Fly Fishing Tackle is the fishing rod, reel, lines and other items you need to go fly fishing. Perhaps you have some fly fishing tackle already, or you’re new to fishing, and don’t know what you need to get started.

Fishing Rods are available in various sizes, prices and materials. Fishing rods made from carbon and bamboo, are lightweight which means that they can be used all day. Different sorts of fishing rods are designed to be suitable for catching different sorts of fish. If you’re not sure what sort of fishing rod you need, why not ask your fishing friends, do your research online, or ask at your local fishing shop? This will help you to avoid the costly mistake of buying the wrong fishing rod.

Fishing Reels house the fishing line. These vary in both price and quality. You don’t necessarily have to buy the most expensive reel to have the most appropriate fishing reel If you fish for trout, you might need a reel that allows you to wind the line in and out manually. If you’re going to be catching salmon, and be spending more time in the water, you’ll want a reel that is capable. You won’t need the most complicated, or feature-rich reel to start with. You might find that you don’t need to spend a lot on your fishing reel, depending on where you fish, and what sort of fish you catch.

Fishing Lines are available in different lengths and price. You’ll probably have some idea as to what sort of fishing you’ll be doing, and where you’ll be fishing, so you’ll know what your fishing line needs to cope with. You may already know what brand of line you want, or know what your friends use.

Having the right fly fishing flies, baits and lures is also extremely important. The bait you use will depend on the sort of fish you want to catch, where you are fishing, and the time of day you are fishing. There are literally thousands of different sorts of flies to choose from. If you’re not sure what to use, ask what other people are using, or what your fishing shop recommends.

Waders will be required if you think that you will be going to spend a lot of time in the water. You should choose waders that will be warm, as you’ll be in the water all day. Waders that can resist rips and tears are recommended, so that if you bump into a branch, or catch your waders on a rock or something else in the water, they won’t tear. However, there’s little point in spending your entire budget on the very best waders if you’re unlikely to use them.

A fishing tackle box or bag is another essential you’ll need for carrying all of your fly fishing tackle around with you. You might not be parked close to where you’re actually fishing, and you’ll definitely want to keep all your flies, hooks and other things safe and in one place. You’ll probably be fishing for several hours at a time, if not all day, so you’ll need additional food and drinks, as well as all of your fishing equipment.

You might need to wear different fishing clothing depending on where and what you fish for, and of course what time of the day and year it is. If you fish for salmon, and spend all day standing in a river, you’ll need warm and waterproof clothing with big easy to access pockets so that you can get what you need even if your hands are wet and cold. Remember that several thinner layers will keep you warmer than one or two much thicker layers will.

Getting started in fly fishing doesn’t have to cost a fortune, but getting the right fishing equipment at the start will make fishing easier, and you’ll find it more enjoyable. If you’ve often thought about starting fly fishing, why not get the fly fishing tackle you need, and go fishing this weekend?
