I laughed. "Nice to meet you, Daniel. I'm Melissa," I said, in a somewhat relief.

Daniel Reed Williams. At his first impression, I thought he's this kind of guy who works all day and all night non-stop and thus, gets cranky a bit more often than a PMSing woman. Actually...I have no idea why but every man who wears a custom-tailored suit gave me the same impression.

But when I told him that Nick couldn't make it to their appointment today due to some unexpected call from his hometown - which got me a tad worried myself. What the hell was so important that causes Nick to have a temper tantrum with his father on the phone for almost an hour?

Seriously, when Nick is angry, he's very scary.

When he went out of his office, he tugged on his tied and announced to me to meet the man of the name Daniel Williams and tell him personally that Nick can't make it to their little appointment. Even though Nick sounded very calm - it's still eerie.

On why Nick asked me to meet him personally, I've no idea. Daniel must be a close friend of somesort or something.

"Trouble at hometown hm?" Daniel said thoughtfully. I nodded.

"So who called him this time? His father or mother?" Daniel said, almost in a teasing manner. I stopped dead in my tracks.

"You know?"

"Of course I do."

Nick didn't like to be in the spotlight much. And in New York, only a few handful of people know that he's a member of the royal family - Prince Nicholas Wellington.

"His father," I answered after a while. Daniel laughed. "Poor kid. Come on-" he said, swinging his arms around me in a casual manner, "-let's get you a cup of coffee. Nick can get a bit too pissed off when getting a call from his father...and I'm assuming that you have quite a shock out of it eh?"

Wow. He's good. I grinned sheepishly.

"Oh well, that's everyday work to me, got to get use to it," I replied promptly and he guided me to the nearest coffee shop.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The mocha tingled my tongue suddenly. Mmm, coffee.

"Muffins, Melissa?" Daniel said, waving that piece of heaven in front of me when he finally reached the table.

I grinned so wide Daniel thought there was something funny going on behind the counter.

"I'm sorry, I just love these stuff," I said, grabbing one.

Then my cellphone went off. I grimaced. Who the hell would interrupt me when I was about to take a bite out of this muffin?!

"Melissa," the person on the other line cooed. I blushed. Oh well, I can deal with him interrupting me anytime.

"Alex, um, I'm in the middle of something right now..." I trailed off, glancing towards Daniel. I find it rude to answer phones on meetings like these - formal or informal.

"What? Eating muffins again?" Alex said mockingly. I jumped a bit and placed the muffin down on a small plate. How did he know?!

"No," I told him. "Thanks to your brother, I have to call off 3 dozens meetings for the rest of the week!" I said.

"...He's that busy?"

"Why did you called Alex?" I snapped, getting up and shooting a 'I'm-so-sorry-but-I-have-got-to-take-this-call' towards Daniel. He smiled and nodded at me. I went outside of the coffee shop.

"We've got a big problem...I might have hinted something about us towards my parents,"

I strangled out a strained laugh. "They didn't take it well hm?"

"No," he replied, somewhat tense. After that I heard something shattering on the background, followed by a series of bellowing.

"You've no idea how I miss you...yeah, especially right now," he said in the same tense manner, more to himself than me.

I smiled a tad. I know what he meant. In situation like that, he would probably drag me away to some place to get away from his deranged family. But since I'm in New York...

Life's probably hell-ish for him.

"I'm sorry to hear that..." I said.

"Sorry to hear that I miss you?" he said, confused. I laughed. "No, whatever is going on the background. Is Nick okay?"

"I don't think so," Alex told me, with a hint of amusement in his voice. That sadistic bastard.

"Alex, I really need to go," I said, glancing towards Daniel inside the coffee shop, who was starting to fiddle with his Blackberry.

"Right. I'll meet you on next Monday," he said. I blushed because part of me wanted to jump and say, 'Yay!'.

"Alright then!" I said excitedly. Then he hung up after another shattering sound. I flipped my phone close.

How ever can I fall in love with somebody who - in the past - had treated me so badly? They have a name for this you know: Stockholm Syndrome.

But then again, I learned that in order to be compassionate and caring without showing it too much, he would transfer the compassionate and caring personality into his rude one. Ego, that is. When I started working at Vallencia, he does seem to be very rude to me. But as time goes by, his rude behavior slowly turn into something...a bit softer.

All of those time I spent with him really got me thinking: I really do love him do I?

"Alex? As in Alexander Wellington?" Daniel said, his face screaming in amusement. I nodded as I sat down.

"So...what's your relationship with him?" Daniel asked curiously. I was taken aback by the question.

"I work in the castle once as Emily's babysitter, so..." I trailed off. He nodded and said, "Any idea when I can meet Nick? Because the matter at hand is really important," he said, a bit sternly. But he smiled anyway.

"I've no idea. It sounds like a long fight...so I think you have to arrange it personally with him," I said.

We talked about pointless things for a while. And I found out that he's really pleasant to be with.

"Are you free next Monday?" Daniel suddenly asked. My eyes looked questioningly at him. "Are you asking me out Daniel?" I said teasingly. He laughed. "Probably. A casual hanging out if you must," he said.

Without thinking, I agreed to his offer - completely forgetting that Alex was supposed to meet me this Monday too.
