I stayed in my room for most of the night. I sat at my desk with my feet up on it while sitting on the chair but the two front legs on it were up in the air and I was only being supported by the back two legs. Then I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in." I called, looking at the door to see who it was.
Ian.
"Hey." he said.
"Hey." I said back.
"I um... I talked to Avery." he said, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
"Oh yeah? And how'd that go?" I asked.
"Well she pretty much hates me now." he replied.
"Why?" I asked, still trying to get a full answer of what happened.
"Because I told her I don't think we should go out anymore. But she did make out with someone at that party." he replied.
"Who?"
"Some guy named Marcus Colvent or something." he replied.
"What!?" I yelled, turning to face him more but I lost my balance on the chair and fell off of it and screamed.
"Are you alright?" Ian asked, rushing to my side and helping me up.
"I'm good." I said once I was standing again. "Did you say Marcus Colvent?"
"Yeah." Ian replied.
"What the hell? Avery hates that guy." I said, trying to think of reasons why she would make out with that guy. Ian shrugged.
"Well she won't talk to me anymore. As if I'm the one that did something wrong." he said, sighing and sitting down on my bed. Good thing it wasn't a pink room or I'd probably die of embarassment or something. I sat down next to him and leaned against the wall with my legs up and my arms wrapped around them, pulling them closer to me.
"But you didn't." I said.
"I know." he agreed.
I stayed silent for a while and so did he.
"Do you still like her?" I asked after a long period of time. Ian looked up at me and shook his head.
"I never really did anyway." he said. "I liked you."
I froze when he said this.
"What?" I asked. "But you seemed really pissed off the other night when you found out how I felt."
"Because I kind of was. I mean, I was going out with your best friend and I thought you were fine with it so I tried as well but it didn't work that well." he explained. I smiled.
"Same for me." I said. "I've been trying for the past week but I couldn't take it anymore. Especially when I thought I saw you making out with Avery, which made me want to blow my top off."
Ian raised his eyebrows at me and looked at my chest before looking back at my eyes.
"Not this top." I said, motioning to my shirt. I pointed to the top of my head. "This top."
"Oh." Ian said simply, laughing a bit. I laughed too.
"But it did make me mad when I found out you said yes to her." I said.
"Because you love me." he said, smiling and poking me in the ribs.
"So what? You just said you like me too." I said, poking him back. He grabbed my hand before it returned to my side and planted a kiss on the tip of my fingers.
"This is still bad though, Sarah." he said. I sighed and nodded.
"I know." I said, trying to fall back on my bed but that didn't work out so well seeing as I was against the wall so I just banged my head.
"Ow." I said, gripping the spot that got hurt and pouting. Ian smiled, leaned over and kissed the top of my head.
"What should we do, than?" he asked. I sighed again and leaned against hs shoulder.
"I don't know." I said. "Clearly the next step for our parents is engagement but I don't know how far down the road that is." Ian nodded and put his head ontop of mine. Then someone knocked on my door and Ian and I jumped away from eachother. He grabbed a cd cover off of my desk and pretended to look at it.
"Come in." I said quickly, but distractedly.
"Hi guys." Paul said, stepping into the room.
"Hi." Ian and I said in unison.
"Are you guys hungry yet?" he asked
"Kind of." I said.
"Yeah, same." Ian said.
"Would you like some pizza guys?" my mom asked, appearing behind Paul.
"I wouldn't be able to hold that down. I'm not that hungry." I replied.
"Could we just have some chips or something?" Ian asked.
"Sure." my mom replied.
"Wow. That's never happened before." I mumbled. Then my mom came into the room with a bag of chips and tossed them to me.
"If you guys get hungry, just tell us." she said. We nodded and her and Paul left the room.
"What cd were you even looking at?" I asked Ian, turning to him.
"I really have no clue." he replied. He flipped it over and saw that it was Faber Drive.
"Wow, I should've known that one. I have this cd too." he said, putting it on the desk again. I laughed and opened the bag of chips.
"So we need to figure out what we're going to do." I said.
Ian sighed and sat down next to me again. 'I know." he agreed, taking a few chips. We sat there in silence until the phone rang, making both of us jump.
"Hello?" I asked, picking it up.
"Sarah?" a girl asked in a sad tone.
"Avery?" I asked. Ian went wide eyed and so did I. "What's wrong?"
Then she burst into tears. Loud, sobbing tears. I held the phone away from my ear while she continued this. I know you could get upset over breaking up with a guy but she only went out with Ian for like...a week so she was seriously getting way too worked up about this. Especially when she went off and made out with someone else. So if anyone should've been upset, it should've been Ian. Not Avery.
"Ian... Ian broke up with... with me." she sobbed.
"But it was only a week." I pointed out.
"So what?! I knew him for a while and he was such a nice guy!" she yelled, making me remove the phone from my ear again. Ian could hear everything. She was that loud. I decided I'd just put it on speakerphone but make sure that Ian didn't say anything.
"Why would he break up with me? What did I do?" she asked, sniffing. Ian looked over at me and I rolled my eyes.
"She's always like this." I mouthed to him. He nodded knowingly and she went on.
"Well didn't you kiss some other guy last night?" I asked.
"Well yeah, but I had too much to drink." she said. Ian went wide eyed and gritted his teeth. He was about to yell something but I covered his mouth with my hand and he remained silent. "Could you talk to him for me?" she asked.
"Uh, I don't think so." I said hesitantly.
"Why?" she asked.
"Because I'm... ill." I said, going into a fake coughing fit that sounded rather convincing. "I think someone did something to the pop last night."
"Probably." Avery agreed. "Because I really didn't wanna kiss that guy. I wanted Ian to kiss me."
I stole a glance at him. He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, leaning against the wall my bed was pushed up near.
"Well... did he know that?" I asked her.
"No." she replied, blowing her nose on the other line. "Do you think there's another girl or something?"
"Umm..." I began, but I stopped short. Ian smirked and poked my side again.
"Well you know what, whatever. It doesn't matter." Avery said suddenly.
"It doesn't?" I asked her. "I mean, it sure seems like one."
"Well it's not." she snapped confidently.
"Alright." I said. "Seeya."
"Wait!" she yelled right when I was about to turn off the phone.
"What?" I asked.
"Can I come over? I wanna hang out with you. We haven't done much of that lately. You've been with Blake the whole time." she said. My eyes widened and I bit my lip.
"Uh, I don't think that's a good idea." I said.
"Why not?" she asked.
"I said I was sick. Remember?" I said.
"I could bring chicken soup over for you if you wanted." she said. I bit my lip again to hold in a loud, anger-filled groan.
"No thanks." I replied, letting out a breath. "I just need to lie down for a bit. I'll see you on monday though, okay?"
"Alright." she said. "Bye."
"Bye." I said, hanging up. "What did you do to that girl?" I asked Ian. He shrugged.
"Nothing." he said.
"Well she's definitely not over you as you can tell." I said, putting the phone back into the charger on my desk. Ian leaned over to me and kissed my cheek.
"We might have a bigger problem than." he said.
"Oh yeah." I agreed with enthusiasm. "So what're we gonna do?"
"I really have no clue." Ian replied. "We can't tell our parents."
"Right." I agreed.
"Or Avery." he added.
"Yes." I said, nodding.
"If we did, we'd be dead." he said.
"That we would." I put in.
"So lets keep it secret, okay?" he offered. I nodded and quickly leaned over to him, pressing my lips against his. It felt so good to kiss Ian. He was a great kisser, even when it was unexpected or by accident.
Eventually the two of us fell asleep on my bed with his arms around me and The Click Five playing in the background.
