30 Days with Prince Obnoxious, What Could Go Wrong? [Part 10]
Melissa's fourth day of work in Vallencia may be her last when the news is out. (A bit long, this part; bear with me ;P Thanks for rating and reading btw, though I do want to hear if you guys like the story or not o.O Enjoy~!)[Day 4]
Alexander Wellington couldn't sleep due to the overwhelming stress of the meeting that was held today. He didn't even want to fly all the way to New York. Suddenly, he wished that somebody blew up the east wing of the palace just so he could stay here.
After a moment of daydreaming, he sighed as he heard someone knocking at the door - er, more of a banging actually.
"Can you ask that old man to wait a few more damn minutes?! God!" he yelled.
"ALEX OPEN THE DOOR! IT'S ME!"
He got up from his bed. He knew that voice very well.
"HURRY UP!"
He yanked the door open and there he was - Jason Green Thomas.
"How did you get in here?" Alex asked.
"Get out of my way!" he yelled and collapsed on the floor, wheezing uncontrollably.
At the same time, Alex heard more footsteps coming towards his room, and somebody yelling something that sounded like, "STOP!"
Jason looked at Alex with his green eyes and said, "Well, you got your answer."
Alex sighed and walked out to the hallway. At least a dozen men stopped in their tracks when he raised up his hand lazily.
"You can't even chase a 20 year old git? Shame, you're all fired," he said in a bored-like voice and then slammed the door shut as soon as he got into his room.
"Very like you Jason, sneaking in the palace with a house of guard dogs and a tight security," he said, grinning.
"Yeah well, sadly enough I'm not here to chat much," Jason said, ruffling his brown hair. "Have you seen the news today?"
Alex couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"You ran all the way here, lost your energy, made 12 people lost their jobs, just to tell me if I have seen the news or not?" he said. "That's why they invented a cellphone Jaso-"
"No, no! Look!" Jason interrupted and turned on the news.
Alex stared at the screen, the color draining out of his face, his blood boiling with anger.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Oh my God Kate! No, no, no! This couldn't be happening!"
"International," Kate said.
"What?" I said, my eyes still glued to the paper, my hands were sweaty that it caused the ink of the newspaper to smear.
"This piece of news here-" she paused, pointing to newspaper, "-is travelling all over the world right now."
My jaws dropped. My eyes were still glued to the headlines, written in big, bold letters - as if it's taunting me or something.
Babysitter Threw a Hissy Fit Towards the Prince of Vallencia
Well, that explains the flash last night. It was an effing' camera!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alex was practically jumping down the stairs at a fast speed, that it made Jason whine things like, "Aleeeeeex, don't be so damn pissed off," or "Slow down" and falling flat on his face after he said those words.
"WINTERS!"
"YOUR HIGHNESS!"
"ALEXANDER!"
"Doesn't anyone notice that Jason is here?" Jason said, pulling his best puppy-dog eyes towards the crowd.
"Alexander," his father stated again in a much softer tone, ignoring Jason, "That meeting in New York is canceled."
Well, at least he gets what he wants.
"Now, care to explain what-" he said calmly at first, but then his face twisted with anger, his fist scrunching up the newspaper and throwing it towards Alex, "-this is?!"
"Your majesty, I can explain!" Melissa wailed childishly.
"Winters!" Alexander barked, throwing her a threatening glare.
"So THIS is the little tramp who started all of this mess?!" his father boomed loudly, scaring the hell out of whoever was passing-by. Melissa jumped a bit.
"You're fired!"
Then came in the Queen in her strapless gold dress.
"Be reasonable dear," she started in a strict voice that made everyone shut up, "she's doing a great job here taking care of dear Emily. Clearly our son here had been teasing her or throwing insults at her to make her that angry!"
Typical of her mother, Alex thought.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first time I met the King face-to-face would probably be the end of my ridiculously high-paying job as a babysitter.
And I would walk out of here gracefully (and trembling) if I want to. But what about Emily? To be honest, she was getting attached to me each passing day. I want to curse out profanities out loud, but the king would probably hang me the next minute.
Thank god the Quee- er, Faye was siding with me, or else I would have been sacked. Heck, I would have been BEYOND sacked!
Now, I'm sitting at the edge of the fountain, my heart still beating rapidly.
If you want to rip out of my chest there, heart, then do it! I thought angrily. I was dying in my own sea of humiliation. I clasped a hand over my chest where I can feel the beating of my heart.
"You okay?" Alex asked me.
"Do I look like I am?" I snapped, but it sounded more like a whisper. I never knew a person could frighten the hell out of me till the king of Vallencia yelled at me like he was...I don't know...King Kong maybe?
It was so cold I could see my own breath.
"I should get Emily now," I said through gritted teeth. But it still came out as a whisper. Damn my voice box!
But before I could go on about how stupid my voice box, Alexander put his warm arm around me and then grinned slyly.
"I know that feeling. I use to get that feeling all the time when I was a kid," he whispered in my ear. I blushed a tad. The guy was so warm, I was almost tempted to cuddle him. Well, almost.
"It would wore off soon, I promise."
And the next 40 minutes, we sat there side by side, his arm was still holding me almost protectively. We had to leave later because none of us wants to suffer hypothermia.
As I read a book to Emily in the library, I curled up into a ball.
I still feel the warmth, and that made me blush so hard, Emily cried because she thought I was turning into a tomato!
