Introduction

Nothing quite says cool like a pair of Rayban Wayfarer Sunglasses . It's a time-less classic look that has spawned 1000's of imitations and copies. The classic shape and the unmistakable look has been deeply imprinted into popular culture. So much so that it's hard to imagine a time when they weren't THE sun glasses to wear. .
Reputably the best selling sun glasses in history, it certainly looks like these particular shades are around to stay. Especially now, after the launch of the Ray Ban New Wayfarer or the rb 2132 sunglasses.

The New Wayfarer

The New Wayfarer is one pair of sun glasses that refuses to go quietly into the night. Every time their popularity seems to be fading, then back they come stronger than ever. And with the rb 2132, Ray Ban are riding their latest wave of popularity.
These new shades are conceptually very similar to the original, but customized slightly for this century. Where as the originals tended to be quite bold and dominate the face a little, the new version is slightly less in-your-face. They have a sleeker, more subtle look but are still unmistakably Wayfarers. Still the same sunglasses that generation after generation have chosen for there class and functionality.

So What Gives The Wayfarers Their Long Lasting Popularity Amongst Celebrities And Normal Folk Alike?

Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses became an instant classic soon after their inception when a host of 1950's and 60's stars chose them as the sunglasses of choice. They looked great and featured a design that was, at the time, unique. Previously wire like frames had been all the rage and these were some of the first shades to be made entirely from Rx-able plastic. Bob Dylan, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Andy Warhol all had at least one pair and the list of aficcionado's really does go on and on. Anyone who was anyone wore theses glasses. The closest thing to de rigeur eye wear there´s ever been.

So their popularity amongst celebrities certainly helped to get their cult following started. And then there were the movies....
Audrey Hepburn first wore them on the silver screen in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany's to really cement their reputation. And then there was Risky business and the The Blues Brothers. By this point, if you were playing a cool lead character, it was pretty much established what shades you would wear.

It was very clever product placement, which worked. In fact I struggle to think of any other item of clothing, save blue jeans, where the marketing has been quite so successful and the product so enduring.
So who´s wearing them today? And in particular the rb2132?
Well, lots of people. Yep, Hollywood seems to just love the retro look.

British heart throb Jude Law's been spotted out and about in a pair as has his compatriot, the beautiful Kate Moss.
Nicole Ritchie's got a pair and so has her former best friend for life Paris Hilton.
It's not just the younger crowd who love the look either with Kevin Costner and Mickey Rourke both being big fans.,

There really isn't space to list all the Hollywood celebrities seen in these shades but some others who wear the rb2123 are Kylie, Lily Allen, Lindsay Lohan, Heith Ledger, the Olson twins, Orlando Bloom and a ton more top flight stars.

There's no doubt the Wayfarer look is here to stay in the guise of the ray ban 2132 sunglasses. It's a timeless look that speaks of elegance and quality but with more than a bit of rock and roll!
