It's Not That Simple (A Future Trunks Story) 3
This is really comfy… You snuggled closer into the welcoming sanctuary of your bed. The soft pillows, the warm comforter, oh yeah…this was nice. I should get up now… Your body refused to move. Gohan and Trunks are probably waiting… Still no movement. Get up, get up, get up… Your eye cracked open and snapped back shut. …I guess I could stay here for a couple of minutes… You stayed under the covers for ten minutes before you slunked your way to your feet. You rub your half opened eyes with your good hand, attaching your sling not bothering to change at the moment. You found Bulma in the kitchen no one else. “Morning Bulma.” She smiled over her steaming coffee mug. “Morning dear, sleep well?” You nod as you grabbed a glass of orange juice. “Arm giving you any trouble.” You sat down. “Other than getting in the way when I’m dressing, it’s not that bad. It’s feeling a lot better.” Bulma smiled. “It’s getting better.” “That’s good to hear. A couple more weeks and you’re a free woman.” You grinned. “Yay!” You sipped your orange juice. “Hey, where’s Trunks?” “He and Gohan went to train a couple hours ago.” You practically jumped out of your seat. “THEY LEFT WITHOUT ME?! THOSE JERKS!!” Gohan said he was going to show you how to fly today, what the hell?! …Wait a minute, you turned to see a smiling Bulma. “You know they’ve been training?” Was it that obvious? “I wasn’t born yesterday, young lady.” Busted. “Though I was surprised you were in on it too?” Uh oh…! “Trunks I can understand, but you?” “Well not exactly, I’ve been watching. I haven’t been fighting.” You were gonna leave out the `but I will` part. "But Gohan did promise me he’d teach me how to fly today…” Your voice lessened. “But they went off without me…” “Oh, don’t worry.” Bulma patted your shoulder. “This just means you get to spend the day with me!” Bulma beamed happily, you grimaced slightly. How was that supposed to make you feel better? “Come on, I’m going to get a few things. Go get dressed and we’ll get going.” You nodded quietly and went back up the stairs. How could they leave without me? Those insensitive jerks. You pulled off your close mechanically. Now I have to go on errands, this isn’t fair at all. “Lula, do you need any help?” Bulma peered through the door. “You managing to get your clothes on ok?” You nodded dully. “I’m going to go start the car.” “Ok, I’m almost ready.” Bulma left and you pulled a clean shirt over your head. I’m going to those two have it when they get back! You finished dressing and ran down the stairs and outside where Bulma was waiting in a capsule car. “Come on, Lula. We’ve got a lot of stuff to get.” You climbed into the passengers seat. Your seatbelt wasn’t on before she took off. Bulma was in a hurry. “First we have to stop by the manufacturing company to grab a few materials.” “For the house?” Bulma shook her head. “Trunks and Gohan aren’t the only ones who’ve been keeping a secret.” She smiled ruefully to you. This brought up a few questions in your mind. “What are you up to?” Bulma pouted. “You make it sound like I’m planning to rob a bank.” You stared at her quizzically. “You never know, you are full of surprises, Bulma.” The pout turned into a smirk. “Well I’m glad you think so. It just so happens I’m going to build a time machine.” Your quizzical look turned into one of surprise. “What do you think?” “…I think I would have believed the bank robbery.” Bulma gave you a light scowl. “Now, really Lula.” You held up your hands in defense. “I’m sorry Bulma, I just don’t believe people can travel through time.” You rested your chin on your palm. Looking out or the car. “You only see it on TV in movies.” Bulma let out a huff. “Well, we’ll just see about that.” “Sure we will.” You sighed heavily, Bulma noticed. “You still down about the boys leaving without you?” You looked at her blankly. “A little bit.” Bulma shook her head. “A little bit, my butt.” You turned to her again. “I remember when Goku and the guys would leave me behind. I got angry too.” “Really?” She nodded. “Yep, but they we’re just trying to keep me out of harm’s way.” She smiled. “This one time I went with Krillin and Gohan to the planet Namek, and I ended up body swapping with a alien toad.” You double blinked. “…Wow.” Bulma nodded. “A toad…?” “Yep, turned out it was some bad guy who could jump from body to body.” “That must have been horrible?” “Yeah, but I got my body back and showed that toad whose boss.” She grinned proudly holding up a fist. You laughed a little. “So you see, they probably were just trying to keep you safe.” “From what?” You asked. “They just beat the tar out of each other and they stay clear from me. They even made a `safety zone`.” Bulma quirked an eyebrow at safety zone. “What could they be doing differently today?” A small flicker appeared in the black. It grew gradually. “Finally!” You hopped off the sill, running out of your room, down the stairs, through the hall and kitchen, and finally into the front yard. They were visible now. “You’ve guys have got some nerve! What were you thinking?! Leaving me behind like that! I should kick your--” They touched down, or more specifically, Trunks touched down. Gohan was unconsciously slumped against his back, beaten to hell. Trunks wasn’t looking to good either. “Lula…” “BULMA!!!” It didn’t take long for Bulma to run out from whatever she was doing. When she saw what you saw, she almost screamed herself. “Oh my gosh, what happened Trunks?!” “To be blunt, we got beat up.” Trunks winced. “Oh no, his arm!” His arm…? Upon a closer look and horror, Gohan’s left arm from the shoulder down…was gone. “Get him to a bed Trunks. Hurry!” Bulma rushed to call the doctor. With what ever way you could, you managed to help Trunks haul Gohan to the Capsule Corp. infirmary room. You gently laid him down before Bulma came rushing in and shooing you out of the room. The