Harvey Dent stood outside an abandoned house with Katie Hail, his girlfriend, by his side. He had tried convincing her to stay home but she had begged him to come along wanting to see the Joker being taken into custody.
Yes, that’s right the Joker, that’s why they and about ten people from Gotham’s police station were standing outside the house. You see the Joker had called Harvey – he had no clue how the madman got his number – and gave him an address telling him that he had his mother – something like that – so Harvey came after calling the police.
“I’m coming in too.” Katie said grasping the hand of the man she loved, but Harvey shook his head no.
“You’re staying out here, it’s too dangerous.” He told her making her frown.
“Please, I want to be with you.” Her chocolate brown locks went wild as the wind picked up.
“Stay here.” He told her kissing her on the lips before he walked off. “Gordon!” He called running up to the Commissioner.
James Gordon turned around looking at him.
“I’m going in.” He said and Gordon shook his head.
“Harvey, you should stay out here with me and Katie. We don’t even know if he has your mom, it could be a trick.”
“No! It may not be a trick!” Harvey yelled and Gordon frowns.
“Alright… I guess you can go in too… just be careful.” The frown was still on his lips as Harvey ran off following the others inside.
It was dark; there were no lights on and nothing in the house. “Hello?” One of the men shouted. No response.
Harvey shivered slightly walking around and entering the living room, still nothing. Suddenly he jumped hearing a loud crash.
“What was that?” A woman asked in a low whisper.
“It came from the basement.” Another woman said.
“Well come on!” Harvey shouted leading the way down the stairs.
When they got down there it was the same as it was upstairs, nothing but a black abyss. But then they heard something and everyone turned around staring into the darkness a light came on, it was a television. Then an image appeared on the screen and Harvey scrunched up his nose.
“Ah.” The Joker grinned madly on the screen and his turn flicked across his lips. “I see that you’ve uh… fallen for my little… trick.” He cackled and Harvey cringed. So the Joker never had his mother. Looking at the screen he noticed something, behind the Joker was a little girl with long hair that looked blonde – but he couldn’t tell because the colors were black and white – what was the Joker doing with a little girl? Slowly Harvey recognized her; she was the daughter of that Callie Walters girl!
“Oh, but don’t leave so soon!” The Joker call as one of the policemen had turned for the door. “You might miss the firrrrewoorks.” His voice grew dark when he said ‘fireworks’. And Harvey stared confused.
“Kaboom! AHAHAHAHA!” Then suddenly there was an explosion and the building began to burn.
(Gotham General)
Nurse Jenny Granger stood above the sedated Callie Walters.
“Poor girl.” She murmured turning away and grabbing her folder. She heard the door open but didn’t turn around to face whoever was there. It was probably just Doctor Helding.
“Hello.” A man’s voice came from behind her but it wasn’t that of Doctor Helding, it sounded high pitched and giddy. Turning around she saw the man, he must be a new doctor at Gotham General because she’d never seen him before but he was wearing the uniform.
His head was down so she couldn’t get a proper look at his face, but she noticed that he had dirty blonde hair that could have once been died the color… green? Yes, green. His legs were bent slightly and his back was hunched over.
“Yes?” Jenny asked as he began approaching Callie. Slowly the man began to lift his head and Jenny let out a gasp. His face was painted chalk white, his eyes surrounded by black, and his crimson red lips formed a horrifying jack-o-lantern grin.
“I believe you have something of mine.” He giggled motioned to Callie.
“Her?” Jenny squeaked.
The Joker glared. “No, not her, the cot! Now unplug her and whatnot so I can take my party favor home and have some fun.” He growled the last word.
Jenny shook. “I-I’m sorry… but she’s not ready to leave.” Her voice was high and the Joker’s head snapped around facing her.
“Did I ask if she was ready to leave?” He asked in a low tone.
“N-no.” Jenny began to slowly unhook Callie from the multiple machines; her hands shake harder feeling the Joker’s cold gaze burn into her.
“Opps!” He shouted and she turned around seeing a gun in his hand. “Too slow!”
BANG!
“ARGH!” Jenny fell to the floor clutching her leg, when she looked up she saw that the Joker was now unhooking Callie.
“Please sir! You might do it wrong!” She shouted as the Joker slung Callie’s limp body over his shoulder.
“Hmm….” He glanced to Callie. “Still breathing.” Then he glanced to Jenny. “But you won’t be.”
“What…?!” But before she could finish the sound of a trigger being pulled was heard and a red spot started to form at her chest. She fell by blood running from the bullet wound.
The Joker smiled and started humming as he skipped out, Callie’s head bouncing off his back with each movement.
(Elsewhere)
Katie’s eyes grew wide seeing the house engulfed in flames. “HARVEY!!!” She screamed running towards the flames but something pulled her back. Turning around she saw Gordon keeping her from moving to the once standing house.
