Somebody's's build is one of the oldest life insurance risk characteristics. Starting back in the early 1900's is when people who were described as being overweight were offered higher rated offers from the life carriers. People who are deemed overweight or having build issues statistically have and increased risk for Coronary Heart disease, Diabetes, Hypertension and Hyperlipidemia.
Often the way life insurance corporations underwriters view weight reduction is by thinking back over the last year to 12 month's or so and seeing quite how much weight has been lost. Once that number has been determined they may sometimes add back half the the weight reduction back in and see where you fit into the underwriting guideline manual. All the carriers have their own suggestions and some give credits in the underwriting process that could help you get an improved rate. It's best to communicate with your broker and agent to make sure they know exaclty how much you have lost and why you lost the weight. If there's serious weight reduction concerned it's typically because of to a weith loss surgery such as lap band, gastryic bypass or stomach stapling.
Providing this information to your Life Insurance Broker will greatly expedite the process on at least finding out what rate class you could possibly obtain.
