(Your POV)
You couldn't believe what you had done. You remembered back to before you met Sesshomaru. Back then you'd have only given your life to kill Kuru. You had been fueled by revenge. Since you were eight years old, that was all you knew. And even after you had discovered that you had become a ghost, you had been set on revenge. Even in death, you wanted revenge on Sesshomaru for not saving you. All because you had wanted revenge against a demon who had trashed your house. And just one stupid centipede demon's fang piercing your heart had changed that.
But here you were again. A fatal wound to the heart. It was becoming something of a habit. But for once, the injury wasn't out of revenge. It was out of love. You weren't about to let the very person who had cured your heart of revenge be killed. And definitely not by someone you were set upon getting rid of. If anyone was going to die tonight, it was going to be you.
"ASANI!"
You cringed at Sesshomaru's voice. You knew that if you died, you'd only have one regret. Leaving Sesshomaru alone again. You remembered what he had confessed to you the night he made you his mate. He had told you what his deepest fear was...
Your knees suddenly buckled as Hisan removed his hand from your gaping wound. It was obvious your mind was no longer working at keeping you standing. You fell back and expectantly landed in Sesshomaru's arms.
"Not this again." You groaned, forcing a smile.
"Does it always have to be my heart? How-" A cough interrupted your speech and you winced at the sudden movement. Well, so much for your long, boring death speech.
"Don't talk." Sesshomaru commanded, laying you gently down on the sand. You shook your head slightly, clenching your teeth as the pain sent your limbs shaking which only caused more pain.
"No. Take Hisan into the forest behind...the house. Tsuki's there with the seal. Put Hisan back where he belongs. Do me that at least." You forced out. And despite that it was obvious Sesshomaru didn't want to leave you, he obeyed your wish and stood up to face Hisan again. You watched from the corner of your eye, trying to hold off the inevitable for as long as possible.
"Damn. I didn't want to kill her just yet." Hisan cursed under his breath, looking down at you with worry. You didn't understand why he'd be worried about you. He wanted you dead eventually, right?
"Once again my son's words come to show their worth. It's the calm and quiet ones who have the worst temper tantrums." Hisan said and you quickly understood. But not because of what he said but because you could sense Sesshomaru's power doubling. Well, it seemed Hisan's fear that Sesshomaru got pretty scary when he got angry was rightly placed.
In only a moment's time, Sesshomaru's infamous dog form stood before you. He towered over Hisan who had stepped back to transform as well. However, Sesshomaru didn't give him the time. He promptly planted his paw down on Hisan and growled. And to your great surprise, Hisan laughed.
"Aw. Now I know who you are. To call yourself simply the lord of the western lands was insulting yourself. You should have told me you were related to the Inu no Taisho. You're his son, right?" Hisan asked, uselessly fighting to push Sesshomaru's paw off of him. But at the mention of his father, Sesshomaru drew back and removed his paw but still glared at Hisan.
"I don't know why I didn't notice before. You look a lot like him. Although, I only knew him as a child, I thought he showed great potential. Guess I was right." Hisan stated as he stood up, replacing his sword at his side. He then transformed as well, becoming a giant black cat.
You couldn't help but smile at that. Hisan wasn't such a bad person fundamentally. If it wasn't for the fact that he was power hungry, he'd have been an honorable ancestor to have. Not only did he admit he was afraid of something and admit he had a weakness, but he also admired his opponent even if they would soon be the end of him.
But now was hardly the time to be thinking about how Hisan wasn't as bad as you had originally thought. Instead, it was time to start thinking of staying alive long enough to say goodbye. Because this time, you doubted the devil would help you return to life. After all, it seemed today was the day you were fated to die.
As you tried hard to keep all your movements slow and careful, you turned to watch the battle that would take place. This time, however, Sesshomaru's opponent wasn't a weak demon like Liana. It was someone who would surely give him a run for his money.
Hisan, in his monstrous cat form, was bigger than Sesshomaru but surprisingly not by much. But instead of seeing this as a strength, you saw Hisan's size as another weakness. Sesshomaru would be faster and more agile since he was smaller.
Hisan hunched his back, his black hair standing on end as his tail flipped back and forth dangerously. He then dug his claws into the sand and launched at Sesshomaru, his teeth bared and claws fully drawn out.
But while Hisan was in midair and approaching his opponent, Sesshomaru bared his own teeth and sunk his jaws into Hisan's front leg. The giant cat was forced to land on three legs, soon picking up his free paw to bat at Sesshomaru's eyes. But even after a few good hits, Sesshomaru still held tight, biting even harder with Hisan's constant attacks.
"Let go, damn it!" Hisan yelled, able to talk in his transformed state like you could.
But Sesshomaru kept his hold so Hisan resorted to raking his claws down the side of Sesshomaru's muzzle. However, it seemed Hisan had made another wrong move. Sesshomaru's mouth began to glow an eerie green and you instantly recognized the poison miasma.
