I walked to the training field, seeing everyone there again. I was late again.
"Aneko..." Gai said. I faced him and nodded.
"Yeah?" I asked. Like I cared. Of course I was late! I had to rush all over the village to try and find a babysitter for Miki. Ended up being Naruto...
"Do you have an excuse this time or are you just going to go down without an argument?" he asked.
"I had to find Miki a babysitter. I had to settle for Naruto," I muttered.
"Aneko, why don't you just give up? Using your sister is not a good habit," he said. I looked up at him, my face still stained from fresh tears this morning.
"Fine, do whatever. I'm sick of you not believing me anyway," I said.
"You are to skip every mission we have until May," he said. My heart skipped. With that...I would probably have to get another job.
"Like hell I will!" I yelled. "I can't do that! I'll lose everything I just bought while I was here! Miki won't have bed to sleep on anymore!"
"Don't be so drastic," he said.
"Why don't you try having three jobs, taking care of a five-year-old, and having the person you love-" I cut myself off. Everyone was looking at me expectedly, except Neji. He just looked down, knowing I was still bothered by the whole process. I growled. "If I can't go to missions, then why would I bother coming to training?!"
"...Aneko...what were you about to say?" Tenten asked the question everyone was wondering.
"Nothing! It doesn't involve you anyway," I said.
"Aneko! You're my best friend, tell me!" she yelled.
"Just get off me, will you?!" I screamed, pushing past her and sitting by the tree. I sighed and closed my eyes, facing the sky.
"Let's start our laps," Gai said. We all stood and did our laps, no one looking at me the whole time minus a few worried glances from Neji that no one noticed.
Later that night, I knocked on Neji's window. His slender fingers slipped it up and he looked at my surprised. "What are you doing here?" he whispered to me. I kissed him from the other side of the window.
"Neji, I have to talk to you," I whispered back, slipping in the window and sliding it down. We both sat on his bed, staring at each other. "Neji... I really don't want you to leave me. I'll die without you." I kept my voice lower than usual. He put his hand on my cheek and shook his head.
"I'm not leaving you. You'll come with me someday," he said.
"Neji," I groaned. I hugged him. It was silent for a while after that. I just stayed in his arms for a while.
"You wanna listen to music?" he asked. I shrugged and he kicked it with his foot, not moving from his spot. It immediately started playing. I snuggled close to his chest and felt like crying. I focused on the music instead. Then, I noticed how terribly this song fit in from his point of view.
So Contagious by Acceptance
Oh no, this couldn't be more unexpected
And I can tell I've been movin' in so slow
Don't let it throw you off too far
'Cause I'll be running right behind you
Could this be out of line? (Could this be out of line?)
To say you're the only one breaking me down like this
You're the only one I would take a shot on
Keep me hanging on so contagiously
Oohhh, when I'm around you I'm predictable
'Cause I believe in lovin' you at first sight
I know it's crazy but I'm hopin' to
To take a hold of you
Could this be out of line? (Could this be out of line?)
To say you're the only one breaking me down like this
You're the only one I would take a shot on
Keep me hanging on so contagiously
Oh you're everything I'm wanting
Come to think of it, I'm aching
On account of my transgression
Will you welcome this confession?
Could this be out of line? (Could this be out of line?)
To say you're the only one breaking me down like this
You're the only one I would take a shot on
Keep me hanging on so contagiously
Could this be out of line? (Could this be out of line?)
To say you're the only one breaking me down like this
You're the only one I would take a shot on
Keep me hanging on so contagiously

We looked at each other. "It had to be that song?" I whispered.
"Sorry." I looked down at his stomach. I felt tears starting to come down as I started thinking of never being with him again. "Don't start crying," he whispered gently, wiping the tears away. I kept crying, so he gave up and held me close. I fell asleep but was woken later by Neji telling me I should go home and he'd see me tomorrow, so I left out the window... The window I would probably never climb back through.
