Chapter 2 : Abrupt Beat Of Rhythm

I wonder what this woman has to do with Alex's father. She looked like she really needs to see Mr. Burberry. Mr and Mrs Burberry are in New York on a business trip. They won't be back till next week.
"They are not here at the moment" Alex said to the lady.
"Oh. Well then. Never mind. Could you please give this to him when he comes back?" She replied as she handed this peculiar looking briefcase to Alex. Alex hesitated but she took it anyways. Before the lady could turn and leave, Alex called out to her.
"Excuse me"

"Yes?"

"If you don't mind my asking, what is your name and why do you need to see my father?"

"You are straight forward for a young girl. But I'll answer you anyway. My name is Sylvia Taylor and i need to see your father because i have urgent news to tell him before its too late"

"Well, he's uhh.. he won't be back till next week"

"Why is that?"

"He's in New York on a business trip with my mom"

"With your mom eh?"

"Yea"

"Oh. Alright. Well, please give the briefcase to him when he comes back"

Once the lady said that, she turned and left. She got into a Mercedes CLK 200. Wow. She's rich, i thought. Alex turned to me and said,
"What is in this thing?"

"Oh. Maybe its a bomb" I joked.

"Are you nuts? Don't joke with me."

"Sorry. But do you want to open it?"

"Yea"

"Then what are you waiting for? If you won't open it, i'll open it for you."

"Ok ok. Lets sit down first"

We went to the couch and Alex placed the briefcase on the coffee table. She opened it and there was a cd. That was it. Just a cd.

"It looks like a video cd" I said.

"Thank you Ms. Obvious, Anyway, lets see it"

"But wouldn't you worry what your aunt would think bout this when she comes back?"

"Don't worry. She's too busy shopping, she won't be back till midnight. Plus, why would we wanna tell her?"
I nodded in agreement. She placed the cd in the player and pressed play on the remote control. The same blonde lady appeared on the screen.

Hi. I know its been a long time since we last seen each other but i hope you would call me as soon as you get this. Remember the night we spent by the river? Well, it took a toll on me the next day. She took a deep breath bracing herself for the next sentence. We have a child together, Ryan. He's currently attending boarding school. He doesn't know about you yet. I just wanted to let you know if you would want to see him. Well, thats it for now. Hope to see you soon. Love, Syl.
Alex dropped the remote to the floor. Too stunned to speak.
