I yawn, stretching out my arms, and notice that I've gone back to my normal size. Probably since I can't keep up that form while unconscious. I blink my eyes into focus and stand up, brushing the dirt off of my clothes, and stretch my stiff back. The ground isn't the most comfortable place to sleep. I look up from my shirt-brushing and see four naked guys sleeping in the small clearing. My face turns beet red and I turn around hastily. Oh my god. I guess they aren't blessed with being able to keep their clothes. Then again, they wouldn't do much good when they're seven feet tall. But still, they could have at least warned me last night. Oh, this is so embarrassing. I walk over to Kai, forcing my eyes not to travel lower than his sleeping face. I crane my neck back and look up at the sky as I nudge his rib with my foot. He grumbles and I nudge him again, "Uh... Kai?"

At my voice he springs up and his face goes slightly pink. "Sorry." He walks behind some bushes and retrieves some clothes he apparently had hidden there and changes quickly. He comes back out and walks over, cheeks still slightly pink. "You can look now. I'm dressed." I look down and tilt my head from side to side to get rid of the small cramp in my neck. "Sorry about that. I'm so used to it being only us guys so I forgot."

"No problem." I mumble. "Can you wake them up too?" I ask, gesturing over in his friends' direction without shifting my eyes at all.

"Oh, right." He says embarrassed. He walks over and wakes his friends up in the same fashion that I woke him up. They retrieve their own hidden clothes and change, returning to the clearing moments later.

"Hey, do you want to go out to breakfast?" I ask the guys, "A friend of my mom owns a small coffee shop that isn't too far from here."

"Sure." Kai replies, flashing his beautiful smile.

Luce grins and Pierce elbows him in the ribs then turns to me and kindly says, "We'd love to, but we should be checking back in." Pierce waves then starts walking away, dragging Luce with him.

"I'll cover for you, dude." Cane says, pounding his fist against Kai's with a smirk. Then he follows Pierce and Luce and they all disappear from site.

"I have a feeling we were just set up." Kai points out with a shake of his head.

"I don't mind." I say, flashing a half smile, half smirk his way.

He smirks back with a small chuckle. "Lead the way."

"Uh... Where are we exactly? In relation to the town." I ask. He shrugs so I sigh and turn back into my faerie form, hovering high above the forest. I survey where we are and where the diner is then fly back down and change back. "Alright. We go this way." I say, pointing to the right of us.

We walk for a good twenty minutes before we reach the edge of the forest. "Are you serious?" I ask through laughs.

"I shit you not," Kai replies with another chuckle.

"Oh man, that must have been embarrassing," I say with a grin.

The few people who are walking giving us weird looks for just strolling out of the forest, but we pay no mind. We jog across the street when we get a chance and slow down to a walk when we reach the sidewalk.

"So how much further is this diner of yours?" Kai asks, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Right here actually," I remark, stopping at the door of a cozy coffee shop on our right and open the door.

A small bell jingles softly as the door swings open and we step inside. The place isn't too packed, but it's not empty either. This place never got an overwhelming amount of customers, just the usuals who enjoy the calm atmosphere. A tall, skinny blonde looks up from the order she was taking a smiles widely at me, "Vena!" She turns to the old couple at the table she's serving, "Excuse me a moment."

They smile and nod, giving me a small wave. I wave back before being enveloped in a hug by the petite blonde, "Oh, it's so good to see you hun!" She pulls away and holds my shoulders so she can study me, "How did your first day of work go?"

"Uh..." My eyes shift to Kai for a moment before landing back on her, "Great! Just, great."

"Oh, well that's great I guess," she replies with a laugh, fully releasing me. She steps back, looking Kai up and down. "Uh, who's your friend?" she asks with a half smile.

"Kai," he replies for himself, "Nice to meet you, uh..."

"Oh!" the blonde jumps, "I'm Annette. You can just call me Annie, though."

"Well, it's nice to meet you Annie," he smiles with a small nod of respect.

"Uh, Annie?" Annie turns to me with a small 'hm?', "You left the customers sitting there again," I chuckle.

"Oh!" she jumps then giggles, "You know the deal; take a seat and I'll be right there." With that she rushes back to the old couple apologizing.

I chuckle and turn to Kai, "Let's go, that booth over there is open."

He nods and I lead him to the front corner of the shop where there's a small red-cushioned booth next to the wide glass window. "So, what does this place have for food?"

"A lot," I chuckle, "Anything breakfast-y."

"Well, I'll have whatever you’re having," he flashes another brilliant smile.

I smile back and Annie prances over, "So... What would you kiddies like?"

I roll my eyes, "Us 'kiddies' would like my usual."

"Ooh..." She giggles as she writes it down and looks up at Kai from her notepad, "I hope you're hungry." He raises a brow, but she just smirks, "That'll be ready in fifteen minutes."

