“Listen! What kind of doctors are you! She’s been hit on the head and you’re saying she’s ok to go? She just got here!”
Erin woke up to some loud shouting coming from outside her door and she slowly sat up, groaning at all the commotion. Rubbing her temple with her palm, she looked around. Her room was empty. It’s been empty for a while, besides her father coming in everyday to sit with her and keep her company. But, even so, she’s still felt lonely. As if her room was just one large white room with no one there but her.
What have you done to me? She whispered in her mind as her head fell back against the pillow, groaning even more. She knows exactly what this isolated, lonely feeling is. And she’s never felt anything like it before. As each passing day goes on she feels more and more like this. Her emotions running around in her mind, out of control. She hates it! She hates what’s happening to her. She hates what he’s done to her.
“Damnit, I don’t even know him!” She screams out loud, angry with herself. She’s always been one to keep things under control. To hold off any emotions that may try and act up. But not in this case. Her heart, her mind, herself . . . they crave for him. Without him she feels incomplete. As if part of her is missing. This connection she has with him, it’s deep, it’s like some sort of impenetrable bond; and that terrifies her.
“Erin, what’s wrong!” The door to her room bursts open and her father rushes in with two nurses behind him. “We heard you shouting. Is something wrong?”
Erin blinked in surprise. She didn’t think she screamed loud enough for them to hear. Obviously she was wrong. She let out a sigh before looking towards them shaking her head. “It’s nothing. Bad nightmare. But everything is fine now. Thanks for concerning over me, though.”
Her father gave a small nod before turning back to the nurses, still discussing the matter of her leaving. “She can’t leave. I mean what about her head? She could have been killed. It’s only been a few days. How can she be ok to leave?”
“Sir, please calm down.” One of the nurses stepped in, trying to sooth Erin’s enraged father. “I know this must be hard for you, but we know what we are doing. She is fine. She can leave this afternoon sometime. Everything is back to normal. Her head has healed and there was no major damage in the first place. She was very lucky. She is feeling better, and well enough to go.”
“Are you sure? Maybe a few more days, weeks, or if you need to maybe a month or t—“
“Dad, I am fine. The nurses are right. I feel better.” Erin cut him off. She knows her Dad well enough to know that he would keep harassing them until he got what he wanted or was absolutely sure she was capable of leaving.
“Honey, you were hit on the head. Maybe you are in pain, but you don’t know it because . . . well . . . you are not ‘fully there,’ you know?”
“Dad...” Erin’s eyes narrowed in annoyance. Now she knows he is seriously losing it. He was always the type that was a worrywart. But, is he going to overboard now? “I’m fully here, I can promise you that. Stop worrying so much. I’m fine, I swear.”
With a sigh of defeat, Erin’s father nodded his head in understanding. “If you say so. But are you sure you want to go home? Maybe stay at my place for a while. You know you always have a room at our house. You don’t need to go back home so soon.”
“She’s not.”
Heads turned towards the doorway of her room and Erin’s father looked somewhat surprised. His head went back and forth between the man at the door and Erin, trying to get some sort of sense of what’s going on. “She’s not?” He questioned.
Criss Angel stood, half his body weight leaning onto his hip as he leaned against the doorway, arms folded over his chest, gazing towards everyone.
Erin couldn’t control her own thoughts. Once again, she barely knew the man but even so, something about him intrigued her. She couldn’t control it. Her eyes stared at the enthralling pose he was in and how incredibly attractive he looked in that position. Sexy. He looked sexy. Never once had she had thoughts like that. Always, she’s been able to banish thoughts like that from her mind. Looks never mattered to her. Not once. But now, looking at him, her heart beats faster, looking at the alluring man leaning against the door, gazing back at her with that sexy smile.
What am I thinking?! She gasped in surprise at herself. She looked at herself and then back at him. She, on the other hand was a complete mess. Hair frizzed out, while wearing a white, baggie hospital outfit. The clothes they provide are so ugly. She had no make-up on; her eyes were still drooping from being tired. All and all, she looked like some horrendous hag while he looked alluring and too attractive for his own good.
“No, she’s not.” Criss stated again as he leaned up straight and walked towards her bed and sat in the chair that was positioned right next to her bed. “She’s staying with me tonight.”
“I wasn’t planning on telling him that…” Erin grumbled in a low voice so her father wouldn’t quite catch what she said, while shifting her eyes towards him, giving him a glare.
“Oh she’s staying with you?” Her father busted out, surprised. Just as Erin expected he would do. Hence, the reason why she wasn’t going to tell him.
