I yawned, only to sneeze a second later. I was lying on the porch that surrounded my small house. I had been given it when I’d become a genin by the Third Hokage. It still hurt to know he’s dead; he was the only family I never really had.
I was an orphan, I am an orphan. When I was four I was found by a group of Leaf Ninja. They took me here, to Konoha. Ever since then I’ve been seen as the Third’s disciple, learning from him as I’d learned from no other. He was practically my life since I’d been found.
I was now a Jounin, the first my age for a very long time. I owed it all to Hiruzen Sarutobi (that’s the Third’s actual name. go to http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Hiruzen_Sarutobi if you don’t believe me). He was the reason I had been able to live.
I lay there, thinking of Hiruzen-sama, when a memory came to me, no matter how short.
“Hiru-san, Hiru-san! Lookie, I can make a shadow clone!” A young me cried as she ran into the Hokage’s office. The little me put her hands together to make the tiger hand sign with her left hand, then adjusting her right hand to make a cross. “Shadow Clone Jutsu!” Two more little me’s appeared in puffs of smoke.
‘I remember this.’ I said, though it was obviously unheard by Hiruzen and the seven year old me. ‘This is the day that marked my first year in Konoha, and my first day mastering a B-rank jutsu, even though I was still in the Academy.’
“Haha, good job Mia. That means I can give you this.” He took a Konoha Ninja Band from a draw in his desk, stood up, and tied it around my forehead.
“Yay! I’m a ninja now!” I exclaimed.
“Yes, and now that you are a ninja, I need you to take this home and do not open it until I fall into a sleep where I will never wake up, like your parents.” Hiruzen said.
The young me looked at him, utterly confused. I/She now held a large brown envelope in my little hands. “But I don’t want you to leave me.”
“Don’t worry; it will be a long while until then.” He said, smiling at me.
“Okay Hiru-san!” I smiled.
I sat up, the memory like dream now over. “That’s right; I need to see what Hiruzen-sama left me.” I stood up, walking into the house then into my living room. I had placed the envelope behind a great many of books on one of the bookshelves in here. I took out all the books now, placing them in a pile next to me, until I could pull the aged, dusty brown envelope out to look at it.
I opened it, not slowly, nor quickly, just at a normal envelope opening pace. Whence it was open, I pulled out two, hand written documents, both a single page. The one on top was a letter.
Dear Mia,
I know that by the time you read this, I will be dead, hopefully to protect my family, you, my friends, or our home. The other page in the envelope I had given you is the second part of my will, the part that I choose to entrust in you. I hope that you become happy with what it says, but make sure to show Asuma the will. This part of my will contains the things concerning you, Asuma, and the current new born grandson of mine, Konahamaru. I hope that you live a long and peace filled life, Mia, and I want you to know that you always were like a daughter to me.
Yours Truly,
Hiruzen Sarutobi
I allowed a single tear to roll down my check. It was his will that he had given me six years ago, though I never had actually guessed at what had been inside. I slipped the letter behind the second piece of paper.
There were only three paragraphs, the first was for me, the second for Asuma, and the third for Konahamaru. The third paragraph was shorter than the other two. I decided to only read my paragraph.
Mia, to you I have already left all my knowledge, but I have decided to leave you more. In Asuma’s house is a room full of scrolls. Each and ever one of those scrolls are for you, to learn and expand your knowledge. I know you will become a great Kunoichi that will protect the Village with all her heart. I have already given you other things, a village, a house, and a new beginning. Now, I will leave another thing to you, my title. On your next birthday, whenever that may be after my death, you will become the Hokage of Konoha.
I stood up and bolted to the door. In only a few minutes, I was at Asuma’s house, pounding on his door, none stop. When he finally opened the door, I almost pounded him in the chest with my fist.
“Woah Mia, what’s wrong?” He asked.
“What the hell is this all about?” I asked, pointing to the first paragraph. He slowly read the part of the will that was for me, at the end, his eyes went wide.
