. Before I forget, I just wanted to ask you how group was coming along?” Oh darn.

“Good….” I said slowly.

“Logan, have you been going while I’ve been gone?” I was silent for a moment.

“No….” Conner groaned.

Logan! Why not? No wonder you looked so sick when I saw you earlier!”

“Conner I’m fine. I don’t need group anymore. I was just tired today. Speaking of being tired, I’m going to go to bed now.”

“Logan, It’s 5. Anyway, You’ve only been to group like twice or something. Are you still purging?”

“I just don’t like group. Bye Conner.” I hung up and flopped onto my bed, begging for sleep to take me into unconsciousness. Instead, I starred at the ceiling for hours, stomach growling, before finally falling asleep.

I tried not to end it on a cliff hanger so the wait isn't so horrible. I can't wait for Twilight the movie. The book was awsome =]
