Ghost Revenge (Sesshomaru) -41- END
And FINALLY the end of GR. It's only been what, forever? Well, in any case I'm happy that everyone stuck with this story. I'm sure the 39, 40 and this chapter have a few more mistakes than usual since I didn't proof read them but enjoy. And I hope that after you finish reading this story that you will continue to read my stories. ^_^I jolted upright as soon as sleep left me but quickly winced and fell back again.
I had no idea where I was and my eyes were still a bit blurry to be able to look around and figure out for myself. But by the sounds of the birds in the distance and the familiar scent of Sesshomaru, I guessed I was back home.
But that didn't matter now. I was too sore to even sit up properly! I barely managed to rub my eyes and see clearly.
"Ah, you're awake!"
I slowly looked over the side of the bed and saw Rin peaking through the doorway. I smiled at seeing her but then that brought to mind Kira and Kaosu who had been keeping watch over her.
Did the two of them come back with us or stay with Tsuki and Reikon on the mainland?
I was about to voice my question but Rin was too quick and ran into the room, swiftly coming up to my bedside with a saddened smile.
"What is it?" I asked her, worried that something had gone wrong.
"You and Sesshomaru-sama came back all beat up. And then the healer said that you wouldn't be up for a while." She explained. I sighed.
"You didn't have to worry about us, Rin." I mumbled, wondering if Trez had been the healer that had taken care of us.
"Yeah but... You took so long to wake up." Rin said, her big brown eyes showing slight fear. I was about to sit up to comfort her but soon found my entire head spinning and my stomach giving a nasty flip.
"Oh! The healer said you shouldn't get up!" Rin suddenly blurted out and I was lucky that, after I laid completely still for a while, my stomach eased up.
"But besides feeling sick, I feel perfectly fine." I joked as a knock resounded on the door.
Rin and I were happy to find Sesshomaru step into the room, a surprised Trez following shortly behind him.
"Good Morning Asani." Trez greeted as Sesshomaru joined Rin at my bedside.
"Morning." I replied, eager to find out why Trez seemed so shocked. But first, I wanted to know some answers.
"What happened to Kaosu and Kira?" I asked and Sesshomaru answered.
"Reikon and Tsuki decided they would take care of Kira. Kaosu said he would stay on the mainland for while."
I couldn't help but smile at that. I hadn't expected Reikon and Tsuki to take Kira in but then again, that little girl grew on you. And as for Kaosu, he would probably be wandering about and enjoying his freedom.
"Well that's good. So then...what's up?" I wondered and Trez made an attempt at hiding a smile.
"Trez has refused to tell me until you were up." Sesshomaru mentioned.
Now I was intensely curious.
"Ok, out with it." I demanded but found myself bombarded by a queasy stomach once again. This time, it didn't let up.
I immediately sat up and jumped out of the bed, bolting for the bathroom. I was barely past the door when anything that was left in my stomach found its way onto the tiled floor.
"Oh boy." I muttered, although I felt slightly better. In fact, it was Sesshomaru's and Rin's worried voice that reminded me that I wasn't supposed to be feeling too well.
"Asani, are you alright?"
I wiped my mouth and leaned against the doorframe, nodding.
"Yeah. I'm fine I think. But the floor isn't." I muttered and Trez motioned that it would be fine.
"Don't worry about it. I'll go get one of the maids to clean it up." She said, turning around and preparing to head back out the door. However, I had no idea why I had puked.
"Wait, Trez. Maybe you should have a look at me before you leave. The injuries I got couldn't have messed with my stomach that much."
Trez turned around with a grin.
"Oh that's right. You shouldn't worry about that. It's normal." She replied, her smile growing exponentially.
"Normal? For what?" I wondered, extremely curious now. Trez nodded, now looking a bit trouble.
"Yes well... How do I say this? Asani...you're with child."
Rin, who seemed to grasp the information quicker than Sesshomaru or I, bounced up and down and began hugging everyone. When the information that I was pregnant finally registered, I laid a hand on my lower stomach with wide eyes.
"I'm..."
Suddenly, the thought that Sesshomaru was the father came to mind and I looked over at him. I had to know what his reaction to this news was. After all, we hadn't even talked about kids.
Whatever fear I had instantly vanished when I saw Sesshomaru looking gently at me, although he seemed just as shocked from the information.
"With Lord Sesshomaru undoubtedly being the father, the child will become the heir to the western lands. And if I'm correct, will be born within six months, give or take." Trez explained.
I was still very much in shock but good news like this was hard not to smile at. In fact, I soon began to laugh.
"Guess my parents gave a second chance to not just me. I wonder if it'll be a boy or a girl?" I muttered, making my way back to the bed to sit down.
Sesshomaru laid a hand on my knee with a smile.
"We'll have to wait and see." He said and Rin, who had been holding onto Trez, giggled then ran out the door. Trez as well as myself suddenly blanched when we heard Rin began to yell out the good news as she ran down the hall.
"Is it such a wise idea for her to tell everyone like that?" I gaped but Sesshomaru didn't seemed bothered by it at all.
"Let her be. We have things to discuss." He said and it then dawned on me all the preparations that would have to get done.
"Heh, it's always one thing after another, isn't it?" I let my smile fade.
Trez, who seemed to sense it was a good time to leave, excused herself from the room. Not too long after, Sesshomaru pulled me into his lap and kissed me lightly on the neck.
"After haunting me as a ghost, you think having a child is an adventure?" He questioned. I couldn't help but smile.
"Sesshomaru, so long as you're involved, everything is an adventure."
Epilogue
=======================
Things eventually began to calm down, not only around the western castle but also around the western lands as well as the whole of Japan. According to rumors and a letter sent directly to Sesshomaru and myself, Kuru who still lived, had given up on anything to do with me and Sesshomaru. He had gotten word of Hisan being defeated and with his only daughter, Liana, now dead, he apparently knew better than to try anything further.
In the end, he showed his true form as a coward and was eventually over thrown and replaced by a lord who has now become a good friend of mine. As to where Kuru ended up...no one knew or really cared. With his mere name bringing laughs and chuckles to people, I had felt content with leaving my hate for him behind. After all, for a demon lord such as himself, there is no lower ground than being beaten and humiliated.
As for Naraku, he was defeated. With all the enemies he made from his endeavors of going after the jewel, it was no surprise that he would soon see his own downfall. But, that's a story for another time.
Although, soon after Naraku's defeat, Japan began to transform itself along with the rest of the world. Sesshomaru kept his role as the western lord among demons despite that the mortal government evolved. Amongst the chaos, however, we had lost the western castle. But Sesshomaru didn't seem to mind and neither did I. We rather enjoyed wandering around the western lands and seeing the new, beautiful sights that humans created.
And as time progressed, less and less demons were seen or heard of. We vanished in the memories of those who knew of us and then found our place in legends and myths. We had become anything but real. Although, the stronger of us survived through the times, seeing many decades and many wars come and go.
We survive even now, in the modern age. In a time that became even more strange than our own existence.
And you never know... You may have met a demon somewhere along your path. Perhaps even one who could tell an even more fantastic story than mine. But even if that's not the case, I have many more stories I can share. You need only find me on the path littered with the smell of cherry blossoms, next to a great dog demon who watches over his land and his family with a keen eye.
