Zithromax is an antibiotic related to erythromycin. It is prescribed for adults to treat certain mild to moderate skin infections; upper and lower respiratory tract infections, including pharyngitis (strep throat), tonsillitis, sinus infections, worsening of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and pneumonia; sexually transmitted infections of the cervix or urinary tract; and genital ulcer disease in men. In children, Zithromax is used to treat middle ear infection, pneumonia, tonsillitis, and strep throat.
Zithromax capsules must be taken on an empty stomach. Take the capsule at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating a meal. Zithromax tablets or powder oral suspension may be taken with or without food. Take the tablet or oral suspension with food if the medicine upsets your stomach. Shake the oral suspension (liquid) well just before you measure a dose. To be sure you get the correct dose, measure the liquid with a marked measuring spoon or medicine cup, not with a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one. Take this medication for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor. Your symptoms may get better before the infection is completely treated. Zithromax will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu. Store this medication at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Throw away any unused liquid medicine after 10 days.

The idea of "delaying antibiotic treatment"
Some kids really need antibiotics, but most do not. Recent study has shown that two-thirds of the antibiotic prescriptions written to parents urged to delay treatment never got filled. The idea of delaying antibiotic treatment for ear infections is not new. The strategy is catching on in Europe, and the American Academy of Pediatrics says 80% of children whose ear infections are not treated immediately with antibiotics get better on their own.
Far too often people get antibiotics for earaches. Many supposed ear infections aren't ear infections at all, just earaches. Ear infections have fluid, by definition. Careless use of antibiotics can also lead to more resistant bacteria in the environment, making common infections harder to treat in everyone.
The more partners you have, the more likely you are to be infected, although you can be infected by one contact. An infection can prevent pregnancy by blocking the uterine tubes. It can damage sperm, so they can't swim toward the egg, and it can cause miscarriage, premature birth or low birth weight. Infected people may have burning on urination, discomfort when the bladder is full or an urgency to void. Women may have only spotting between periods. Or there may be no symptoms at all.
When the air cavities with in the nasal passage gets inflamed such situation is known as Sinusitis. Sinusitis is one of the most widespread conditions that causes problem to people throughout their lives. It mainly arises when environmental pollutions bother the nasal passages. Sinusitis can also be due to other irritants irritants, such as chemicals or the over use of the nasal sprays. Sinusitis can also be caused by virus or bacterial infection. Sinus infection can be due to anything that obstructs with airflow into the sinuses and the drainage of mucous out of the sinuses.
What is Post Nasal Drip?
Scientifically speaking, post nasal drip happens when excessive mucus appears because of the sinuses. It can accumulate in the throat or at the back of your nose and can be caused by sinusitis (as already mentioned), rhinitis or laryngopharyngeal acid reflux. Allergies can also trigger it or make it worse, no matter the season of the year when it appears.
The term post nasal drip is not used that much by some of the doctors because it is considered to be obsolete. Nowadays, it is also known as the Chronic Upper Airway Cough Syndrome. In any case, the term post nasal drip is still quite common in medical literature.
There are different possible symptoms to take into account when diagnosing post nasal drips. The most common ones are the need to constantly swallow and/or spit, congestions in the sinus and nasal passages, tickling sensation in the throat, crystals found in the tonsils (they are in most cases white or yellow), chronic sore throat, coughing, nausea (caused by mucus accumulating in the stomach) and vomiting (caused by the same reason as nausea). Bad breath is also a very common symptom of post nasal drip.