Hisan, apparently noticing as well, began to furiously pull and pry his front leg away. Eventually, after pulling a good deal of skin off his arm, Hisan managed to get his paw but far too late.
Sesshomaru's poison had already begun to eat away at Hisan's flesh.
"Damn it. Curious how a dog demon has a poison that works so well against me." Hisan growled, his injured foreleg pulled up to his chest.
But even with this injury, Hisan seemed far from being out of the fight. You watched in nervous curiosity as Hisan's uninjured paw began to glow an ugly yellow color. With that glow came a strange yellow armor over his paw which stretched out to lengthen his already long claws. But the strange armor didn't stop at his paw. It proceeded up his leg, chest and eventually over most of his body. It provided a defensive plating over most of his body. Although it left his tail, sides and hind legs wide open.
"I was stupid to underestimate you at the beginning but I see now that if I don't go full out you may very well defeat me." Hisan stated, his feline face curling into a animalistic sneer. But this statement hardly affected Sesshomaru.
However, you became worried. Blood profusely dripped from the wounds on Sesshomaru's face and muzzle. It wasn't a bad wound but it was an injury Hisan inflicted upon him without resorting to his full strength. Now that Hisan wasn't holding back any, could Sesshomaru still defeat him?
(With Tsuki and Reikon)
"Come on! What could be taking Asani so much time? She said she would return after telling Sesshomaru we were ready!" Tsuki grouched, sitting at the entrance to a small, dank cave which echoed the sounds of the sea.
Reikon, who stood over her, looked back with a sigh.
"Maybe she's helping Sesshomaru out. Hisan isn't a push over, Tsuki. It'll take them some time." Reikon stated, his wings folded back but at the ready.
Tsuki sighed as well, knowing this already. But she had gotten a bad feeling. Something had gone wrong, she could tell that much for sure. But...why was this feeling so strong? She felt like someone was about to die...
"Reikon...go check on her for me, please? I have a really bad feeling." Tsuki finally stated and Reikon rolled his eyes but spread out his wings.
"Fine but be careful, Tsuki. If Hisan could throw you around that easy..."
"I know. I won't put myself in any unnecessary danger. Now, please go." She replied, crossing her arms.
With one last look, Reikon took off towards the beach, reaching the battlefield quickly. When things began to come into view, he was shocked at what his eyes saw.
Both Hisan and Sesshomaru had resorted to their true forms to fight, that much was expected. But Sesshomaru had large scratches down his face and muzzle which probably looked worse than they were. And Hisan also appeared to be injured on his foreleg but...he was coated in a yellowish armor.
Reikon watched for a while as the two demons nipped and bit at each other, only succeeding to make their opponents dodge or deflect the attack. But then his mind turned to his goal, finding Asani. He searched the battlefield, looking for her small form from high in the sky.
"No... Please, no." Reikon whispered under his breath at seeing Asani sprawled on the ground, a dark red substance melting into the sand around her.
Reikon quickly began to dive down to at least remove Asani from danger but was almost shot down from the air by a huge yellow blast of light shooting past him. He had to stop and look at the ongoing fight and pay attention or else lose his own life.
Hisan, with his mouth aglow, was shooting a powerful yellow beam of energy at Sesshomaru. From the looks of it, he succeeded in singeing a bit of Sesshomaru's hair and apparently had landed a hit to one of the dog demon's shoulders which was now burned heavily and bleeding. Yet Sesshomaru still kept fighting, despite that every hit he landed was deflected by Hisan's yellow armor.
"This is bad." Reikon murmured before returning his attention to Asani.
At the least he needed to get to her and make sure her wound wasn't fatal. So he slowly glided down, dodging any beam attacks from Hisan that went astray. But when Reikon had finally landed next to Asani, he was mortified by what he saw.
She had been struck straight through the heart. Something that would undoubtedly kill her.
"R-Reikon..." She mumbled, not looking away from the Hisan and Sesshomaru.
"Asani... What happened?!" He asked her, tearing away part of his clothing to put over her wound but it only caused her to cough heavily.
"Don't...bother. I'm dead any-"
"You're not dead! Asani, you've got to make it through this!" Reikon urged, also keeping an eye on the battle before them.
"I...I am if Sesshy...loses th-this battle." She winced but quickly opened her eyes, as if gluing them to the battle.
Reikon looked up at Sesshomaru and Hisan, biting his lip at seeing Hisan still had yet to receive anymore damage whereas Sesshomaru was littered with scratches, burns and was looking exhausted.
"He'll make it. He has to." Reikon tried to reassure her but deep inside himself he had heavy doubts.
"B-but what...if..." Reikon looked down at Asani, trying to understand what she was trying to say.
But his eyes were met with her now lifeless blue ones.
"Asani? Asani!" He called, shaking her and praying that she hadn't left. Not yet.
"Asani! Come on, wake up!" He yelled but her eyes remained open and soulless...
