"Hey, you sure you can skate okay with that arm?" Bam asked, I nodded my head.
"It’s fully cast, so if I happen to fall, sure my arm might get sour, but it won’t hurt the bone."
"What about your face? Its still has the bandages all over it..."
"Ill be fine Bam Bam, If it will make you feel better, ill go get my helmet-"
"Nah, its okay, just don’t get hurt anymore. Its getting old." I giggled a little as we walked into the vurtualy-empty-except-for-a-few-skaters-skatepark.
"Holy crap! This place is huge!" Q-ball speculated. The place was fairly big, they had a full concrete bowl on the left, a mega ramp on the opposite wall from the entrance, spinners, mini-ramps, half pipes, the whole shah-bang.
"Pretty amazing, right? Its my favorite and safest place to skate. I’ve been coming here every week for about a month." I said.
"How the fuck come you've never brought me here, Autumn?" Bam asked, obviously a little pissed about the fact that I’ve been hiding one of the best parks in PA from him.
"I figured you’d have heard of it already." I slyly shrugged and grabbed my skateboard. I started heading off to the bowl.
"Hey, wait!" Jimmy caught my attention," I thought you were going to teach us? I mean, I can stand on a board, but not go down one of those!" He pointed at the mega ramp, and I sighed. He was right, BAM did offer them free skate lessons.
"Fine, where does Baby Pop wanna start?" He smiled and looked over to one of the mini-ramps.
"That," he said, "Looks like fun." I sighed again and walked with him over to the ramps with Jimmy and Q-ball fallowing. We ended up going on the vert ramp instead. I wasn’t ganna baby them, they were older that me.
"Hey, I’m going over to the pyramid ramp." Bam said as he walked away, leaving me with Jimmy and Q-ball.
"So, what do you guys wanna do first? Do you now how to drop in?" I asked, getting my board ready for a drop in.
"Not really, I’ve seen people do it on TV, but never tried it myself. I can barley stand on a skateboard." Jimmy said.
"Ever even been near a ramp?" They shook their heads, and I sighed and grabbed my temples. After all, I was still a little hung-over,” Fine, I guess we start on the mini-ramp then." We got down from the vert and headed over to a blue mini-ramp. I jumped up with ease, and so did Jimmy and Q-ball.
"Alright," I said, placing my foot on the nose of the board, "Stand at the edge with you foot like this." They looked at each other, "Jimmy you should go first." He put his helmet on and mimicked my stance, "Alright, the first rule is, your head needs to be completely parallel to the ramp itself. Which means, if you lean too far forward, you fall forward. You lean too far back, you fall backwards." They nodded, both seemingly interested, "Watch me do it first, then you try." I leaned forward and dropped in, the ramp was short, so all I did was go up, turn around, and come back to Jimmy and Q-ball, "Your turn Jimmy." He leaned in and prepared to go. He pushed his foot on the bolts, and went down. He barley got halfway before he fell back and hit his neck on the ramps edge.
"Yo, you alright Jimbo?" Q-ball asked has we helped him up. He rubbed his neck and smiled weakly.
"I’m good, my back just hurts. I think I should sit down for a bit." Q-ball nodded and said,
"Alright, well, I’m ganna go over to where Bam is skating. It looks a lot more easier over there. Hope your okay, Jimbo." Q-ball grabbed his board and ran off to Bam. Bam greeted him, and showed him some moves. Jimmy had already gotten up and was walking over to some benches placed on the wall. I walked after him, and sat down next to him.
"You alright?" He nodded and took his helmet off.
"Fuck, that hurt. Remind me never to do that again." We both laughed a little, and sat in silence for a few minutes afterwards. Finally Jimmy spoke.
"So...ACE, How did you meet bam?" He asked looking at me.
"Uh...at school, I guess." I lied to him. I did have Bam in most of my classes, but that’s not how I met him.
"That’s cool, so where do you live?"
"With Bam."
"Really," He asked, "Why?"
"Uh...well a lot of us live at Bams place...you know. Were all just a bunch of crazy room-mates, plus Bam's parents." I laughed and he smiled.
"How long have been living in West-Chester?" He asked.
"About 9 years."
"Where were you born?"
"A small town in California."
"Oh, that’s cool. I like California. I’ve always wanted a house there. I think the Band is going there in the next few months.
"Really? How long are you guys in West Chester?"
"Four weeks," He said, " then were going to the west for some shows. And then were coming back to PA for a while,"
"So you guys are on tour?" I asked.
"Nah, were only ganna be there for like three weeks. A real tour would be four months long, at least." I smiled a little.
"That sounds fun, you guys must love going around the world."
"Not really. Home is were the heart is, ya know? Not to mention seeing each other every day kills us."
"How so?"
"You know, after you spend enough time with someone, every little thing they do starts pissing you off." He had a point, all the guys I lived with I wanted to choke almost every day.
"I love getting out of PA though, I do for some Demos and competitions."
"That’s cool, maybe you could tour with us some time."
"Right, and I’m married to Madonna." We both laughed a little.
"So what’s your orientation?" He asked. Man he was really strait-forward, wasn’t he?
"Huh?"
"You know, do you prefer, chicks or guys, or both?"
"Oh, well I prefer guys, but you can never be sure when it comes to love." He gave me one of the most heart-melting smiles ever. There was something about his eyes, something in them, but I couldn’t tell what. All I know is that it made me blush a little. Maybe he was a sweet guy after all.
"So when do you turn 18?" Well now, that question didn’t catch me off-guard at all.
"18? Uh, lemme see," I counted that days in my head and came up with the answer, "3 months? About 11 weeks?"
"Oh..." His face seemed to fall a little.
"So are you a virgin?" Never mind about the 'sweet' thing.
"I really don’t think that’s any of your business, but uh...yeah, I am." His smile fell back on his face, "Why you ask?"
"Just curious, that’s all." Uh-huh, I’m sure he was. He patted my leg and stood up quickly, "Well now, I think it’s about time to teach ol’ Jimbo here how to skateboard, don’t you?"