Kai turns to me with a questioning look and I just shrug with an innocent smile. He turns and gazes out the window. I prop my elbow on the small square table and put my head in my hand, just admiring the boy across of me, the way the light shines on his face and illuminates his beautiful- "Whoa, what's their problem?" Kai asks with a laugh pointing at a group of people out the window.

I snap out of my trance and look out the window as well and my eyes widen, "Shit!" I duck under the table in the fetal position. Kai sticks his head under the table just as the bell on the front door jingles, "What's wrong?"

"Hell Annie!" I hear the bubbly voice of my mother greet.

"It's my parents." I reply, "Quick, look natural."

Kai removes his head from under the table and goes back to looking out the window. I quickly turn into my fearie form and sit on his side of the booth in the space between hi leg and the window. I elbow him really hard in the leg and he looks down and his eyes widen. "What are you doing?" he hisses, then looks around to make sure no one's listening, "If you get caught-"

"I won't get caught if you just shut up. And make sure you don't squish me." I respond. He nods reluctantly and looks back out the window for the umpteenth time.

My parents make light conversation with Annie before getting to the point. "Have you seen our daughter anywhere? She never came home after work."

"Um..." I can imagine she's looking over at our table confused, "Yeah." I mentally curse at her, "She stopped by here not too long ago. Maybe she's on her way home." I let out a sigh of relief.

"Oh, alright. Thank you." My mother replies hurriedly and the door jingles again. I drop back down under the table and turn back, then crawl back onto the seat.

Annie walks over with pursed lips and a raised brow, "So, what exactly did you mean by 'great'?"

"Uh... So great that I forgot to check in and then met up with my friend instead." I reply nervously.

She sighs with a roll of her eyes and puts her hands on her hips, "Well, you better get going if you're going to beat them home."

"Shit." I curse and spring from my seat and rush out of the coffee shop.

Kai rushes after me while I'm swearing excessively on the sidewalk. "Where exactly do you live? 'Cause I can get you home in no time," he smirks.

"You can't change here," I hiss.

"I can in the forest," he offers, glancing across the street.

I look around, debating with myself, "Fine!" We run across the street and back into the forest.

He morphs into his hairy form, leaving his clothes in bits on the ground. "Get on," he commands in his rough voice.

I hop on his back and wrap my arms loosely around his neck. He grabs a hold of my legs and takes off. We must be going at least 40mph because the wind in my face is making my eyes water. I bury my head in his back to hide from the harsh air. "Are you alright?" he asks, stopping.

"Yeah. Why'd you stop?" I ask, removing my face from the soft fur of his back.

"We're at the clearing where we slept last night," I look around to confirm and see the same soft grass and trees, "Where do we go from here?"

"Uh... Left. And keep going left until the forest thins, then follow the trees right and my house should be just outside the forest," I instruct.

He nods, grabs something from the ground, and we take off again. I put my face in his back again, but this time turn my head so I can see the trees whizzing by. I smile and hug his neck a little tighter. I see the trees thinning and he slows, taking a right as I instructed. In no time he comes to a halt and squats down so I can hop off. I peer through the trees and notice all the lights in the house are out. I release a sigh and turn back to Kai. He's back in his human form and slipping on a fitting black band tee. I raise a brow, "Where the hell did you get clothes?"

"I grabbed 'em from the clearing," he says, smoothing out his shirt.

"Oh," I look down and scuff my shoe on the dirt.

"You should get going. I don't want you getting in trouble because of me," Kai smiles.

I take a step closer to him. "Thank you... So much," I say looking into his eyes. I go on my tip toes and press my lips against his. He grabs my arms and kisses back. I get a tingly feeling in my stomach and pull away, biting my lip, "So... I'll see you later?"

He smirks with a chuckle then smiles down at me, "Of course."

I smile one last time and run out of the forest towards my house. I open my back door slowly and creep through the kitchen and up the stairs. I make it to my bedroom and shut the door with a deep exhale of the breath I had been holding.

I hear the front door open and feet pounding up the steps. My door is thrown open and I turn just in time for my mother to suffocate me in a hug. My father walks in calmly, "See honey? I told you nothing happened to her."

"Shut up," she says, releasing me, "I'm allowed to be worried about my baby."

"So how did your mission go?" my father asks.

"I couldn't find him or his pack. Then I fell asleep in a tree trunk. I didn’t want to come straight home 'cause I thought you'd be mad at me, so I went and had breakfast instead. I pretty much just got home," I reply, making it up as I go. I even look at the floor with a frown to make it more believable.

"Oh honey!" my mom exclaims, "We aren't mad at you. I didn't complete my first mission either." She smiles at me, and my father nods from behind her.

"As long as you're safe," he smiles, "That's all that matters."

I raise my head and smile back, "Thanks. Now I'm going to take a shower if you don't mind."

"Oh, of course!" my mother says, pushing my father out the door, "Let's go, dear."
