[THREE] I, My, Me! [Katekyo Hitman Reborn!]

Hee! It's the third installation of my KHR story! Finally, Ruru meets Tsuna! Hey, I wonder if anyone out there would be interested in making a banner for this story? I'd really like that! And my message box has been looking a bit lonely lately, so messages would be nice too. I like knowing whether people out there actually like what I write, otherwise I get discouraged and trash it, you know? I mean, I know it sucks, but some others have to like it right? Anyways, on with the story!

I, My, Me!

Three: Introduction to the Tenth Boss

Tsuna had become used to strange situations since Reborn came along, really he had, but the one presented before him was truly one he hadn’t been prepared for.

And in all honesty, he wasn’t even sure if he was awake or not.

But the main point was, why was there a strange girl with glowing eyes standing in the middle of his room, holding a butcher knife over his head?!

“GUAAHH!”

“KYAAA!” The moment he’d screamed, the girl did the same. Not only that, she dropped the knife and ran out of his room as if her life depended on it. Thankfully, though, the blade had only impaled his pillow and not his face when it fell.

“Good, you’re awake.” Came a tiny, familiar voice that Tsuna barely paid attention to as he tried to keep from hyperventilating, glancing frantically from the knife to the door.

“Re-Re-REBORN! D-did you see that?! That girl just n-now?!” He panicked, grabbing both sides of his head.

The infant hitman regarded his panicking student before delivering a kick to his head. “That’s no way for a future Boss to behave, dame-Tsuna. You’ll have to face several assassination attempts in the future, you know.”

Tsuna grabbed his forehead in pain. “B-but--! ASSASSINATION?!”

Reborn smirked his baby smirk.

---

“Wh-WHAT?! You again?” Tsuna cried as he reached the kitchen that morning to be greeted by the scary face he’d seen that morning. She was a short girl with curly blue pigtails and dark eyes, looked no older than he did, and worst of all, she looked completely innocent! Like she hadn’t threatened him with culinary tools! And why was she eating breakfast in his house?

Sawada Nana set down a plate for her son and smiled cheerfully. “Tsu-kun, I didn’t know you had such an adorable little friend!”

“Bu--I--wha?” The future boss stammered, still frozen in the kitchen’s doorway and pointing at the girl in shock.

“Better hurry up and eat or you’ll be late for school! I have some shopping to do, so I’m going to leave now.” His mom turned to the girl before leaving. “It was nice meeting you, Ruru-chan. And thank you for helping me with breakfast!”

“H-hai, it was no problem Nana-san!” The girl replied, sounding much younger than she looked. Was she even his age? After waving to the Sawada mother, Ruruhi turned to the Vongola-to-be with a small smile. It didn’t even seem to occur to her that a few days before she’d been spying on him from a rooftop with a sniper rifle. But knowing her, she probably couldn’t even recognize herself if she went without a mirror for longer than two days.

Yii!” Tsuna was about to turn tail and run back upstairs, but before he could make a move, Reborn sailed through the air and kicked the back of his head, sending him face-first onto the kitchen floor.

Ruruhi was oblivious to this scene as she spoke, somewhat timidly. “…I didn’t mean to scare you this morning, I just wanted to ask you what you wanted for breakfast, future boss.” It seemed she was slightly shaken up from being screamed at so suddenly, as well.

Boss? Oh, so it was another one. Tsuna raised his head to regard the tutor standing on the table and…eating his breakfast. He let his head drop back onto the floor in despair. After a minute or so, he raised himself from the floor and looked at the girl. “A-ah, excuse me, but who are you?”

Ruruhi looked off to both sides, and then behind her, before looking at the brunette. “...?”

Tsuna was shocked when his home tutor tossed a violin case at the oblivious-looking girl, which nailed her in the head and sent her toppling over onto the floor. “Ee-eh?! Reborn! What did you do?”

Reborn smirked cutely up at his student. “What? Her mother said that it was necessary to be violent with her. Her name is Furude Ruruhi; I asked her to come from Tokyo to be your body guard.”

Tsuna seemed to pale. “B-body-guard?!” It was bad enough having Gokudera fighting everyone off to remain as his right-hand man, but was a body guard really necessary?

Somehow, the blue-haired girl had managed to slither across the floor and pick up the pan that was on the stove before she walked over to Tsuna’s plate and piled more food onto it. “Eat up! It’s filled with appreciation!” She chirped with a grin.

Tsuna looked down at the food that Reborn hadn’t stolen yet, with slightly sparkling eyes. It had been so long since his entrĂ©e hadn’t been taken by his tutor! “R…really? For me? Thank you!” Without waiting, he sat down at the table to try the omelet the newcomer fixed. It was almost as good as his mother’s cooking! “This is great, Furude-san! What’s in it?”

Ruruhi looked over her shoulder and picked up a green box that had a strange symbol on the front, which happened to be a dead rat with a large red ‘X’ over it. “I’m not exactly sure what it is because I can’t read all that well, but I figured it was for humans because it has a crossed-out animal on the front! And it smelled good…” She explained with a smile.

The future boss’ face turned blue as soon as he spotted the box. Her ‘appreciation’ was going to kill him!

Oh Kami-sama. Was it really a good idea to have her as his new bodyguard!?

---

“S-so…Reborn, what does Furude-san do? Like, what kind of weapon does she use? Is she a hitman like you?” Tsuna asked quietly as he walked to school, with the blue-haired girl in the lead. He failed to notice earlier that she dawned the Namimori girls’ uniform, though wore a long-sleeved shirt and dark leggings with it despite the fact the season was inappropriate for such garments.

He kept a distance of at least three meters between them, because she was precariously swinging her violin case as she walked, and he’d been the unwitting victim of its wrath as soon as he’d left his house. It was the one time he wouldn’t mind seeing either one of his friends on the way to school…even Sasagawa Ryohei would be sufficient! But on the other hand, he hoped he wouldn’t run into Ryohei’s younger sister in this current situation…And really, he could only imagine how Gokudera would react when he learned that Tsuna had a bodyguard.

Reborn, who was walking on a fence beside Tsuna, replied easily. “From what I know, Ruruhi does more body guard work than anything, though she’s known to take on odd jobs. In fact, she’s a candidate for being the Tenth Vongola boss as well, since she’s distantly related to the Ninth by blood, but everyone unanimously decided to keep that from her unless it’s the last possible resort.
That means you better not tell her, either, or there will be consequences for you that even I can’t stop, Tsuna.” He explained ominously. Beside him, Tsuna’s expression was a mix between shock and fear. It looked like his chances of pushing the mafia inheritance onto Ruruhi were nil.

“I-is that so…” Tsuna flinched as her violin case made contact with a poor unfortunate student’s back, sending him sprawling onto the concrete. Now he was afraid of the girl for two different reasons.

He noticed that there was a ragged-looking teddy bear clutched in her other hand…and that it was also potentially fatal, since it knocked out a passing citizen. How could she do all of that without realizing it?! Or getting arrested? He didn’t even want to think of what the Disciplinary Committee Head Prefect would do to her when she caused chaos in his school…

Reborn decided to speak again as the school came into view, ignoring the various unconscious people scattered across the ground like a trail of breadcrumbs behind the girl. “It might not seem like it, but she really is a vital addition to your family.”

Tsuna side-stepped one of the girl’s ‘victims’, looking mortified.

If things kept going this way, she might just be the end of his family!
