I woke up to snoring in my ear. I opened my eyes to see Nick sleeping beside me, his arms draped over my waist pulling me closer into him. I remembered last night, me finding my way to his house at two in the morning. How he was there for me, how he held me while I was crying. I can’t believe how Nick has always been here for me and I never saw it. I carefully slid out of his death grip he had on me, and went downstairs to see Denise making pancakes.
“Morning Denise.”
“Oh, morning sweetie, how are you feeling? Nick came in at about three this morning to tell me that you were staying the night. Something about you and Craig.”
“Yeah, me and Craig broke up, I was really upset about it.”
“I’m sorry sweetie.”
“I’m fine now though, Nick being there for me really helped.”
“That’s great. Speaking of Nick, would you mind if you went and woke him up?”
“Sure,” I said making my way back upstairs and into Nick’s room.
“Nick?” I said opening the door and peering inside.
I walked inside the room, and over to his sleeping body.
“Nick, sweetie, wake up.”
“Mmm, five more minutes babe.” He said rolling over.
“Your mom sent me up here to get you. She’s making pancakes.” I was now leaning over him.
“Baby, come on, please?”
“Nick, come on, get your butt out of bed.”
And in one swift motion he pulled me on top of him.
“Umm, Nick?”
He cracked open one eye, and saw the position.
“Oh, I’m sorry Abby.”
“It’s alright, Denise just want me to wake you up because breakfast is ready.” I said as I was getting off the bed.
“Okay, thanks.”
“You’re welcome.”
*1 Week Later*
So, I guess you can say I was falling for Nick.
Sure, we’ve been best friends for years but we’ve been hanging out more and more.
I’m currently sitting in his room while he was downstairs getting a movie for us to watch.
After a while I got bored, so I started snooping.
I came across his notebook. Jackpot.
I opened it in the middle and flipped through a few pages and I stopped when I found the poem he read a while ago in creative writing “Oh, How I Wish”. I re-read it and it was still as amazing as it was when I had first heard it. But the words under the title surprised me.
“Dedicated to Abby”
I gasped. I seriously had no idea. Nick also knew, Nick knew that Craig was cheating on me.
Surprisingly it didn’t bother me that much.
I heard footsteps up the stairs. I quickly shut the notebook and put it back where it was right as Nick entered the room.
“Hey, is RENT okay?”
“Nick, you know that’s my favorite movie.”
“Yeah I know.” He laughed.
After the movie was over Nick drove me back to my house.
NICK’s POV
I can’t even begin to describe how amazing Abby really is. When I drove her home, I walked her to the door, like every gentleman should.
“Nick, you don’t have to walk me to my doorstep.”
“Yes I do. It’s my job as a gentleman to do so.”
She hit my arm; “you are anything but a gentleman, Nicholas.”
I let out an exasperated gasp.
“I am so a gentleman, if I wasn’t I wouldn’t be walking you to your door.”
She smiled. “But still, you don’t have to.”
“Well, maybe I want to.”
She lightly blushed; I don’t think she realized that I saw it.
“Well, this is where I bid adieu until tomorrow.”
“You and your vocabulary, Nicholas, it’s going to be the death of me.”
“But you love it.”
She mumbled something incoherent.
“What was that Abbs?”
She looked up and we made eye contact.
“It was nothing Nick, don’t worry about it.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah, goodnight.” She replied embracing me in a hug.
“Night babe.”
She started pulling away, I looked down and our faces were so close I could see the moon reflecting in her eyes.
I don’t know what came over me, maybe it was just my stupid hormones, but all I know is that a millisecond later my lips were on hers, kissing her softly.
At first she tensed up a bit, probably in pure shock, but then she softened up and started kissing me back with the same amount of passion. I know that this might seem like a cliché but I felt fireworks as her lips meshed with mine.
Finally, after what seemed like forever we had to pull away for air. I rested my forehead on hers as we panted. “Abby, I don’t know how to say this, but I love you.”
She reached up and moved some of my curls that were covering up my eyes.
“I love you too Nicholas.”
And with her saying that I pulled her in once more.
Oh, How I Wish Know She’s Mine.
