‘O’right you’ve got my message machine so leave one once its beep,’

“Marianna it’s your mother, where are you? I’ve tried to get hold of you for two weeks now, call me.”

Marianna groaned after the message ended. She lay on the floor of her apartment surrounded by mess. She had been lying there almost permanently for two weeks. She’d passed out for the first few days after drinking herself into a stupor, friends had come round almost knocking the door down and her mother had called everyday. All the people that knew her had been following her destructive pattern for almost a month now and had found no way of stopping her.

Her mobile rang and that finally brought her round fully from her latest drunken sleep. She left it to ring and as soon as the ringing stopped the pounding on the door began. She tried to pull herself from the floor but found she had no power to move. Any movement caused her vision to blur and her head to spin. She lay staring at the door her throat to dry for her to send them away her body to weak for her to move. Minuets later her door flew open and a tall dark haired man from down the hall stood there with Marianna’s brother.

He ran into the room and his face fell at the state of the place. Her neighbour spotted her on the floor and immediately went over and picked her up. Her brother rang for an ambulance and soon she was lying in a hospital bed hooked up to machines.

“How will she be after everything?” Her brother asked

“Well after we have flushed any remaining alcohol from her system she will get better, her liver will eventually get slightly better, but it wont be fully healthy due to the amount of damage done in such a small space of time,” The doctor explained to him and he nodded solemnly, “She’ll have to stay with someone until she can be trusted to be on her own.”

“She’ll be staying with me.”

It was a few days before Marianna even woke and when she did she was almost as weak as she had been when her brother found her.

“Where am I” she managed to force out to the figure in front of her

“The hospital,” came a cold voice she remembered as her vision cleared the light brown hair and athletic build of her eldest brother appeared, she gave him a weak smile but only received a disappointed glare.

“I am sick and tired of your self destructive path Marianna, you cannot be trusted by yourself, you’re to live with me until you can be trusted again.” He told her calmly, but the anger was still there

“I,”

She was cut off, “No you have driven mother to the edge and for some reason you don’t think about your actions. Your killing yourself.” He said growing more irritated, “You annoy me when you’re like this, do you even have a reason or do you enjoy hurting people like this!”

He sighed and shook his head

“Mums out side, I am going to come and see you, but if she leaves upset because of you,” he didn’t even finish his sentence, he didn’t have to she knew already. She nodded her head as best she could and he walked out. A few moments later an older, blonde version of the girl in the bed walked into the room tears in her eyes.

“Oh Marianna how could you be so stupid,” she sobbed, gripping the hand of her daughter

“Sorry mum,” came a horse whisper, her mother burst into a new batch tears and hugged Marianna.