“LET ME GO!” She shrieked trying to pull away. “HARVEY’S IN THERE!” Tears rushing down her face as Gordon shook his head.
“It’s too late Katie.” He looked down.
“NO!” She sobbed falling to the ground. “Harvey!” She cried digging up grass and throwing it into the air. “I-it can’t b-be too l-late!” Her black mascara runs down her faces staining her tan checks.
“I’m sorry.” Gordon said bending down.
“P-please! I-I just want to seeeee him!” She wailed even though she knew it was impossible to since he has dead. “I LOVE HIM!” She screamed grabbing Gordon and burying her face in his chest.
“I LOVE HIM!” She cried over and over.
And she did, she truly did love him and he loved her just as much. But they couldn’t be together. Not anymore, he was gone. Never to be seen again.
“I hate the Joker.” Katie mumbled into Gordon’s chest staining his shirt with her mascara.
“Many people do Katie.” He told her holding her.
“I want him dead.” She growled wishing she could be the one to take his life. Or maybe he could take the life of something close to him. But then again, this was the Joker and he didn’t care about anything.
“Katie… you should get home. I’ll call a cab.”
“Thank you Gordon.” She murmured as he got up. Slowly she opened her pink clutch pulling out her cell phone. She knew Allie’s phone was off because she was out with Jonathan Crane and that Josh was still in the hospital so she called Callie.
Ring, ring, ring. She waited and the answering machine voice came on. But it wasn’t Callie, though it was a voice she knew.
“Hell-o here.” The high pitched voice said giggling. “Little Miss Callie Walters is unable to take your call right now. And I’m sure if you call back she’ll still be busy.” The speaker giggled again. “But feel free to leave a message that probably won’t be heard, you know how my sweet angel is about getting back to people. Horrible. I mean seriously four years without one phone call?” The giggles turned into a manic fit off laughter and Katie glared.
“Have a super day!” Beep.
Katie hung up anger now rising within her. So Callie was back with the Joker and she hadn’t told her? Katie shook her head, some friend.
Getting up Katie let out another sob looking to the building. “Goodbye Harvey.” She whispered closing her eyes. “I love you.”
Turning away the cab pulled up and she got in slamming the door behind her. Her mind now reeling scheming, a plan bubbling in her head.
People once called her a bitch in high school, and she was about to prove how right they were. The queen of all bitches was there and she was ready to tear down anyone and everyone. She had her ways, she could sneak behind people’s backs or do things right to their face and they’d probably never know.
Alright, she didn’t have an exact plan but she was working on it.
Pulling up to the swanky posh hotel she hands the cab driver a wad of cash giving him a very generous tip.
“Thank you miss.” The driver says.
Katie gives no response tears still in her eyes she makes her way out of the car and to the entrance.
(Joker World)
“HAHAHAHA!” Laughter filled the air as the Joker speed down the streets of Gotham in a stolen police car. He smiled glancing behind him to Callie who was lying in the back seat. He could hear sirens and his smile grew. “Oh a chase! This is going to be soooo much fun!”
He leans over grabbing a large gun from the passenger’s seat and rolls down the window as a police car pulls up beside him. Sticking the upper have of his body out the window and grinning madly at the driver.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
And he was dead. The Joker laughed loudly shooting at the tiers of the other cars. Then turning around he shot the gun breaking the back windshield. Glass went everywhere and a great deal of it landed on Callie.
Shooting the gun again he hit the driver right in the face. Laughing he quickly turned the steering wheel down an alley – a short cut to the penthouse – and came to a sudden stop and the back of the building laughing loudly when he heard Callie’s body fall landing with a thud.
The Joker skipped out of the elevator carrying Callie bridal style and opening the door entering the living room.
Diana sat on the coach with Mark and Billy and when she lifted her head her eyes immediately lit up. “Mammy!” She called in excitement running over to the Joker and wrapping her arms around his legs.
“Is she dead?” She asked frowning as she looked up at Callie.
The Joker threw his head back laughing loudly. “Noooooo, she’s just sleeping.” He smiled and Diana released him staring up at her mother.
“When will she wake up?” She asked poking Callie’s limp arm.
“Uh….” The Joker licked his lips looking at Callie’s face. “About tomorrow afternoon… evening.” He murmured and Diana nodded following him as he took Callie to the bedroom.
Gently he lay Callie down on the bed and stepping away he removed his jacket wrapping it around her body. The Joker walked to the other side of the bed getting on top and scooting over so he was next to Callie. And then Diana hoped on getting in between him.
Slowly the little girl’s eyes shut. “Good night Daddy.” She murmured quietly in French. “I love you.”
She rolled over onto her right side resting her head on the Joker’s stomach and he placed a hand on her head, twirling her hair around his fingers.
DIANA! Isn't she so cute! ^-^
