Prolouge:

A tiny girl, barely 13 years old, stood in her gloomy bedroom, staring out at her dying city. Her friends, and most of her family had died years ago, leaving her with her abusive father. She watched as the remaining citizens prepared for battle. Crusaders of the so called "Holy Roman Empire" were right on their doorstep. Her city, and many others of France had been labled a threat. Someone on the other side thought that there was a demon wandering in this place.

The rain pounded hard onto the many homes of this city, as if trying to discourage the citizens. Her father had left her at home, currently in charge of leading their miniscule force against the might of the Holy Roman Crusaders.

Silently she whispered to herself, or the one she saw behind her.

"They are here for you...you know that right?" she said to the bone covered figure behind her. The demon had chosen to stay with the little girl with no notice. The bone drake had called herself Caladria, but Alleria simply used demon. Caladria hissed a yes, not daring to look at the child. It was her fault that these people would die.

'How could he track me from so far?' she thought. 'If only this girl knew what she is going to become.'

Alleria slowly turned from the demon, staring out of her window again. The scenery had changed. There was smoke rising from the eastern side of the city, the cries of women and children filled the air. It had begun.

"I'm so sorry." the demon whispered. "Nothing can be explained....yet."

*on the other side*

"General! General Frederick!! Our orders are to march. The city of Kharikhos is practically defenseless. The demon cannot hide in such small quarters. The time to charge is now!" a messenger from the Emperor himself shouted, handing the General his orders.

"As you wish. Dismissed!" the General barked, urging his mount forward towards his son. He sat a bit unsteady on his war horse. You might be a bit edgy too at your first battle. "So, are you ready to abolish your first demon for your Emperor?" Frederich spoke. "Well, I don't really see this as an honorable battle. In my opinion we're just sending these people to the slaughter for the sake of someone who is only sending us in here on a hunch." his son said, his voice slightly bewildered.

"Siegfried, my young lad. You'll understand soon. This is a demon we're dealing with, we can't take any chances."

"So we just march in and destory the people of a country who hasn't even harmed us yet?! We raze an entire city to the ground just because someone told us to?! Look at them father! They can't even defend themselves!." Siegfried shouted his disdain.

"If you knew what this demon has done to more than just this town, you too would be as grateful as I am to be rid of her. Prepare your forces to charge." Frederick said, turning to his own forces.

Siegfried stared out at the dying city. He had to find the demon before too many people were harmed...if there even was a demon. Suddenly, explosions could be heard everywhere. Frederick's army had charged. He sighed.

He lifted his Zweihander expertly above his head. "CHARGE!!"

*back in the city*

Alleria quietly sketched various different circles on the cold wooden floor of her room, humming a ghostly toon only known by demons. Caladria had taught it too her. The demon herself had gone missing, leaving the young Alleria to fend for herself. Little did she know there was another demon lurking about.

She sat isolated in her cramped room, ignoring the cries of help, the smell of burnt flesh, the raging fires that roared just outside her door. She was jolted from her state of misery as her Father charged into her room.

"Alleria! What are you doing in here?!"

"I am staying safe, as you said...father."

"BE SILENT!!" he shouted suddenly, striking her in the face. She fell to the floor, blood trickling out of a shallow gash on her forehead. "I know why these damned Romans are here! It is you they want! I knew all along a demon had followed you, and now she is massacering the city! Luckily I can save us." her father said, his voice hinting a bit of insanity. "I'll leave you to these dogs, you little witch!"

With that, her father stalked out of the room, slamming the doors behind him. Alleria sat slumped on the ground, cradling her already bruising cheek. Tears began to roll down her pale, dirtied face. 'What...did I do?' she thought.

She rushed to calm herself, she could not act this way in such an environment. She began to hum the same demonic tune from before. Caladria had told her stories, of someone who could save her someday. He would come when she needed him desperatly...when she needed escape. Caladria's story was so beautiful, she only dreamed it was true.

She moved towards her window, watching the mayhem unfold. Caladria couldn't have caused this, and she was the only demon Alleria knew. She continued to hum to tune, hoping he would find her.

*In the Midst of Battle*

Siegfried sprinted through the dark, burning city, cutting down anyone who stood in his path. He had to find the demon before too many died. Two of his fellow soldiers were using the fight as a game. He glanced their way, over hearing them counting their kills. "Ugh! This is repulsive." he whispered, forcing his body to run faster.

