"What the hell did you do that for?!" I hissed to my father. "I told you before didn't I? If there's anything wrong, call the cops, not your staff!"

There's still the matter that Landon is an assassin at hand. I can't keep it away forever, right?

"Or do I need to staple the reminder on your head with the big bold letters of our emergency number?!" I said angrily...and then realized that I was screaming at my father's face and tried my best to calm down. I rubbed my temple.

"If he's not a trained assassin, what will he be you wonder?" my dad asked, completely ignoring me!

"What?! I don't know...a lawyer maybe? Why the hell are you even asking this?! Haven't you heard what I said?"

"Are you sure?"

"Of course I am sure!"

To be honest, the week had been a never-ending roller coaster ride. I'm not even sure if Landon was telling all lies or some truth. I don't really know what to think anymore. I want to put my mind to rest so badly, but that's not going to happen soon.

This is not over yet.

I heard a set of ever-so familiar footsteps.

"Miss Larson, nice to see you again," the chief of the department who I always call as Abby ever since I work there. She leaned against the wall with her arms crossed. She was still wearing her lab coat.

Oh dear god, no.

"Likewise," I said, smiling stiffly.

"Now about that man in there," she said, pointing at the room where Landon is with her thumb. "What about him?" I asked.

"Do you know him, Amelia?"

"Of course she knows him, he's her boyfriend."

If choked on my own tongue and gave my father a death glare. What is he playing at? Abby looked surprised - and that made me a bit pissed off. Why is it for the past few years that when someone know I have a boyfriend, they either look surprised or taken aback.

Or laugh.

"Yes. He's my lawyer actually. I must say he's doing a pretty good job in it too."

My eyes were still on my father's side of face, hoping that he could hear my thoughts...which by the way, is not such a good thing because it's filled with profanities thrown at him in a single sentence.

"He's one of you guys then?" Abby asked. My father nodded happily. She smiled. "Well then, that's all I need for now. See you at work, Amelia," she said, nodding towards me. All I could do then was nod back...quite stiffly I might add.

"How do you do that?" I hissed.

"Do what?" he said innocently.

"Brainwash people with your smile and lie?"

"I'm a politician."

Well said.

"But I think I'm going to step out of the game and enjoy my retirement life."

Thank god. I can't deal with this any longer. I looked around. Where did Chris go? "Daddy, can you get me a cup of coffee? You should go get one yourself...in fact...just take a walk to clear your head a bit. It's a nice night outside isn't it?" I asked him. He stared at me like my eyeball just popped out of its socket.

"Uh, okay then?"

"Bye bye Dad, I'll see you soon," I said, smiling.

------------------------------------------------------------

I silently and slowly turned the doorknob, looking around anxiously just to make sure that there's no one looking. I slipped into the room unnoticed. Chris had her back towards me, and I didn't want to startle her either. So I stood there not knowing what to do.

"Your breathing is too shallow," she said, grimacing when she glance at the descending peak of green on the LCD. Suddenly, she jumped.

"Oh my god," he whispered. My heart skipped a beat. He's awake. "Christina? You're actually here? You're actually went outside? How is it, the outdoors? How was the sun? Did you see it? It's that big, orange, white or yellow thing in the sky!"

Chris hit his arm lightly whilst making a whining sound.

He gave a small chuckle.

I looked...possibly stunned right now. It's the first time I've seen him so comfortable like this.

"Mother send her regards to you," Landon said.

"...What? Have you lost your mind? She's dead."

"Yeah well, she came back to haunt my dreams. She said 'hi' to you too, Amy."

I jumped. At the same time I felt like crawling out of the room silently. How did he knew? His eyes are barely open!

Chris looked towards me and smiled. "Amy!"

"Hey," I breathed out, sounding like an idiot. I found myself getting annoyed by the beeping sound and just have to stare at the ECG. I am sad to say that his heart beats are way beyond being not stable. It's like one moment he's dead and another he's alive or something, it freaks me out.

And I pray that the damn thing is broken.

"You look awful," he said. "Just what a girl wants to hear," I said sarcastically. He laughed and gestured for me to come over.

"Chris, get out."

"NO! I want to hear...oh fine," she said, pouting.

"You two are not supposed to be in here anyway!" he called out, but suddenly got into a coughing fit. "Landon, don't overwork yourself," I said.

"You're saying that as if I'm dying."

"Well..." I trailed off, not knowing what to say. In a way, he technically is. Should I call the nurse, I wonder? He seem totally oblivious to the ECG.

"I'm just worried," I told him. He nodded wearily, staring at the ceiling.

"My father lied for you," I said out of the blue. He smiled. "Really?"

"Yes! I'm serious. He said that you are his lawyer and flash that stupid smile of his that could make anyone melt. You owe him big...so...you'd better be okay."

"Good man," he said, yawning. I was partially afraid that if he goes to sleep now, he may never wake up again.

"I desperately need a glass of ice cold coke right now," he suddenly said. I stared at him weirdly.

"You're losing it," I pointed out.

"I know right? I've no idea what's wrong with me."