doctor came in a matter of minutes. Their first mistake was leaving the door open. “Now Gohan, this is going to hurt. Just hold still.” Gohan screamed bloody murder the next minute. You and Trunks stood out in the hall. Air thick with gloom. You grimace when Gohan screamed again. You glanced up at trunks. “Are you ok?” Dumb question, yeah. But you wanted to make sure it wasn’t worse than it appeared. Trunks nodded solemnly. “I’m fine, they’re only scratches.” You nod, thank god. “I was so sure we we’re gonna beat them.” Trunks’ fist clenched knuckle white tight. Your mouth twitched. “They just ganged up on us.” “You’re alive now, that’s all that matters.” Trunks looked up at you. “It could have been much worse than this even though I don’t really want to think about it. You could‘ve been killed.” You looked back at the open door. Gohan, your hero, the guy who saved your life, the guy you thought was unbeatable…was in that room, possibly fighting for his life. Now you hated the androids even more. “Lula…” Bulma came out with the doctor. “Thank you so much.” He nodded gave her a little note of instructions, and left. She sighed, like a weight had been lifted. You couldn’t wait anymore, you ran into the room. Gohan was laying motionless, bandaged from head to toe. A long gash over his left eye. “…Gohan…” Bulma and Trunks came in. Bulma patted your shoulder. “The doctor says he’ll be out for a while, but he should be fine.” Fine…his arm is gone, he’s been beaten to hell. How is this fine?! “That’s good.” Bulma smiled weakly. She picked up Gohan’s garments the doctor had removed and began folding them. You and Trunks sat on both sides of Gohan’s bed. Gohan… “Isn’t it a strange coincidence that you happen to run into Gohan while he was on his way to fight the androids at Super World.” Trunks turned to his mother. “Life’s funny that way sometimes.” Bulma turned around with a knowing look. “So you say, dear.” She cocked her head. “I know what you’re up to. I wasn’t born yesterday.” Trunks shot a stare at you. You didn’t look up from Gohan’s face. “She didn’t have to say anything, why do teenagers think their parents are so stupid?” Gohan groaned, he was waking up. All three of you sprang over him. “The doctor said he’d be out for a week!” Guess the doctor didn’t count on Gohan’s stubbornness. He started thrashing around in his bed. “Where are those damn androids?!” His wounds were still new, he might reopen them at this rate. You held him by his shoulders. “Gohan, calm down please!” He struggled for a few moments before he managed to cool down. He opened his eyes weakly. “Lula…hey.” He smiled weakly, you bit your lip, you didn’t want to cry in front of him. “Good to see you.” You forced yourself to smile. “Good to see you too.” Bulma shook her head. “I should have known. Just like your father, you never stay down for long.” Gohan smiled. He tried to get up, But you and Bulma said otherwise. “Like your father or not, you’re staying in bed.” “Training can wait a few days.” Despite his reluctance you wouldn’t let him up. “Please?” “…Alright.” Gohan slumped back. “How can I say no to a face like that?” You put out your lower lip in a full out pout, eyes glossy and sparkling. “You’re guess is as good as mine.” Bulma smirked, remembering that same face on one or two an occasion. “Well, I for one have had enough excitement for one day.” She grabbed Trunks by the ear. “And you young man, are going straight to bed.” “Ah mom, but--” “No butts, you nearly gave me a heart attack with that stunt you pulled.” Bulma started dragging him away. “You’re lucky I don’t ground you for the rest of your life.” You and Gohan laughed. “Night Bulma.” Bulma turned smiling. “Night dear, get some rest Gohan.” “Will do.” “Night Trunks.” “Night Lu--” Bulma yanked him out of the room with a pained yelp. “He’s done for.” “Oh yeah.” Gohan made himself more comfortable. “Sorry we had to skip your flying lessons, Lula.” You waved it off. “It’s ok, fighting the androids is more important than me defying gravity.” He laughed lightly. “We can call it off if it isn’t important.” “Now what fun would that be? I want to do it.” He grinned. “I made a mistake is all, a blunder. Don’t worry about it ok.” That’s Gohan for you, always thinking about other people besides himself. Here he was in bed, covered in bandages, and he was still talking about your flying lessons. DARN HIM for being so nice! You just couldn’t stay mad at him. “Ok.” You hovered over him and kissed his forehead. Just a quick peck on the head. Gohan was…mildly surprised. “What was that?” You were wondering the same thing. “That was a get well soon.” You beamed, a rosy pink on your cheeks. “…Better make that two.” You smiled warmly and kissed him again. He leaned against it slightly. “That’s nice.” Your face flushed as you pulled away. “I-I better let you get some sleep. Can’t get better without sleep.” You got up. “Alright, see you in the morning Lula.” You nodded. “Night.” “Night.” You turned off the light for him and practically ran up the stairs, your face on fire. Why did I do that?! You ran into your room, face still red. It was just a little kiss, nothing big…so why did it feel like you just made a huge plunge? You let out a breath you hadn’t realized you were holding in. What was going on? You quickly changed into your pajamas and crawled into bed. The familiar feeling of warm comfort welcomed you as your snuggled into the covers once again.
“What is taking those two so long?” It was well passed dark, and it was getting really late. Bulma’s errands were long, but obviously not long enough. She wanted you to help her carry in the heavy stuff, you tried but in the end your arm got you out of work. You sat by your bedroom window, looking intently at the sky for two certain demi-saiyan who were going to receive a serious ass chewing when they show up. “If they’re not here in the next five minute I swear--”
