[Day 27]

I was so disappointed that night that I didn't come out of my room the next morning till Emily knock on the door, carrying the white bunny plush. I just had to invite her in because I have no mood to go out. Not the best way to spend the last day in Paris, I know.

But as soon as I stepped out of Vallencia Airport, I noticed that it had a major change. Well, for starters, the weather is colder than before - however that's possible.

An secondly, many people were on the streets, arranging something on the street lights, dusting the street, having stalls open in one of the streets to the vast Zen-like garden of Vallencia. Was there something big happening? Surely all of this are not for welcoming the royal family back right?

My mother called earlier, saying a quick, late 'Merry Christmas' to me. I broke the news about New York to her. She didn't take it too well, but my father did. He said it's about time I'd become an independent woman.

Parents.

"Melissa!" Kate exclaimed loudly as soon as I walked out of my room. She pulled me into a tight hug before giving me my gift, which is a very cute ribbon brooch with a diamond on it. I thanked her for it.

"Now about you and his highness..."

"Can we talk about something else please?" I groaned.

"But-"

"Please!"

"Oh fine," Kate replied, a tad disappointed.

"Hey Kate. What's up with Vallencia today? There were adding stalls from Hughburst Street all the way to the Zen garden thingy," I said, my arms flailing around.

"It's tradition. When the snow's finally here, we're having a festival. There's a history behind it, I forgot what. I don't care much about the history though, because at this festival there are so many food, it's like my annual heaven."

"Mmm, food," I said dreamily.

"The first snow will start to fall on 30th, usually," she said. "If it's early, then the festival will start early too."

I nodded. Festival eh?

"Jason?" I said, dumbfounded as in why he was visiting so late at night.

"Hey," he smiled. "I'm sorry to disturb your sleep, but I just had to see you one last time before the flight."

My heart skipped a beat.

"The flight? What?"

"I'm going to Beijing for a business trip Mel...for a month. By then, you're already off to...er...did you take Nick's offer?"

I nodded, speechless.

"Uh, I'm not visiting my hometown. Right after I'm done with this job, I'm going straight ahead to Manhattan. My parents already agreed that I would go back home at least once for every two weeks," I explained, and then frowned. "When will you leave?"

"The first thing in the morning tomorrow," he said.

"But..that means you won't be seeing me off from the airport!"

He sighed and nodded. "I'm very sorry Mel, but this is a really big deal and if I don't take it, my father will personally slit my throat," he said in a joking manner. But it didn't help.

"Oh," I said, bitting my bottom lip before throwing my arms around him.

Before I knew it, I was sobbing.

"Damn, don't be like that Mel. It's not like it's the end of the world, right?"

"I know but...but I'll miss you so damn frightfully much Jason," I said, wiping my tears away on his shoulder. His hand was on the small part on my back, patting me softly.

"I know...I'll miss you too," he said gently. "But business is business Melissa, and I have to go."

"Right," I said promptly before releasing him from my hug.

He grinned at me and ruffled my hair. "Take care kid, if I'm free, I'll surely visit you in the states to see if you're still breathing or not," he said playfully. I punched his arm.

"I have to go now, early day tomorrow. And the guards only let me visit for a short amount of time this time. See you whenever Mel," he said, almost too giddily. That bastard. Doesn't he feels at least a bit sad about this? Or am I just overreacting again?

Must be that I'm overreacting again.

"Goodnight J," I said and watched him walk away, ruffling his own brown hair.

Since I was awake that night, I packed a bit of my stuff that's not really important into one of my bag.