The two nurses stepped in once again, interrupting them from their debate and nodded towards Erin, “You may go anytime this afternoon. We are glad to see you are feeling better. Your clothes are on the chair over here by the door, so you can change back into them whenever.” One of the nurses replied before both walked out.
Erin sat up, and at once her father panicked. “Not to fast, honey! You don’t want to end up back in the hospital.”
“Dad, control yourself!” Erin snapped towards him. She couldn’t have him keep worrying over her for the smallest things. She just couldn’t. What happened to her was a scary thing and not anything fun to deal with, but even so, she cannot have her father treating her like some child. She’s a grown woman, and she has to face the world without her father holding her hand.
“You’re right. I’m sorry. It’s just that I’m worried about you. After that attack on you I don’t want something like that to happen to you again. It’s really a terrifying thing.”
“I understand, Dad. I can’t say I wasn’t scared at all when this happened, because I was. But it’s from the past and we must move on. You can’t protect me from everything out there. I need to fend for myself. You taught me that.”
She smiled a reassuring smile towards her father, trying to sooth him into finally letting her go. Which he finally came around and did. He looked towards Criss and gave a nod in respect. “Thank you for taking care of my little girl.”
“Please do not call me your little girl…” Erin mumbled, slightly embarrassed. She knows it will be a while before her father actually comes around to treating her like she is an adult, and give her the full respect she deserves. But, in time he will come around. Not only was this a blow on the head for Erin, but it was also for her father. It was like a wake-up call for him. He will now worry for her daughter more and more, but he also has to realize she is old enough to make her own decisions.
“Don’t worry,” Criss gave an amused smile towards her father. “Your little girl is safe with me.”
Erin glared, and her father saw it and let out a shout of laughter. “Maybe it’s not her I should worry for. After that comment you may want to reconsider having her stay with you, Mr. Angel.”

Later that afternoon, once Erin was dressed and ready to go, she went to grab her purse, but froze when she didn’t see it. Old habits die hard. She laughed to herself and headed for the door. She completely forgot she didn’t have it with her because she didn’t come here willingly. If she did, she would have taken it. But, she’s pretty sure none of the police or emergency specialists grabbed it for her.
She walked out her room and down the stairs, to take her leave of the hospital. She already signed the release forms earlier; before she got dressed to leave so she had no papers to worry about and was waved at by some of the nurses at the front desk. “Take care!” They shouted towards her and she nodded back in a respectful gesture.
Once she made it out the hospital doors she stopped in a sudden surprise. “Criss?” She whispered looking towards the man leaning against the side of his car.
“Took you long enough.” He replied impatiently, but with a slight hint of teasing.
“Ah yes, I knew you would be waiting for me, so what better to start off the day than to piss off the Criss Angel?” Erin mocked him and he raised his brows in response. He loved her sense of humor. She may be difficult to handle at times, but she has traits that he absolutely loves about her. Her sense of humor for one, how she always says something that is supposed to be mockery, but she doesn’t mean it.
And he loves her independency. She is her own woman. She won’t take anything from anyone else. Always fighting if she knows she’s right. He may not have known her long, but he’s learned that about her. He has been with plenty of woman. He knows how all different kinds of women are. But this one, this one right here, this defiant, rebellious, outspoken woman compels him like no other. And still he doesn’t know why. She basically has him more wrapped around her fingers than she could possibly know.
Criss watched her walk over to him, his eyes glued on her alluring figure as she walks. So compelling. She’s beautiful in her own way. All that needs to be worked on is her constant bickering.
“Is that how you always like to start your days off? Because from what I’ve remembered that’s what you’ve been doing.” He stood up straight and opened his car door for her to get in, and she instantly sat down, letting out a soft laugh.
“Yes it is. Maybe you should just not wake up tomorrow morning?” She suggested innocently and he gave a smirk in reply, before shutting her door. She reached over to unlock his side of the door, and open it for him. It’s the least she could do. He did open hers, so it’s common courtesy to repay the man and open his door as well. And he admired her for it.
Once he sat down and started the engine, he looked over his shoulders to make sure his blind spots were empty and moved foreword onto the road. Erin stared out her window for a second, happy with herself. Finally she had a small conversation with no fighting. There’s a first. Hopefully things can stay this way. That’s a trait she hates about herself. The need to argue back. If she doesn’t like how things are going, she always has to argue back. She has a problem with letting the other person having the last say in everything.
“We’ll stop at your apartment first so you can get a few things. Unless you don’t mind wearing my boxers and some of my shirts.” He offered. Even though it didn’t show, Erin could see that devious smirk inside him and it made her playfully roll her eyes.
“How generous of you.” She lied, sarcastically and finished off, “We can stop at my place.”
