A Handsome Assassin as a Roommate [Part 9] NOT a Bright Idea!
Amelia went to see Jake again as they had became friends. Amelia find herself making homemade ice cream with him later on till late. In the end, it was so late that she had to stay at his place. (This is a somewhat filler chapter ;D Bear with me and thanks for reading, messages would be greatly appreciated btw.)"I heard what had happened," Jake Thedford said an hour later. "It must be gruesome for a girl like you to see that kind of sight."
"I'm a forensics Jake, I can handle it...but this is different," I said. "This is much more different than the others. First of all, she died in the building where I live in, and I knew her. She had been so kind to me. Why would anyone kill her?" I said, clenching my jaws and closing my eyes.
"Amy?" he said. I shook my head. I'm depressed, that I know of. But I shouldn't cry, I can't cry in front of anyone or else they would become worried about me. I haven't cry since my mother died. She always encouraged me. She always told me that I'm a strong girl.
And when I'm sad, she would be sad too.
"I know what would make you feel better," he whispered into my ear. His warm breath on my skin feels strangely comforting. "What?" I asked. "Ice cream."
"Ice cream?"
"Ice cream."
So after that repeated sentence of 'ice cream' in different tones, we went to his house. "I don't get it," I said, laughing. "I thought you said ice cream as in...'let's go to the mall and buy some Baskin-Robbins!'"
"What fun would that be? We're going to make our own ice cream."
I giggled. "Jake, I don't know how to make ice cream."
He grinned, his arms were around my waist as he pulled me closer. "It's not too late to learn now is it?"
This is unbelievable, I thought. I've only known the guy for what? 3 days? And I'm already warming up to him just like that! This is awesome! I never thought I could like someone so much after just a couple of days!
It took so long to make a bowl of ice cream, but it was worth it.
"Oh my god, this is the best ice cream I had ever tasted!" I said. "See how good it is to make homemade stuff instead?" Jake said, smirking. I laughed. "Oh crap, I really should tell my roommate that I'm here. It's already dark."
"I'm sure he won't mind," Jake said. I shook my head. "What if he does?"
Then it hit me. The watch that I had saw this morning. It keeps haunting me from time to time. Jake took me in his arms. I didn't know how he did it, but I felt relax, despite my neck and shoulder area is aching terribly. I need a spa.
"Stay for the night," he said. I nodded absent-mindedly. What if the watch is just another coincidence?
But then again, there's too many coincidence lately. What if all of the coincidences are not even coincidences?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Where have you been?!" Landon exclaimed. "I called you like 60 times...until I realize you left your cellphone here."
It's so hard not to laugh. But I kept a straight face. "I've been in a friend's house."
"Yeah well, who?" he demanded. I smiled. Is he worried? "NOT THAT I'M WORRIED OR ANYTHING!" he exclaimed loudly, almost as if he's trying to say and believe that himself rather than saying it to me.
"Jake."
Landon body suddenly went rigid. I raised my eyebrow. "What?"
"Jake who?"
"Jake Thedford," I said, shrugging. "The man with the blond hair and blue eyes?"
I jumped. How did he know?
"I...just a guess," he said, shrugging it off and going to his room. I frowned. "Landon wait!" I said. He turned to look at me impatiently. "Where's your watch?" I asked, sounding a bit too suspicious.
"I lost it," he said. "Why do you ask?"
"Just asking."
At the same time, he took out his phone again. He answered it bitterly and excused himself to me. "Need to take this, really urgent," he said.
I know I shouldn't do this.
But I went to do it anyway.
I followed him quietly towards the balcony. The sliding door was slightly open.
"So the client had confirmed then?" Landon said. "When do he wants the job to be done?" he paused. "Well, I can't really do it 'as soon as possible' if you guys don't give me the whereabouts of the subject is."
My blood went cold. What does he meant by that?
"I narrowed it down for you guys, damn it!" he said, practically shouting. "Capitol Heights remember?"
Again with Capitol Heights!
"Oh great, now the subject is suspecting that we are on to him? Please, is there anymore way for you people to make my life any more harder?!" he hissed. "I need to get the job done okay? Track him down. I don't want him to move out of Capitol Heights. I don't care! Just find a way!"
Right about now my head was spinning, trying to piece all the conversations that I had and the observations I had made and remembered.
When he hung up, I found myself running as if I've seen a ghost towards the middle of the living room. "So who was it?" I asked.
"Some guy trying to sell me a water dispenser," he said, shrugging. He's lying.
"Landon, I'm going to make breakfast for the both of us. I bought some Lucky Charms, do you want some?"
"Is that supposed to be mocking me?" he said, smirking. I shook my head, smiling, despite myself. "Nope, no mocking intended."
"I'll get my own bowl, but thank you," he said. "Do you want some?"
"Do I ever!" I exclaimed, a bit happily. "Hey Amelia?" he said. I looked up towards him. "Yes?"
"I am glad that you're feeling a tad better today," he said, smiling.
I blushed a shade of crimson. He smiled. He smiled!
I put my hands to my chest dramatically. He silently watched me in amusement. "Thank you," I said, too, a bit dramatically. My problems went away temporarily when we talked about ourselves and experiences while muching on Lucky Charms.
