Landon was worried because Amelia was feeling unwell. But when his phone rang at the same time Amelia closed her eyes, he thought she was asleep. I was having a little migraine. I don't know if it is due to the lack of food that I had consume for the past few days (work had been chaotic) or the fact that things are happening just too fast and too weird (Landon, firearms...the fact that he asked about my father?).

Fran wouldn't stop reminding me to be careful too since somehow the body count keep climbing.

And the police along with the authority are dumbfounded.

No one knows who the murderer is.

"You look awful," Landon said softly, throwing the keys on the kitchen island and grabbing an apple from the colorful basket of fruits. "Anything wrong?"

Everything, I tried to say. But I couldn't even bring myself to open my mouth. So I just shook my head. I didn't know if he were able to see it since I was on the couch, but I didn't really care. But I'm guessing he didn't because the next thing I knew he walked up to me and placed his palm on my forehead.

"You're not having a fever," he muttered more to himself than me. I gave him a small smile. "I'm fine Landon," I croaked. "I just need some sleep," I said. He nodded.

I think his phone just vibrated in his pocket since he took it out to answer it. I slowly shut my eyes close. But my ears were listening to the conversation.

Not that I was eavesdropping or anything...I mean, Landon is right there in front of me. How could I not hear it right? It's his fault that he doesn't move outside to the balcony or something.

"Of course I want you guys to hack and disable to security cameras," Landon muttered angrily. My heart skipped a beat. Why would anyone want to disable the security? "And I want that report on Capitol Heights as soon as possible. Time is ticking. Sooner or later the client will call on to either cancel the task or to continue with it."

He paused. I could tell his eyes were on me, because every time people do that I started to feel very uncomfortable and my palms start to sweat. It's like their eyes were burning into my flesh.

"Call me back tonight," he muttered into the phone seriously. That made my heart beat thrice as fast. I thought I might die from cardiac arrest right there on my couch.

Everything was calm as soon as Landon went to his room. The door clicked behind him as he close it.

My eyes shot open and I drowsily sat up, trying to piece together all the weird event that is happening this week alone. It didn't give me a conclusion as to the evident was very limited. I didn't even want to make my own conclusion.

What is Landon playing at?

Hold on for a minute...the other day he seem interested about as to where my father lives.

I answered Capitol Heights.

I rolled my hand into a fist and hit the table. No, it must be a coincidence.

After all, Landon is a good guy.

Yeah, a good guy who just won't tell anything about himself to you. He wouldn't tell you what he's working as! That annoying little voice in my head is at it again.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Christian said 'close to where you live', Landon thought it was a few blocks around the corner or something. But as soon as he peek into the file, the address printed on the piece of paper is ridiculously familiar.

The person is living in the same building!

Worst yet Landon thought Amelia was asleep when he answered that call. Mistake after mistake after mistake. Maybe Christian was right: maybe he was getting distracted. After a second look, he finally realizes that Amelia was far from being asleep.

Who knows what she could have come up with. Maybe she cracked the code. Maybe she knows that Landon is an assassin. But he keeps reminding himself that she's a naive, sweetly dumb and gullible.

Then again, she is a forensic scientist. Behind that layers of gullibility and dumbness, she's silently a highly intelligent and analytical person. Landon is sure that she is the kind of person who is suspicious towards everything that is...well...suspicious.

He looked around. It was 3 in the morning. It is less likely that anyone would be awake right now. Landon crouched down in front of the door, concentrating on the lock.

But all he could think of is Amelia. He thinks about her so much that the doorknob suddenly turn to look like her. Madness.

With a few pins, he managed to unlock the door in less than 2 minutes. Proof that the door in this building is too cheap.

He hummed a song in his head whilst walking to the room of the victim, all the while taking out his dagger and examining it. The last thing he wants to do is leave multiple of traces that could easily track him down.

He remembered the watch, and felt angry with himself. Oh good, anger is motivation.

"Psst," Landon hissed, smirking.

The woman woke up. She was probably in her mid 30's. Her eyes squinted towards Landon.

"Who are you?!"

Typical.

"A human being Ms. Steffan. Just...have a different line of job," he answered. She furrowed her eyebrows. "What-- get out of my home plea--" she stopped dead in the middle of her sentence when Landon wave the dagger around.

"Want to run? You really can't. I'm going to hunt you down anyway," Landon said, bored.

It took a moment for the fact that Landon is going to kill her to register. But once it did, it was too late. With one flick of his wrist, the dagger flew towards Ms. Steffan's heart, instantly killing her.

With his black-gloved hand, he twist the dagger and pull it out. Poor Ms. Steffan was too stunned to even scream.

He straightened up his back, mumbling profanities under his breath. He need to cover his track.