Suddenly, his vision went black & white. Everything was silent, except for the low humming of a beautiful but depressing tune. He looked around to find the source, seeing a small girl, barely younger than himself, staring out her window at the death and carnage of her city. He couldn't help but feel remorse. He noticed another bothersome thing about the girl. There was color on her face, a deep crimson crawling down from the girl's forehead, dripping off of her cheek. Then he saw the two soldiers from before charge into her home. She turned around, a terrified expression on her face. He had to help.

*Alleria's P.O.V.*

She silently hummed the toon, ignoring the warm sensation of her blood trickling down her skin. She felt that there were eyes on her, someone else listening to a song no one could hear. As she hummed the last note, a huge crash came from below her. Her gaze was torn from the outside, as two Roman soldiers stomped in.

"Well what do we have here?" one of them spoke, he was short, with messy raven black hair. His armor and axe were covered in dirt and blood. The other was about a foot taller, brandishing a shining silver longsword.

"'Ey, lookey 'ere. There's a demon circle there!" the short one announced exitedly. The other smirked at his partner, "She's the one then, does she count as 1 or a half?"

"Hm..I'd say only a half." the short one said, walking towards Alleria with his axe ready. She stumbled back, her face terrified. She couldn't die like this, she had done nothing wrong. Yet, in the Roman's eyes, she was a heretic, a witch.

"'Ey, why don't we burn 'er? If she really is a demon, she won't be hurt and we can throw her in a Church and watch her squirm."

"Bah! That's a waste o' time. Let's just be rid of her and go home. She seems harmless anyway."

She threw a nearby cup at the short one and bolted. An hard silver pommel came slamming down into her skull, drawing blood. The other's axe bit deep into her leg. Shrieking, she tried to crawl away, but the tall one had his sword at her throat in an instant.

Then, another crashing sound was heard. She forced herself to look. Another Roman had entered.

"What do you think you're doing?!" he bellowed, his tone furious. "Jus' bein' rid of the demon, m'ilord. What's it look like."

"Looks to me like you're harming an innocent child. You know it's forbidden."

"But look sir, the circles, they are of demonic origin. Plus, nobody ever said we couldn't kill children."

"You bastards!" he shouted, swinging an enormous sword, at least the as big as Alleria, if not larger. The two soldiers had no time to retreat, as the Zweihander beheaded them both. Alleria blinked, staring at her "would be" savior. 'Could it be him?' she wondered. He shook his head, as if trying to rid himself of a headache, then looked down at Alleria. Her eyes were wide with amazement and horror. He crouched down in front of her, reaching out to touch her face.

She flinched and tried to crawl away, then yelped as firery pain shot through her leg.

"Don't move, I'm trying to help you." he said, soothingly. He knew her language? He gently grabbed her leg, examining the wound, then ripped off a piece of his cloak and wrapped it.

She winced as he pulled tight to staunch the bleeding. "Sorry." was all he said, as he moved on to the next wound. He noticed her pale blonde hair was crimson in certain parts. She whimpered as he moved strands of hair out of her face to see to her head. He ripped off another piece of his cloak, wiping the blood from her face.

Suddenly she could see so much clearer. She was stunned at what she saw. The one she saw in front of her was merely a boy, barely old enough to be fighting in an army. He had light blonde hair, short and unruly, startling ice blue eyes that pierced straight through hers, and a determined face, as if he was searching for something. Or someone. She was pulled from her trance as he picked her up. Her wounded leg bounced uncomfortably against his armor, causing her to wince every now and then.

*Siegfried's P.O.V.*

He could hardly believe such heartless people. To want to kill a little girl, simply because she looked like a demon. The circles still made him a bit cautious, but surely she couldn't have made them. He moved carefully out of her home, making sure not to bump her into anything.

Once outside, he let out a sharp whistle. The sound of thunderous hooves filled his ears as his "much larger than a horse needed for his size" galloped down the road where he stood. The beautiful white horse's coat had been stained with blood, the magnificent creature killing a few people himself. He trampled over a wounded Roman soldier on his way to Siegfried.

Soon, the war horse was all that filled Siegfried's line of sight, as he gently laid Alleria onto his back. He then mounted, then situated Alleria into a sitting position. Once she was secure, he slammed his heels into the horses mid-section.

With surprising speed the horse reared up, then galloped out of the area. Siegfried needed to get her to safety quickly. He couldn't tell why he felt this way, but he needed to. Someone else could find this demon.
