Sasuke moved a few stray strands of hair from her face, revealing to him her beautiful face, somethingshe never let him see from the hoodie she covered it with.

He smiled slightly and traced his fingers down the side of her face, them somehow making their way towards her perfectly curved, rosy red lips.It had been a while since he last took the chance to kiss them.

Go to sleep and dream of me tonight,
Everything may not be perfect, but at least we tried

Her chest rose up and down with every breath she took.Sasuke had always been jealous at how well she slept.He hadn't had a single night of good sleep in years.

His onyx orbs traced her small, fragile figure, silently observing, silently taking in every possible inch of her.Someday he would claim that body for his own...that is, if she was willing to let him.

So tonight...

He chuckled to himself.She talked in her sleep, he just now remembered.Many nights he awoke beside her to find her either murmuring unknown words or talking about something so random he could start laughing on the spot.

Laughter...something the Uchiha himself rarely experienced...

Glancing over at the alarm clock beside her bed, he sighed.11:30 p.m.He would be taking his leave soon...

It was simple, really.Power was all he needed to gain revenge on his brother, Uchiha Itachi.He silently cursed that poor excuse of a sibling under his breath.

Mariko moaned in her sleep and rolled over, capturing him in her arms.To his surprise, she was still very much asleep.He loved the way she took his mind off of bad things.He loved everything about her, pretty much...

He closed his eyes and savored his last moment with the girl of his dreams.He had decided earlier on that power was his number one priority.Love wasn't part of his plan at all...

But Mariko found away into that cold, dark heart of his anyway.How she did, he hadn't the slightest clue, but all he knew was that he always wanted to be around her.Ever since they first met, he knew there was something different about her.

Sasuke: "Kakashi-sensei can I take seperate sessions?Its not doing me any good training with these idiots"

Mariko: "I'll take that as a compliment, Weasel jr."He glared at her.

Sasuke: "Don't.....call me that"Mariko smirked.

Mariko: "But Itachi's a weasel so why can't you-mhmmmmhmm"Mariko returned his glare and pried his hand away from her mouth.

Sasuke: "Don't talk about him....ever!"

Mariko: "Who?Do you mean.....Itachi?"

Sasuke: "YES!"She raised her eyebrows.

Mariko: "Oh so you like me talking about him now?"

Sasuke: "Say his name one more time...I dare you"She rolled her eyes to the side and put her hands behind her back.

Mariko: "I-ta-chi!"Sasuke activated Sharingan(no particular reason it just sounded cooleo:P) and slammed her up against a tree...hard.

Sasuke: "b*tch!"

Mariko: "Weasel jr!"

Sasuke: "whore!"

Mariko: "EMO GAY ROBOT!!"He rolled his eyes and dropped her to the ground.She wasn't worth it.

He sighed and opened his eyes.They had definitly come a long way since then.They had grown to understand each other...to care for each other...

Mariko was his best friend...

Mariko's grip around his waist was strong and firm.Good luck getting out of Konoha before sunrise...

Sasuke pulled her fingers up one by one, giving her no choice, but to release that death grip of hers.Even in her sleep she was strong...for a girl...

He exhaled and rose from her bed to walk over to her bedside table.He needed to write her a note...

But its too late now to say all the wonderful things that I thought of you,

Mariko's voice floated through his mind with every word he wrote.What would she say about all of this?He sighed for the third time that night and dropped his pen.Her name escaped his lips.

He just couldn't get over the fact that they would be apart for atleast two more years.He didn't even know how she would take this whole thing...

Maybe he was just doing this wrong.In all those romance novels she gave him, it said that last moments are spent happily and the couple agrees to the consequences of a long-term relationship.

But this wasn't a romance novel and he and Mariko weren't a couple...

So tonight...

Sasuke looked over his shoulder at the sleeping girl behind him.He had never been this confused in his life.In his mind, he knew what he had to do, but why was his heart holding him back?Is this what love feels like?

He folded the note and slipped it inbetween Mariko's fingers.Leaning over her, he brushed his lips over hers, killing himself inside for not being able to press down.He wanted her so bad, but yet...he couldn't work up the guts to wake her.

Sasuke: "Gomen nassai...Mariko-chan"

At long last, the clockon her nightstand reached midnight.It was time to leave.He had made his choice.

Things were falling apart, but there was one thing that could satisfy him until he could meet with Mariko again.

He crashed his lips to hers and wrapped his arms around her before burying his face in her chest.

Sasuke: "Gomen"

Mariko awoke instantly and looked around the room for the source of her awakening.The room was empty, but she knew that he had been there.

She carefully unfolded the note and smiled.

Gone out to exterminate the weasel.Don't wait up,

The breeze from her window blew her hair to the side, the window she shut only moments before she fell asleep.

She smiled to herself and slumped down in her bed before tucking the note in the corner of Team 7's picture.

Mariko: "See you in two years...Sasuke-kun"
