I'm going to Camp Rock tomorrow
And so is the famous Shane Gray
He's supposed to be quite the jerk
but still... I've been freaking all day!
It's Mitchie's first time going
And she's filled with random fears
It's prettydumb of herthough...
she's not the one who fell off the pier!
I ended the little poem and laughed. Profound, right?
I'm obviously not the best poet in the world, but I do it for fun all the time. Mitchie, my sister, was afraid that she would fall into the water like me in my first year, (Actually ever single year I've been... It's pretty constant.) but I consoled her by pointing out that she wouldn't have Tammy Tyler in any of her classes to push her. Little did I know that her little sister, Tess Tyler, would be there... The excuse still worked for Mitchie though, as she didn't know either.
"MITCHIE!!!" I yelled, and she appeared at my door in seconds. "What?"
I jumped because I didn't expect her so fast and said, "Wow, that was quick... Well, anyways, are you ready?" She laughed and pulled her suitcase in to view, saying, "Yup. What about you?"
"I'm done. I guess we'll just wait for mom now."
I went down with her and we set our stuff by the door. I found my mom in the kitchen biting the end of her pen while playing Sudoku. "Hey mom, are we going to leave soon?"
She looked up and smiled. "Hi sweetie, um..." She looked at her watch. "Oh, it's already 9:00? I guess I got caught up in my games!" She laughed, and then said, "Okay, sweetie, I just have to finish loading the truck." I gave her a look and she said, "Don't worry, it'll only take a few minutes. Goodness, children these days, so impatient!" I laughed, rolling my eyes, and left.
When we finally got into the car, me and Mitchie begged my mom to put my Connect 3 CD in. "Okay," She said, "But I don't know what you see in that boy. He has everything except a clue." We both ignored that comment and started singing along. I didn't much like the stupid cookie-cutter pop-star stuff, but Shane's voice was beautiful, so he made it work. It was a two hour drive, and soon enough mom took the CD out, saying "That's enough of that," and turned it to CHOM, her favourite station. About an hour through the drive, we started to randomly slow down, and after I got out and checked, we found out that we had a flat tire. Of course.
It took another half hour to fix it, what with my mom's amazing auto skills, so Mitchie and I were pretty late getting there. When we did though, I brought Mitchie to her cabin and went to my own.
"Steph!!" My best friend in the whole world Amanda yelled, and ran up to hug me. I laughed and hugged back, saying, "You're crazy. Sorry I'm late... flat tires can do that to ya."
"S'okay... OH MY GOD I'm so excited I haven't seen you in like, forevss!"
I rolled my eyes, laughing, and said hello to the other girls as I unpacked. "So did you hear Shane Gray is teaching dance this year?" I heard my friend Alexis say, and I smiled, but turned away so they wouldn't see. No one knows I like him.
I straightened my face and looked back, saying, "Yeah. I hear he's a jerk."
"Yeah, but he's hot!"
"Looks aren't everything, Manda." I said to Amanda, and she rolled her eyes. "Oh, come on! You knowI know you know I know you think he's cute."
"You know what I mean!"
"Fine. He's cute. That's all you're getting out of me."
We had a little get together that night with all of the camp so that new people could make friends, and I went to check on Mitchie.
"Hey Steph. Steph, this is Caitlyn Geller. Caitlyn, this is my sister Stephanie." Caitlyn looked like a nice girl. "Hi, Caitlyn." "Hi!" She smiled and I smiled back politely.
Suddenly three girls came up to us, and I recognised one as Tammy Tyler's little sister. Ugh.
"Hi. I'm Tess Tyler."
"I know... Wow, I love your mom!"
"Of course you do."
I grimaced as I watched how rude the blonde twig was to my sister.
"Um... I'm Mitchie Torres."
One of the other girls asked something about our dad being a famous composer, and Mitchie said no. "What does he do?"
"He mans a hardware store." She said simply. Tess made a face and started to walk away.
"But my mom," Mitchie said, and Tess and her doplegangers turned back around. I raised my eyebrow at Mitchie, giving her a warning look, but she ignored me.
"She's... She's the-"
"She's the cook here at Camp Rock."
The girls made faces and turned back around.
Mitchie glared at me and I whispered, "It's for the best." She just rolled her eyes and Caitlyn said, "Well I think it's cool your mom is the cook. Trust me, you don't want to hang around with Tess anyways."
I was in the kitchen alone, cleaning up and getting ready to go to my cabin, when I heard the door open. "Hello?" I heard a man yell, and I straightened up. It was Shane Gray. The Shane Gray. "Yeah?" He looked me over and said, "Do you work here?" "Yes." He looked me over again and I could tell he was checking me out. "Wow." He said under his breath and I raised my eyebrow. He shook his head a bit and walked up to the counter, picking up a cupcake. "I'm Shane Gray, but even a kitchen help would know that." I ignored his cocky comment as he licked some of the icing off of his finger, and said, "Would you like something, or did you just come here to eat our food?"
He narrowed his eyes and said, "My manager sent over my allergy list, but since I couldn't even go near my breakfast this morning, one of you must have lost it."
"So have your manager send it over again." I said.
He blinked, and I just stared at him.
"Okay." I said back, and turned back to my work.
