[FOUR] I, My, Me! [Katekyo Hitman Reborn!]
Well, it's been long enough since I updated and this one is a bit of a cliff hanger, sorry! I figured I'd post this since it's my birthday today and I wanted to do something productive (hehe). Oh my gosh, I'm finally 18! A legal adult! Is that good or bad? Well, I can't drink yet... Oh, and does anyone have suggestions for who Ruruhi should be paired with? I don't know if anyone could stand her...I, My, Me!
Four--Introduction to Tsuna’s Family
Tsuna wondered just what this girl would be doing while in his school, and if she would be around him the entire time. “Furude-san…what class are you in?” How old are you, even? You don’t look old enough to be in middle school.
The blue-haired girl finished pulling on her slippers and immediately jumped up with an index finger pressed against her lips. “SHH! You can’t call me that when I’m undercover, future boss!” A strange expression crossed her face as she began digging through her schoolbag and pockets for something. “Aou…where is it…HA!” She pulled out a school ID card with a flourish(ignoring the fact that her other possessions fell out along with it…was that a pistol?!) before handing it to him.
“Eh?” Tsuna took the card and noticed that the girl’s picture was in the corner, along with her student information. It read: Hikikomori Yana, grade one, class 1-A, Namimori Middle School. Tsuna sweat dropped. Hikikomori…?! She made that name up herself…it doesn’t even make sense! And she’s in my class….uwah…
“You have to call me by that name, future boss!” She claimed with a smile.
Tsuna held back a sigh. “O-okay, Hik…Yana-san.” At least her first name wouldn’t earn him strange stares from passing schoolmates. The only worry on his mind now was what would happen when everyone else met her.
Ruruhi--or, Yana, as she was called in her undercover appearance--seemed quite well-mannered once inside a classroom, and didn’t even draw attention to the fact that they’d walked into the room together until the teacher had called her to the front of the room.
“Class, today we have a transfer student from Tokyo joining us…” His face seemed to twitch when he read the name on the roster and he even had to confirm the name with Ruruhi before he read it aloud. “Ahem…p-please welcome…Hikikomori...Yana. Please tell the class a few things about yourself…Hiki…Yana-san.”
The blue-haired girl clutched her dangerous teddy bear to her chest as she tilted her head in thought. “Myah…I like cherry blossoms and cute things…especially children!”
Tsuna twitched. He pitied whatever child that ever came across that potentially destructive girl.
“V-very well, Hikikomori-san, please take a seat next to--”
“I want that seat!” She announced, pointing to the seat in front of Tsuna, where a random girl who was shuffling through her iPod suddenly shoved it into her bag and looked up, surprised. “I don’t want to be separated from my Tsu-Tsu. You’re not supposed to separate family!”
“E-EH?!” Tsuna gaped, pointing at himself. When did she ever mention they were going to be related?! Even if she was related to the Vongola as well, and they were most likely related somewhere along the way…but still!! And TSU-TSU?! Was that HIS nickname?!
Gokudera seemed to be equally as shocked as he hissed to his boss and nudged him in the ribs. “JUUDAIME, is she for real? You didn’t mention anything about a cousin coming to school! Is she lying? Just give me the word and I’ll blow her sky high for deceiving you!”
Yamamoto seemed to have a different reaction, as expected. “Eh? Tsuna, you didn’t say anything about this! Hahah, the mafia game family is getting bigger each day!”
Did NO ONE hear that her name was HIKIKOMORI? Something was terribly wrong when no one realized that something was wrong.
“N-no, she…Yana-san is…”
“Tsuna-kun, I didn’t know you had family in Tokyo!” Tsuna paused when a sweet voice came from behind him. Of course Kyoko wouldn’t notice anything, either, but he could forgive her for that.
“A-ah, yeah! Yana-san is, uh--” And he wouldn’t disagree with her. He was cut off when Ruruhi joined them.
“My family split, so I got sent here to live with Nana-san and Tsuna while the problems are sorted out!” The fact that she could say such a depressing thing so brightly and with a grin made Tsuna realize she was indeed affiliated with the mafia--no one else besides that kind of person was capable of that. “What’s your name? You can call me Yana!”
“Oh, I see!” Kyoko replied just as brightly. “I’m Kyoko! It’s nice to meet you, Yana.”
By then, Ruruhi had claimed her seat after the confused iPod girl had moved to another area of the room, startled by the girl’s wide, sparkly grin and teddy bear that cracked the desktop when it was set upon it. Ruruhi didn’t forget to thank her, of course.
Soon after the class had settled down, the blue-haired girl turned back to her so called ‘cousin’. “Psst, Tsu-Tsu, can I borrow a pencil? I left mine somewhere…”
Tsuna nearly cried at hearing that nickname again. What was he, a puppy? And the only reason she didn’t have a pencil was because she didn’t clean up what she dropped when she handed him her ID earlier!
Gokudera seemed to snap. “Oi, teme, how dare you call Juudaime such an embarrassing, inferior, disrespectful nickname! Cousin or not, apologize or I’ll make you!”
When the word Juudaime registered in Ruruhi’s head, she tilted it in confusion. “Myah? You know about future boss, silver-hair-san?” The fact that she was being threatened never seemed to cross her mind.
“Aw, Gokudera, don’t be so harsh on the new girl!” Yamamoto joined in as he looked towards the girl. “Are you going to play the mafia game, too, Hikikomori-san?”
Upon hearing the word ‘game,’ she averted her attention from the irritated Gokudera and turned to the baseball lover. “Game? Where? Ruru--er…Yana loves games! Where’s the game?!”
Yamamoto grinned a grin to mirror the girl’s own. “It’s really fun! Tsuna is--”
“OI, baseball freak, don’t interrupt me!” Gokudera growled, brandishing his trademark dynamite.
“C-calm down, everyone!” Tsuna cried, realizing their whispering had escalated into near-screaming. A few of the students had turned to look at them in curiosity. He didn’t want Kyoko-chan to have to see such a thing!
“Sometimes Yana plays a game with Maa-san that has guns and canons and grenades! It hurts a lot when she hits me, though…But she says that tough love is the best love!”
At that statement, most of the class thought the new girl was either a) a victim of severe domestic abuse, or b) just...insane. The teacher briefly thought he might want to send her away to the counselor before he brushed that comment of and returned to the lesson. “…Er…Fujisaki-san, please read the first paragraph on page 219...” Teenagers were melodramatic, after all.
That was the only time there were any problems…until lunchtime.
Tsuna was about to build up the courage to ask Kyoko to eat lunch with him when his ‘family’ crowded around him, specifically Gokudera, and asked if he was going to eat lunch with them. His courage was shot, at that point, especially when Kyoko left the classroom.
Yamamoto and Gokudera were the only ones who joined him, because Ruruhi said she had to scout the school and make sure it was safe for him (“I’m sorry I can’t stay for lunch, Tsu-Tsu, but I have to make sure this place isn’t crawling with anyone who’s a potential threat to you! I’ll be back soon!”).
He just hoped she wouldn’t run into any trouble. (If only he knew who she’d been working for before she met him…)
If she runs into Hibari, she’s gonna die…
