Subwoofers can play an important role in car stereo systems. Most would agree that a car stereo is in complete if it does not include a subwoofer. A subwoofer is used to reproduce the lowest frequencies of the sound. Subwoofers typlically come in 8", 10", 12" and 15" sizes. The larger the subwoofer the larger the space required for the subwoofer.
Subwoofers come in all different power classes. Visually, you can tell the distinguish an active subwoofer from a passive one by looking to see if it comes with a plug. Active, powered subwoofers have to be plugged up. Subwoofers can be used for a variety of reasons including: infinite baffle, bandpass types, acoustic suspension, and bass reflex. They are useful for providing the main loudspeakers with playback of high-level, low bass frequencies.

Subwoofers also come in different sizes. Some can be as small as 8" in diameter and some can be around 60" in diameter. You should buy a subwoofer that fits the type of music you listen to. The larger the woofer the slower the responce time. They will also inform you of the differences between a basic subwoofer and one that is already installed in a box. Some powered subs come combined with amplifers and woofers in their enclosures.
A car audio subwoofer can be a perfect compliment to your car's stereo system. Ask an expert to find out which type of subwoofer would most likely be in synch with the rest of your car's audio equipment. You can also pick out a subwoofer that will compliment your car's color and style. If you have a brand new sports car, for instance, you wouldn't want to go around with an old fashioned subwoofer. Make sure you choose a subwoofer that compliments your car's overall appearance. There are so many types of subwoofers to choose from, and you need to make sure you choose the best for your car.
