Freedom 2 of 2
When they reached topside she took in a deep breath of the surface air and smiled. A year living below ground was hard on her, but what would be harder was when it became light and the light from the sun blinded her. They had been walking for most of the night before they found refuge under a shelf of rock. They sat there Jardith shivering in the cold, something he wasn’t used after being brought up in a warm climate, however Tamrin and Angel both sat, cold but used to the low temperatures of the island. Tamrin took pity on the shivering man and flung her cloak around his shoulders and then layback resting on the wall that the shelf rested on top of.
“When first light comes we should leave it will let your eyes slowly get used to the sunlight.” Angel told his two companions. His answer was just a quick nod from them both; everyone was tired, cold and hungry. In the mines although the food wasn’t much it was still there. They had to keep there workers strong enough to work but weak enough to not fight back. Soon sleep took over each of them in turn and the night was silent.
“Hold, papers.” The group had now been travelling for a few hours and were now being stopped by the guards posted outside the harbour where the ferry for the main land was waiting. They needed them so they could make sure that if prisoners did escape they wouldn’t make it off the island luckily Angel still had his uniform on and this caught their attention and they were let through straight away. Once on the ferry their ride lasted only an hour.
“When we get onto the land is when we will face our challenge, no doubt others of my old team will still be around and will help but they are part of Kadus’s army and will only be able to help for so long after that we are on our own.”
“I need a gun,” Jardith muttered, Tamrin looked up.
“I also need some things.”
Angle nodded, “We will get everything we need don’t worry.”
They were now making their way towards an inn, some people gave them second glances but hardly, travellers were common in this day and age when people didn’t really have true homes anymore. When they walked into the inn a rather large man stopped them.
“We don’t allow women in here,” He looked Tamrin up and down suggestively, “Unless they are the entertainment.” He walked over to her and grabbed her face, “She good enough, nice face good body,” the man’s other hand roamed down one side and then back up. She stood there in disgust; Jardith tried to go to her side but was held back by Angel.
“Just wait.”
Within seconds Tamrin had got out of the man’s hold pun his arm up his back and as holding a sparkling dagger to his throat.
“Next time I will slit your throat and watch you die where you stand.” And she flung him away from her “A bed for each of us and food!” she demanded and was soon escorted to a room with three beds. Tamrin dropped herself on a bed and lay back, sighing in relief the first bed she had been in for a whole year. It’s surprising what you take for granted she thought to herself.
“Jardith and I are going to collect weapons, before you say anything its only because two men would go unnoticed. We will be back soon.”
Tamrin glared at the retreating backs of the two ‘men’ she was now obliged to work with and when she no longer had a thing to glare at she flung herself backwards and lay down smiling in delight. The only problem was within a few minuets she was asleep, dead asleep. She never heard her partners come back into the room after hours out gathering supplies and information.
“Should we wake her Angel?” asked Jardith
“No let her sleep, I don’t believe she has slept like this in over ten years. She has been training to be an assassin from the age of 6 and been on the job since the age of 12. Can you imagine it 12 year old children killing.”
“Her? Yeah actually I can. Well fine I’m going to turn in as well.” Angel nodded and as Jardith slept he made his was to the side of Tamrin’s bed.
“Do not fear my sister soon we will be united and rule this land as we were always meant to do side by side.” He kissed her forehead and then climbed into his own bed not knowing that she had heard every word.
The next day was the beginning to the end of their adventure. There they were stood outside of the royal palace, hidden by the shadows Jardith had created. It was strange to Agent Hardath how he had never tried to use his powers to escape but Tamrin explained his confusion away. So now they stood there in silence waiting for the right time to move and set their plan in motion.
“Now” muttered Angel. The trio ran around a corner and through the open back door into the kitchens of the palace. They reached the above floor and split up. The first to find Kadus was to hold him off until another got there to help, he was far to powerful for just one of them alone.
Jardith walked down a long corridor blaster in hand, every time he turned a corner there was nothing there it was like the whole upper floor was completely empty. Well that was what he thought until he found himself surrounded by a dozen of the Kings guards each with a blaster in hand, there was no change he could take them all on with just one blaster, luckily he had two. He flicked it from his sleeve and began shooting calling on the shadows to hide him from his attackers.
Tamrin was also having trouble fighting off a large group of guards, She was doing quite well until someone took the cowards was out and beat her over the head with a large object, she went down to one knee still fighting but the second blow knocked her world into darkness.
Angel was in a large hall and he too was fighting off many armed guards his fight was pointless as there were to many and he was overwhelmed and captured. He was taken and tied up with his other companions in another hall. Stood before the group was King Kadus a smirk on his face.
“Well if it isn’t the Daius twins,” he said looking between Tamrin and Angel, “Come to kill me along with another. Jardith War, controller of the shadows. What a group this is.” He mocked, “I’ll kill you the same why I killed your father.” He walked up to Tamrin and ran a blade down her cheek, “Such a shame, you would have made a perfect wife.”
She glared at him and spat in his face, he slapped her across the face but she still held a defiant glare, “I should have killed the both of you when I first had my chance.” He clicked his fingers and they were released just to be re-taken. Tamrin attacked her capture and this spurred on her two-team members to do the same. Soon all three were covered in the blood of their enemy’s foot soldiers. He just stood there laughing.
“You think you can kill me! Is that what you think!”
Tamrin charged and him blade drawn she was so close she pulled her blade upwards but as she did his arm came out holding a blaster and he fired one shot. As it made contact with her, her blade sliced upwards. She dropped to the floor as Kadus held the same smirk only for a second then blood dripped down his head and his body fell to the ground split in two places. Jardith was the first at Tamrin’s side he took her in his arms and tried to stop the bleeding she just pushed him away.
“I’ve been shot.” She said simply
“I can stop this.2 he muttered to her tears collecting in his eyes, she was confused.
“Why,” she coughed, “Why are you crying?”
“I love you Tamrin! I have for so long.”
Tamrin was shocked, who wouldn’t e those two had been at each other’s throats since the day she had arrived in the mine camp. He smiled at her and stroked her face before leaning down a kissing her. Angel stood over the two and sighed before kneeling down.
“I only just found you again my sister and now I loose you.”
“Yeah well no one to argue with.”
He laughed lightly, “Go onto the next life Tamrin, go on in peace and let the ghosts of the past haunt your mind no more.” She smiled at her newly found brother and love before she let out a final breath and fell limp in Jardith’s arms.
It has been ten years since Lady Tamrin’s death and my father is still on the throne ruing over a new land, a land not destroyed by tyrant rule or hatred. Granted the world is not at peace but it is better. The memory of My father my aunt and Jardith still lives on and inspires the people of the land. No one will forget the hell of the passed years but they can now look forward to new future.
