I opened the door to see Lee with Naruto. They smiled at me. They came in and I closed the door. Miki sat up on the couch and rubbed her eyes when Naruto yelled, 'let's do this.' I hit him on the back of the head and sat by Miki. "Miki, it's ok. Just go back to sleep." I smiled as she stared blankly at me.
"Miki don't wanna. Miki wanna play!" she yelled, smiling.
"Miki's not gonna play tomorrow, if she doesn't go to sleep now," I told her. She whined.
"But Miki wanna play! Miki wanna play! Miki-" I covered her mouth.
"Miki, go to sleep. Now," I ordered, letting go of her mouth. "We'll be in my room."
"No!" she yelled. "Big Sister didn't say please!" I sighed.
"Miki, please." She shook her head fiercely, stood up, and starting running around the room in protest. I put my hands over my eyes, holding back tears.
"Miki wanna play. Miki wanna play. Miki wanna PLAY!!!" she screamed. I stood up, covered her mouth again, and sighed once again.
"Ok, Miki. Just please be quiet," I said.
"Miki wanna be LOUD!!!" she screamed, laughing aftewards. She started jumping around again. I let one tear down, as I noticed Naruto and Lee holding back laughs.
"Miki-san, maybe you should go to sleep," Lee said. Miki stopped and looked at him. She blushed slightly. Miki looked down.
"Only if you answer this. Why are all of you here?" she asked.
"We're talking, Miki." My voice had cracked slightly. She nodded and laid back down on her couch, sighing. I kissed her forehead. "Love you, Miki."
"Miki loves you too," she muttered, upset over all this.
We all went into my room and sat on the floor. I had a lot of explaining to do to Naruto. Lucky I had Lee...
After I had explained to Naruto - very simply - he had finally realized what I was hinting at the whole time."You mean... You and Neji dated?!" I sighed.
"Yeah," I muttered. His jaw dropped.
"Why did you keep it secret from everyone?!"
"Naruto-kun, you have to understand how they would be treated if everyone knew. She did tell you about what had happened the one night Hiashi-sama found the both of them..." I winced slightly, remembering Neji's calm face. I missed him so much, so much that I hadn't stopped thinking of all our meetings - every single one of them.
"Yeah, well who cares? You two would've been happy - outside during daylight!" Naruto exclaimed.
"We just weren't ready for everyone to start thinking down on us," I muttered. "It would make him look so bad - being the 'genius' and then dating some dirt girl. That just isn't how people want it."
"You aren't just some dirt girl," Naruto said. I took a breath. Yeah, I wasn't. I was the--
"Aneko, I am really sorry about all of this," Lee said. I nodded.
"Yeah, me too." I let the breath out. "Hey, you guys wanna sleep over?"
"Sure!" Naruto yelled happily. Lee just smiled and nodded.
"If that is ok," he said. I nodded and stood up. They both stood up with me.
"I'm gonna go get some sleepin' clothes," Naruto said, then ran off. Lee smiled.
"I am going to get a sleeping bag. Maybe two, if Naruto forgets." I nodded as he walked out the door.
I walked to the window and pushed it open, looking up at the starry sky. I gasped and held my mouth.
Neji...
He was still alive.
I knew it. I just did.
I felt him somehow, somewhere. But still in the village.
The prison? I don't know, but he's still alive.
I stared at the sky, then noticed something different. My eyes widened.
Suddenly, I heard my room door open and shut. I turned and saw Lee and Naruto. I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. "What's wrong, Aneko-chan? You look...scared." I shook my head, then sat on my chair. It's tomorrow... Damn.
"Are you ok?" Lee asked, setting aside his things and sitting on the arm of the chair.
"No," I muttered. "I'm not ok, but when have I been?"
"C'mon, what's wrong?" Naruto asked, sitting on the floor in front of me.
"Tomorrow," I muttered. "It's just gonna be a long day. Long and hard."
"Why do you say that?" I shook my head.
"You'll see," I finished. I didn't want to tell them I still felt Neji somewhere. They'd probably say I was crazy or something. Who knows...maybe I was. Crazy for him.
