18 Finding The Escape

Garrett and Lisa stood up as the officer and I came through the door.

"Well there's some good coming out of a bad situation," The police officer said,
"I believe strongly that Rose will get her freedom. However she doesn't have a place to stay and legally I'm afraid there are no relatives that I could send her to."
"Well that's not a problem. Rose is more than welcome to stay with us," Lisa responded.
"You would have to go through legal documents in order for her to live at the home."
"That isn't an issue. Rose has been through too much; she needs a good home for awhile and if I need to I will."
The officer smiled. "Rose you sure are lucky to have met Garrett. You guys can head home now if you wish, Lisa I'll send you the legal documents tomorrow. Get a good night sleep you guys."
"Thank you so much," Lisa.
"Thanks," I said as Garrett put his arm around my shoulders.
"No problem. We'll get a hold of you guys tomorrow."

We waved good bye then got in the ford and drove back to Lisa's.
"Alright I'm off to bed you two should do the same," Lisa said then walked up the stairs. I felt a rush of relief run through me as I plopped on the couch. Garrett sat beside me and smiled.

"I can't even tell you how grateful I am," I said as I leaned on his shoulder.
"It was no problem, Rose," He said and kissed my cheek.
"Uh yes it was. You saved my life and plus I have a normal boyfriend and I don't have to be afraid to turn my back every minute of my life anymore."
"All in a day’s work. Wait- normal boyfriend?"
"Yeah..."
"So you've had un-normal boyfriends before?"
"Uhm... well... it was a long time ago okay! His name was Rupert and we were 10!"
He burst out laughing. "What attracted you to this Rupert?"
"Yeah that's for another day."
"Was he muscular?"
"No."
"Did he have beautiful eyes?"
"No, Garrett."
"Did he say you were rad?"
I laughed. "No!"
"Then, what?!"
"I told you I'm not telling!"
"Why not?!"
"Shut up!"
"Not until you tell me!"
"You'll laugh your ass off, forget it!"
"What if I tell you a big secret?" he asked raising his eye brows.
"Maybe..."
"Promise?"
"Fine."
"Okay say: I Rose will promise to tell Garrett why I found Rupert so sexy."
"You're such a freak!"
"Promise!"
"Fine! I Rose will promise to tell Garrett why I found Rupert so sexy."

He cleared his throat. "Eh-Hem. When I was three years old I ran down the street nude screaming I love thongs because my mom told me if I did, that she'd let me wear my glow in the dark bat man costume, which by the way included a yellow speedo that went over top the suit."

I burst out into a fit of laughter then managed to say, "Well I found Rupert attractive... WAY back when... because Angela had made fun of my cheeks because I had freckles on them when they were little and he told her that freckles were hot then farted in her face."

"He was right though! Freckles are hot." Garrett wiggled his eye brows up and down and then we laughed until tears streamed down both our cheeks.

I fell asleep on the couch with a blanket draped over me and the TV still playing a movie. I woke up to birds chirping loudly beside the window. I whined then put the pillow over my head. "Meh go away!" I whined into the pillow. Garrett chuckled and I sat up and stuck my tongue out.

Lisa came into the living room with a bag over her shoulder.

"I’ve got to go. It’s Friday so you two midas well stay home."
"Alright," Garrett said.
We heard the engine revved then she was gone down the road.
