I want to thank Landon for helping me to treat my wound last night, so I decided to make breakfast for him today. When he came out of his room, he looked awful, as if he didn't sleep all night.

"What do you want for breakfast Landon?"

"Cyanide."

My cheerful smile turned into a concerned frown. "I'll just assume your the 'eggs and bacon' kind of guy," I said, searching for the pan. "Not really," he replied. I stopped searching around. "I prefer cereal more."

That coming out of him - the serious, secretive and mysterious Landon, - I feel like I should roll on the floor and laugh my ass off. I bit my bottom lip and turned my face away from him. "What?" he asked. "Unexpected," I pointed out, then laughed. He rolled his eyes.

"So Mr. Henderson, do you prefer Lucky Charms or Cheerios? I'm out of Cocoa Puffs," I said, grabbing the kitchen countertop as I was laughing so hard. I heard a pair of footsteps coming up behind me.

Landon placed his hands on the countertop next to mine from behind me. I stopped laughing. "Hmm, are you done laughing?" he whispered, his lips were very close to my ears. I became flustered in a blink of an eye. "You blush very easily do you know that?"

"There's this thing called personal space," I snapped. He gave a deep chuckle. His hands were now off the countertop, his arm is snaking their way around my waist. He pulled me closer. "I think it's very cute."

"Landon," I said warningly. He snickered and let go of my waist. "I'll just have pop tarts for today," he said, breaking the tension.

I couldn't help it but drop down on my knees and laugh more, clutching my stomach.

"I'm thinking of playing squash today since I saw there's a court downstairs, want to join?" he asked. I nodded, still laughing.

"Keep that up. You're going to die due to the lack of air. Where's my pop--"

"I'll make it right now..." I laughed, taking out the toaster. This is the hardest that I had laughed in months, all thanks to Landon.

"I'm not going to go easy on you," Landon said, smirking.

"Be my guest. I'm going to kick your sorry little ass."

It is said that the black ball could travel fast and bounce back as if it wants to punch you. I never played this fast before. Landon is too good. Five minutes had elapsed and I'm already feeling weak. My concentration starts to slowly fade away as I started to think how Landon got this good.

He did not tell me what he's working as; is he some kind of athlete or something?

"I rarely hear you talk about your parents; I don't even see you calling them," he suddenly said. I looked at him, dumbfounded as to why he suddenly wanted to talk about them.

"Ball," he said.

"What?"

The black ball bounced off the wall and managed to hit me at the side of my face. I stumbled a few steps away.

"Are you always like this? Getting injured I meant."

"...Kind of, I don't know."

To be honest, I've been banging my head on the doors and lampposts and got hit by balls and what not ever since Landon came here. I don't know why, and I'm not planning to tell him that in fear that he will get offended.

If I were to tell you that you bring bad luck what do you feel? And to make things worst, I suddenly remembered Landon had weapons that could easily kill me in one swift movement. Screw this. Next time I'll search for applicants that doesn't have 15 guns or so in a box.

I crouched down and took the ball, remembering what he asked me before I got brutally punched by the ball. Ridiculous.

"My mother died a few years ago."

His eyes snapped towards mine. There was something like guilt or concerned in there, and I tried to laugh it away for him. "Don't worry, I'm a big girl. I know this sounds cruel but I knew it was coming sooner or later," I said, grinning widely towards him. "She's in good hands now Landon, a better one. I do miss her terribly though."

"How about your father?" he asked, in his attempt to not make me go any further into telling him how sad I really am. I smiled, looking down at the ball on my hand. "I'm not really that close to him, but I still love him. He's a politician you see, which is totally common around here. He's with the opposition."

Landon seem like he was thinking too many stuff together, but oddly enough he still stayed calm. But suddenly his calm expression got a bit distressed.

"Landon?" I asked.

"Sorry," he said, snapping out of his thoughts. "Come on, let's continue on playing. You serve," he said.

Oh my god, I have to do this again?! I positioned myself and threw the ball up before hitting in with all I've got. But I never thought something weird would happen when I serve.

When Landon received the ball and hit it back with his racket, the ball literally exploded upon impact with the wall. I gave a small shriek.

He faked a grin towards me. "Well, I guess that ball is just worn out."

But I had bought it a few weeks ago, brand new, and I barely use it for the past few weeks since I have too many work to do. My eyebrows furrowed a bit when I looked towards Landon.

When he hit it the ball travel so fast I could barely see it. That strength exist in a bodybuilder or something, but Landon doesn't have those kind of freakishly huge muscles. He does have muscles, it's only that it's not that visible for some reason.

"You okay?" he asked. I nodded. "I need something to eat, let's go somewhere. My treat," I said giddily. If only Landon tell me more about himself.