Criss parallel parked across the street from her apartment and Erin got out of the car, rushing across the street. “I won’t take long!” She shouted back towards him, rushing up the stairs into the building and up more stairs to hurry and get to her room. When she got to her door she pulled her key out, quickly trying to unlock the door. Something inside her just wanted to hurry and do this. Something didn’t want to make him wait forever. Was she becoming soft?
He’s making me softer. She mentally thought to herself before opening her door and rushing into her apartment. That has to be it. He has to be making her softer. What other reasons could there be as to why she doesn’t want to make him wait, or why she’s thinking things about him that she would have never given second thought to? What could it be? What is happening to me?
Erin grabbed a bag, throwing in random clothes. At the moment she didn’t pay any attention what she was throwing in the bag. She just wanted to hurry up. She ran to her bathroom and threw in random things that she figured she would need and started looking through drawers frantically, looking for her toothbrush. It was as if she was in some huge hurry. But, in her mind, she was.
“Erin?” A voice was heard at her doorway, and she peered out of the bathroom door and saw Criss walking in.
“Criss? What are you doing? Was I taking to long?” She mentally cursed to herself. She was hoping not to take to long, but it seems like she did. She doesn’t recall being in her apartment that long, though…
“No. You weren’t.” His eyes roamed up and down her alluring figure and then gazed back towards her confused face. She blinked towards him and shrugged it off.
“I promise I won’t take much long—“
She froze. Arms went around her waist, trapping her to a much larger body behind her and she didn’t know how to react. Didn’t know what to do. Criss’s arms tangled around her so she couldn’t move; couldn’t pull herself away.
“W-what are you doing?” Was all she could think of saying. It came so suddenly. One second she was trying to pack and the next second he pulled her close to him. She felt his heartbeat pumping harder and harder and the grip around her waist tightened. All this confused her. Why was he acting this way?
“Holding you.” He said the words simply. His arms untangled from around her waist and turned her body around so she could face him and see the burning need in his eyes; the aching, the passion. It was as if he needed to hold her this way. Something inside him was controlling over him, making him do crazy things. But he didn’t mind. He needed to hold her this way, to look at her the way he was, with a dark, hungry possession.
His hand tangled themselves in her hair, caressing her, moving down the softness of her cheeks. His thumbs brush over her soft lips and his eyes stare at them, at the perfection of them. He was losing self control over himself. He didn’t think any woman had such a power inside her that could completely enthrall a man to the point where he loses himself in some erotic fantasy.
“I need to pack.” She whispered softly; her voice was low, deep. She was confused by his sudden actions. It was written all over her face. But Criss couldn’t stop; he wouldn’t stop.
How are you able to make me feel the way I do? Criss will never know the answer to that question. Lots of women have been able to appease his sexual desires; prove to be fitting girlfriends. But none have been able to make him feel this way. Why is it that someone he has known for a short amount of time can make his body melt; melt into a liquid fire. How so?
He bent his head down to take possession of her mouth, to claim what he wants no other man to claim. He started off gentle, kissing down on her lower lip, teasing her, sending a wave of desire down her slender spine, and then turned the heat up a notch. He parted her lips a bit, just enough to plunge his tongue into her, exploring every inch of her mouth, dominating over her own tongue. He needed this to happen. He never felt such a surge of possession as hard and demanding as this one. He still continues to think about what it is about her that drives him to sheer madness. And that question will be unanswered for some time.
She couldn’t help but give herself into him. To have him dominate over her and give into the pure ecstasy she was receiving. Fireworks exploded; time froze; the magic was beginning. She never felt such a strong need in her life. And by the way Criss took possession of her lustful lips, she thinks he never felt such a strong need either.
But this couldn’t happen. She barely knows the man. How can such a burning need happen between the two of them when they don’t know much about the other? This has to stop.
Erin gasped and shoved her hands between both bodies, pushing him away. This was all too much for her. Too overwhelming. It could not continue like this. Why was this happening? The question was unknown.
“Yes,” Criss answered her earlier comment. “Go pack. I’ll be waiting in the car.” He said to her as he left her standing alone in her bathroom, with her watching him leave. She couldn’t find the strength in her to stop him. To have him kiss her like that again. She just couldn’t. With a sigh, she started looking through her stuff again.
Criss had to get out of there. If he didn’t, another surge of desire would have gone through him and he couldn’t have that happen. He made her nervous, but he also knows she wants him as much as he wants her. She’s just not willing to accept all this yet. Too much has happened to her for her to accept such a drastic request from him. In time she will fully give herself up. She will give in to the demands of her body and the demands of her heart. But, until then, he will wait. He has to. He wants her. No one else will do. But the question still remains: why?
