The two did not have time to associate themselves well before the door slid open with a strong force, sounding as if someone was pushing it along in impatience.
The sound of heavy buckle boots echoes through the stone corridor as a familiar face appeared from the dark, illuminating under the torch light. Alice grimaced at his presence and moved back to her cot quickly.
"Victoria," Laurence hissed as he moved to her cell, ripped open the door, and grabbed her by one of her furry kitten ears. "What did I tell you about talking to strangers? Do you want something like last time to happen again?"

Alice listened as a soft whining meow of protest echoed through the cold room from her mouth. The flick of her ears zoomed through the thin air as she struggled to break free of his grip.

"No, sir." She softly spoke as he tugged towards the water fountain. He forcefully pushed her down to sit as he turned to shut the cell's door.

"Ahen has an assignment for you, Victoria." Laurence sighed as he turned back to her.

Something told Alice it wasn't necessarily a good thing by the desperate look that crossed Victoria's face. Her kitten ears flicked down against her head in sadness as she scooted away from him, her tail dipping into the cold water.

"I don't want to," she softly whined as her dark brown eyes darted up towards Laurence in plea. Alice watched as his face softened for a moment, but thenbecame serious once more.

"You agreed to this. You swore to honor us," he frowned at her.

"But not to this," Victoria stood up tall, her head almost reached the same height as Laurence's. Alice took a moment to take in her appearance. Long blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders to her mid back, where t split to reveal a brown kitten tail, flowing side to side as she awaited a response.

"It's this or death, Victoria. Choose," Laurence shrugged her away as he turned and began to exit the hall. The wall slid open allowing a sliver of white light to gleam in from the rest of the mansion.

Victoria stood with a cross expression on her face, mentally debating what she was to do. She turned her hollow eyes to Alice and her smile faultered o her face as she spoke.

"I'm sorry, Alice. But I must leave you." She spoke in a delicate tone. It sounded as sweet ad soft as feather brushing upon silk.

"I don't understand," Alice frowned as she moved to the cell wall.

"You will understand in time." Victoria frowned at her as she began to exit to the open door. "All I can impose to you is to trust no one here. They will betray you in one way or another, from what I've learned. If given the chance, you must leave this place. Otherwise, you'll die here alone and cold like the others."

Alice's eyes widened in bewilderment as she listened to the door click close. he was left alone once again. And now her mind really was the only one here to accompany her.

And right now, the only thing it could speak to her was,

What the hell just happened?
